@@CarSceneKorea thanks for the response. i asked a german car dealer with a youtube channel. they said there will be new informations about that soon. they said its most likely the first n-line models are available in the third quarter this year.
The fix of the noise on the back seatbelts left me speechless! It is my bigest complain for the Ionic 5 and NO ONE ever mantioned about that. Apart of that i was sure for all these changes it gets from the original one. Great review on a great car. well done mate
Young man, because of your review of this new Ioniq 5, I have ordered a 2025 Ioniq 5 N Line S model in the UK. If it’s great I’ll thank YOU. If it’s rubbish I’ll blame YOU! 😂 But I don’t think you have much to worry about. After all it has a rear wiper! Thanks for your very helpful reviews. 👍❤
Thanks for the shout out! In reference to the question about battery conditioning threshold. They are referring to how low can the battery be before you can no longer activate it. Ioniq 5 in US is currently around 20% where it will turn off but I’ve been testing the Kia EV9 for the last week and I found that it will continue to condition the battery down to about 12% state of charge which is much better.
I actually have personally experienced having the battery down to a single digit before arriving at a charging station (the one I meant to go were out of service) so never suspected there being such threshold. Interesting!🤔 I might be getting things confused, but I’m pretty sure it was less than 5% that Ive experienced.
Your Review made me go to a Hyundai Dealer and Order a new Ioniq5 right away. All the bugs that enoyed me are gone. Looking forward to get it in january. Greets frol germany
Great review. It certainly looks like they have resolved lots of the issues from the pre facelift model. The rear seat belts are annoying and the lack of rear wiper. My other issue was the location of the usb port to connect to wired CarPlay. It was quite a reach to get to. But I suppose they have resolved that with wireless CarPlay.
The most impressive thing is how much feedback Hyundai actually heard and listened to. It seems like most of the issues or annoyances people had with the previous model were addressed. That's really commendable. They have been acting like a great company z
Thank you very much for your review. I drive an original Ioniq 5 since 20 months and the leasing will end in September 25. There are several deal breakers for leasing an Ioniq 5 in the future: the turning circle of my 4 wheel drive Ioniq 5 is 12,6 m, which is like a truck and not acceptable in Europe. The Bose sound system including the subwoofer is ridiculous and not acceptable for me on long trips. The consumption at 130 km/h in winter is more than 30 kw for 100 km, which is unacceptably huge. I wonder if any of these three issues has been fixed in the PE version of the 4 wheel drive Ioniq.
All of the points you've made, Hyundai could definitely improve upon. All I can tell you for now is that it has larger battery hence longer driving distance.

Hey! Thanks for your videos. Can you disable the automatic captions that turn on whenever I play any of your videos? Your english is great, no need for the captions, ever. They even turn back on after each ad break. Madness! My biggest gripe with the IONIQ 5 PE is the confirmation that the original IONIQ 5 5W infotainment system will never be upgraded by Hyundai to get ccNc’s improved features. My 6 month old IONIQ 5 won’t get manual preconditioning, the round gauges that fit in the steering wheel, for example. My 2018 Kia Soul EV received major upgrades to infotainment, including a brand new user interface and CarPlay. My 2020 Soul EV received major interface upgrades and changes as well over time. IONIQ 5 will be my only Korean car that’s stuck on old software like this. Very bad feeling considering its price.
Did you ever use Utility Mode and notice any upgrades to the PE version? IIRC some people were complaining on the original cars about the difficulty of being able to lock the car while keeping the car in Utility Mode and walking away (e.g. to keep their dog comfy). Love the videos, thanks!
Although not included in the video, the utility mode shows how much hours left to be used, a bit more info than before. However, I don't think there is the "Dog mode," like that of Tesla's just yet. I couldn't find any during my test drive, nor have I seen one from fellow reviewers.
The navigation improved with the latest update. What bothers me is that the Hyundai system is planning charging stops for when the battery is at about 30-40% and that is especially with a smaller battery of 57 kWh much too high. But the battery condition works great and I dont want to bother with some Android play navigation (which is not that well integrated in the display). -> I would love to have a way to change the min-battery limit for the charging stops in the navigation myself.
