E.P.I.C adventure top water casting off the boat, in search of giants as usual! Great video Lots of Action!! AND hook removal instruction (not really instruction), you get a Lg hook nice and deep in your thigh & now you have two choices you yank it out hard with a plier or you push it through and cut the barb portion off so that the hook removes in a more civilized manner.. If I can offer a suggestion for handling fish when you neets to unhook them, turn them inverted it paralyzes them momentarily and calms them down. Taken from personal experience, you can research but from personal experience works.

Great action and a solid message about caring for the wildlife. One tip is to have a yoga mat or something to lay the fish on instead of the red hot aluminium. Tight lines.

Not really the only thing he could have maybe done better was maybe have the fish on some boga grips to keep that from happening.

Trick is dont take photos with lures in the mouth. Gotta unhook and place gently so its not attached to the fish if they jump. Learned that GT fishing in Japan, also if your on a long expidition you need to fish barbless period.

@@IsaacDS123 I have had a few hooks go buried. Found that icing it for a minute or two before extracting the hook works pretty well. Still hurts a bunch later on though.

Anyone who does should not be there mate.
Many years ago as a young man I got (a much smaller) treble embedded deep in my thumb,so deep the only way to get it out was to push it through my thumbnail from underneath and once it came through the nail cut off the barb ...OUCH.
I now only fish barbless hooks haha!

Great fishing and also thank you (unfortunately for you) for reinforcing a lesson that I am always preaching to my sons. Risk vs gain. Don’t do stupid things! I kept telling them that you, (And every other TH-camr) like we on my boat always do here should be removing the lure before showing off your catch. I tell my boys to eliminate as much of a danger as they can. When you had your first close call it was a good enough demonstration that satisfied me. That near disaster what a great demonstration showing how dangerous it is to handle a large fish with a mouth full of sharp pointy things. I feel the fish are vindictive looking for the chance to even the score. Sorry to say that when you got that hook buried in to you it really drove the point of the lesson home for my sons 😂 Man that looked like that hurt.
I like to keep the things exciting mate haha. All good.. been a bit more cautious now but won’t be the last time .

I have at 61yrs only been stuck a few times with very small hooks. Last trip I was catching mackerel for bluefin bait and was hooked twice on Sabikis. Stung both times! I can only imagine that big old hook felt like in your leg.