Do you know anything about the base audio system for the GV60? The B&O system is nice but it’s very expensive. I don’t think it’s going to sound that much better but all the test cars seem to have the B&O system. Thank you.
Another great video keep up the great work hyundai and kia are the best cars in terms of reliability and the best technology ever kev from the United Kingdom 🇬🇧
Thanks! I'd love to see the N line version as well. I like the look of that one because it got rid of the silver details around the wheels and doors. Have the prices come out yet?
Great review thank you. Great car. My only reservation is that it does not have a Full Console. Centre Console is nice but I really do not like the open floor space in front of the Centre Console. Deal breaker for me.... yes.
As someone looking at getting an Ioniq 5, your videos have been an excellent source of information so far. Do you know if you're likely to get the opportunity to do anything more in depth with the new N-Line version at all? Interested to see how that differs further from the PE version, besides the obvious body changes and steering wheel/trim. I've seen photos/renders of the N-Line in a red colour also, which looks excellent imo! Do you happen to know if this is a unique red, or the same as say the Kona N-Line red metallic? Thanks.
Thanks for the comment :) I only see Ultimate Red Metallic on the catalogue for IONIQ 5 including the N-Line, so I assume it'd be the same as Kona N-Line's. It always has been the same color despite the vehicle type when it comes to Hyundai thus far. I sure do hope to test drive IONIQ 5 N-Line, you will see it on my channel or on the community post as I've said in this video when I do!
Can you tell us how the sound system of the PE model sounds compared to the first ioniq 5? And how does it compare to the sound system of the Genesis GV60?
Thanks for you fabulous videos! I currently drive a Tesla M3 and am considering switching to an Ionic 5 or 6. One of the features I use most is its lane centering with automatic cruise control, which is particularly great in stop and go driving. It takes the tedium out of rush hour stop and go traffic and traffic jam driving. Does the HD2 lane centering and automatic cruise control also work in stop and go traffic or does it only work at relatively constant highway speeds? Thanks for your reply.
Simple answer to that is a yes. HDA2 is the latest HDA Hyundai Motor Group offers and I personally think it works the best with EVs. Do test it for yourself however, for it will feel quite different from that of a Tesla. HDA also works on cities too, although it might lack a bit of performance comparing it to highway uses.
The generic HDA2 in EGMP ( Hyundai, Kia, Genesis) EV requires a minimum speed for the lane keep assist to work usually above that of stop and go traffic. However the adaptive cruise control can be set as low as 20mph and the car will stop and go in traffic. If the stop is longer than about 30 seconds you will have to prompt the car to move - press of accelerator pedal or a tap of the cruise control button.
Great video! I noticed that the Ioniq 5 you are driving does not have Forward Attention Warning, that is the camera on the steering column to monitor the driver. Is it not available on it, even though cheaper models like the Kona and Tucson get it?
Thanks for a great video. you mentioned in a previous video that the self parking system was upgraded to number two and the lane assistant was also upgraded to number two have you tested if there is any big difference compared to the old system?
I’ve had my Genesis GV60 for half a year now, and much to my surprise, I don’t miss having a rear wiper one bit. Maybe it’s because the rear windows have been mafia-grade tinted at the factory?
@@CarSceneKorea that’s oftentimes true, but also depends on the car’s shape/design, so the problem is a bit complex. :) Some car designs cause mud to stick more to the rear window than others, and in some countries, you get more of the wet mud. If you drive a hatchback with a steeper angle on the rear, or a station wagon, there are more vortexes in the immediate slipstream, that will make mud particles airborne. On a not so steep coupé angle, you don’t really get these vortexes, negating the need for a rear wiper. And on sedans. The mud particles don’t end up on top of the trunk. I remember using the rear wiper a lot on drives in Norway and Sweden, driving cars from various European manufacturers. These were mostly hatchbacks or station wagons. I currently live in Ireland, and have never really had the need for a rear wiper here, oddly enough, as the rain just washes away everything on the rear window as I go.
On point, thanks for the precise info! Micro dust also plays a huge role, it gets quite dirty here in Korea when you park the car outside just for a few days or hours even 🥲
When will we be able to use these gorgeous displays to watch TH-cam and Netflix? I currently have an ioniq electric 2020 model and I love it. I really do like the ioniq 5 which is the next upgrade from ny car. I wish Hyundai would have stayed with the gear shifter that my car has. Which is the button style gear selector on the center console. I think it's so cool and different. And one last thing I wish they would stay with the harmon kardon sound system instead of the bose sound system. So yeah when will we be able to use these gorgeous screens for actual media consumption. We should be able to do so when in park.
Huge question for me is what would you say the financial worth this is? Is the upgrade worth 5/10/15k?? The old model year is selling on huuuuge deals right now. The new year has amazing upgrades but saving 15k on a car is hard to pass up in this economy
Has the need to keep a 12-volt emergency power pack in the IONIQ 5 been fixed? Several people complained that the 12-volt battery would go flat on original versions, and people kept an emergency power pack in their cars just in case the 12-volt battery went flat.
@@CarSceneKorea Oh, if we haven't lost capacity then the different form factor would be tolerable - on your video it looked shallower and not as tall either. Perhaps an optical illusion. It sure would be interesting to get the official capacity of drawer v lid glovebox.
One thing I'll mention about EV cars they drop Value incredibly fast! My IONIQ 5 SEL out the door with platinum extended Warranty and premium extended Warranty on tires and Rims I paid 56,000 +. I went to one dealership and they offered me 21,000!!!! It has low miles and I have Title in Hand! It's paid off.... It's not just the IONIQ but others too that have dropped over 50% value in just 1 1/2 years. I expected to take a hit buying a brand new car but not over 50% in such a short span is insane. Plus all the issues with electrify America, and lack of charging stations.
The delay between Korea and Europe is usually 5 to 6 months( end of summer), but they will open a new production line in the US for the US market, so we in Europe won't have to fight them in orders. The other issue is shipping, which has been disrupted, so it may prolong.
I’m a bit confused, do I understand correctly, that this one gets the capacitive style hand on detection on the steering wheel, but the Ioniq 5N does not?
I'm excited they are using a hand sensor vs torque, I am not a fan of the torque systems. I will say I don't like how often Hyundai remaps the accelerator. Rather than changing the full curve they could change the response time and the amount of regen, but not the position. They could then cap the accel in Eco unless you floor it. This would achieve the same effect without the annoyance of constant accelerator remapping for every small regen change via the paddles. Here's hoping we get the laws for side mirrors and matrix headlights fixed in the US so we can get the DSM and other goodies.
Great video thanks! I am not a fan (at all) of the new steering wheel shape "T". I like being able to have my hand at the very bottom of the wheel when I drive. Thoughts?
Hi, Thank you for the detailed video. Like BMW cars, Does this new model of IONIQ 5 also have the speed limiter feature for city driving? The previous model does not have this feature. Can you please share the video link in which you have shown the speed limiter feature?
Not sure how that works on BMWs. Hyundai cars have HDAs you can use on cities, but cars don’t necessarily limit the speed on its own except emergency cases.
Do you still have access to the old guages or are you stuck with only the new one? I really enjoyed the one that displayed the bars that looked like waves on the sides of the car for RPMs
Dear @CarsceneKorea, thank you for your great and extensive early review! What is your impression on the suspension of this PE model, especially over speed bumps and on roundabouts? We have them a lot in The Netherlands and in the first model I found the suspension somewhat too soft leading to being too bouncy for my liking. Has the suspension changed at all? Thanks, best regards
With every upgrade there is to the car, Hyundai would've looked into tuning the suspension; however, nothing too big that I could notice, the difference was well within the boundary of one car having 19s while the other 20s.
Great Tesla Model Y competitor , in my opinion better than tesla in many aspects . Offering a bit bigger battery ( 95kWh gross ) could be a real game changer.
What about the ICCU? I was about switching from a 2020 Kona EV to the IONIQ 2025 but then I found endless threads about dying ICCUs on the previous IONIQ. Now I am unsure if I should invest that much money in a car that might brake down every moment due to bad designed components. Did they change the design of this unit? Did they find the problem of the previous version?
IONIQ 5 N's suspension won't come any close to being "soft," but sure is daily possible. It isn't much different from the other ICE Ns when it comes to the "stiff ride quality."
Thank you for the great amount of detail in your videos. I am convinced to wait a bit until my Hyundai dealership starts selling this new enhanced model. There really is no big weakness with this car. The only thing I can think of is range, but let's be realistic: with minimum 400km in winter time (I would count -5C to -10C as average winter), living in the "long" Nordic countries, you can reach 95% of the population with 1 charging stop (if you start with full battery) so 800km (180-200% of battery). If I can get 400km mixed traffic year round, with 800V fast charging available (like we do in Finland/Nordics), with on-demand pre-heating, the battery problem is solved! - extremely spacious for its size - great amount of "common" tech and unique manufacturer tech - up to date connecitivity with USB-C and wireless Android/iOS - digital rear view mirror (hopefully it will be possible to get it WITHOUT also going with side mirrors). I am from Finland and I know it will be a helpful thing to have in snow storm conditions if the rear wiper is not doing its job - V2L!! Something most competitors STILL don't have... - common buttons back to being physical - rear seats are luxuriously spacios (this has to be mentioned twice hahaha) - extremely large panorama window (I don't mind having a shade, some manufacturers have digital dimming but physical blocker will help more with sun heat) - low touch lane assistance - pre-conditioning from a button will help with charging speeds in the winter So as of now, living in a country with long and cold winters, and AWD version would be the perfect EV. There are however two things I'd like to see all auto makers, not just Hyundai, try out (Korean manufacturers might have an edge on this ;) ) 1) OLED screens to help with darkening the cockpit. Many LG/Samsung OLEDs nowadays have good burn in protection. I understand if it is impossible to do it in a car vs. TV. In the winters it's dark at 16:00 here in the afternoon so it truly helps to have a very dark interior 2) possibility of ski hole in the middle arm rest. I don't think that it needs a lot of work engineering wise. It is simple to buy a skibox but even easier to just use the ski hole. :) Thanks a lot for the videos DKK!
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback and for watching our videos! I appreciate your suggestions. These features would certainly enhance the driving experience, particularly in darker and colder climates indeed. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to sharing more exciting automotive content with you :)
I don't think so, it won't just be adding the hardware, but also hooking it up with the wiring, steering wheel, etc., so you are looking at at least the steering wheel, wiper assembly (if there is any) and most likely the rear glass, which then we are talking about the entire rear boot, and we are only getting started...I mean it is not physically impossible, but will cost you an arm and a leg for sure.
I don’t have info on plugs. Hyundai Motor Group has been offering the suiting charging ports for each market. Does have auto lock walk away. LKA is the finest and latest one from the group.
@CarSceneKorea thanks. Yeah I think USA is supposed to get the nacs plug or same as tesla plug which will be awesome. But in korea which is it? At least this version u reviewed
My Ioniq5 21 is swinging between the lines in HDA. Is it crippled due to German regulations or just bad design? . The Tesla I drove keeps straight on the middle of the road. What about the front lights? They are rather mediocre, no matrix and not active as with Tesla. Does this change with model 25?
Tesla has the ultimate ADAS in the market indeed. This IONIQ 5 PE has HDA2, which is an upgrade from HDA1, obviously. It is also equipped with LKA2 - Lane Keeping Assist 2 - which ought to do better job than previous LKA1. There's also LFA2 - Lane Following Assist 2. Well, the simple answer to your question will be a yes.
Only half way into video so you may answer it, can you cover the sunroof? Or is it always open? It gets warm here and the sun through my roof heats up my vehicle so I have to close it a lot lol
Of course, thin layer of sheet cover meets in the middle and fully covers the Vision roof. Does get a bit warm during the hot summer time, but gets the job done!
One more question and I am sorry if this has been answered already. Do you know if there are any new 2025 paint colors and if they are discontinuing any current colors for 2025? TIA
@@CarSceneKorea oh no need to be sorry! I wasn't try to be pushy or make you feel guilty, I was just genuinely wondering when we can expect it haha. Take your time!
Although they look similar at a glance, ccNC itself also is the hardware as well, so early IONIQ 5 before PE will not get the same ccNC via OTA nor is it possible 🥲
How much would it cost to fix/replace the battery if it is damaged? Can Hyundai replace individual malfunctioning cell or would it be a full panel replacement?
@@CarSceneKorea I absolutely love this car but I’ve been hearing horror stories from Canada where ioniq owners have to pay or claim insurance $40k for total panel replacement. This is the only reason preventing me from buying this car.
this is an awesome ev no doubt..... but that retro look good at the same time not so hmm... lol juniper y lr awd vs this will be a great video. nice vid.
I was actually curious about the navigation system of Hyundai/Kia. Would you say it's reliable in comparison to Google Maps for example. Great video as usual!
Thanks as always! To be blunt, a third party navigation app which is correspondent to Google Maps here in Korea often do work better than the onboard nav. That's the reason why I have it running on my phone whenever I go to a destination I haven't been before. They sure are getting better over time though.
+ HMG navigation when used on freeway, the car will automatically slow down to a corresponding speed camera! Something that only HMG cars can do here in Korea :P
@@CarSceneKorea Oh wow, that's actually a pretty cool feature. I'm in Canada, and I think I was cruising at 110km at a 100km limit, and I realized I went through a camera. I'm afraid i'll be getting a ticket, something like this could have saved me haha
Question: on pedal mode, does it use the disk break combined with engine break? And if it does at what point it used disk break when car is almost try to completely stop or as soon as gas pedal is released it’s using engine and disk break combined? I am asking this to see if my disk breaks are in use or not. Thanks
I want to be 100% sure of this because I watch a video on TH-cam and CEO of Hyundai said it’s combination because at the end car needs to stop . Are you sure that there is no disk breaks involved?
I like this car, specially the design. My problem is the service. Hyundai charges a lot of money to service these EVs. Totally not worth it, specially being an EV.
Do you feel restricted only being able to drive around a relatively small country? If N. Korea and China were both friendly to S. Korea, and just waved S. Korean vehicles through their borders, would you like to explore N. Korea and/or China in your IONIQ 5 PE or Kia EV6 PE or Kia EV3? Or don’t you think N. Korea would have many EV charge points?
Why are the tyres measured in both inches and millimetres? You said two tyres were either 19 or 20 inch tyres, but they were either 235 or 255 mm wide! Surely they should be either, for example, 19” tyres which are 9.25” wide, or 482.6 mm tyres which are 235 mm wide? Tyre manufacturers should stick to one unit of measurement, either inches or millimetres.
Quite sad to learn that the light gray dashboard display is substituted against just another boring black one. I really like that style making the car lighter and spacier.
Went to Hyundai today but they couldn’t tell me the projected residue value. I’ve leased vehicles before and knew, at the point of purchase, the buy out price. Is this common for the Ioniq 5?
@@CarSceneKorea Thanks; interestingly enough, after I posted a friend of mine, who seriously considered buying the Hyundai didn’t for the very reason of unknown devaluation. In a sense, isn’t not knowing the projected value as the vehicle ages an extension of range anxiety, the hobgoblin of EV’s?
You know, N is very different from a regular model. As a previous Veloster N owner and forever Nthusiast, the answer will always be N for me, but unless you know what you are signing up for with the I5N, I'd recommend the PE.
@@CarSceneKorea and do you think range-wise the N is going to perform as well above their official number as it did with the PE? provided you drive it like the PE 😂
@@devtekve1396 For sure, both cars use the same platform; E-GMP and it is proven by many. However, the difference won't be as great as you would see with the PE when it comes to N.
@@devtekve1396 All HMG EVs thus far provide more driving range than proposed by the manufacturer, especially when you take the numbers given from the Korean market - Korean government's test is notorious for being really harsh compared to other measurements around the globe.
@@CarSceneKorea I hope so. If I want heads up display I have to get a Canadian model. As well as retractable mirrors. The camera features you mention are not available in the US or Canada as I write this. Some really nice options in Korea!!!

@@CarSceneKorea I only have to wait until November 19th for it to arrive! Can’t wait. 👍
I think the Advance base model is all that I need as it comes very well equipped
@@CarSceneKorea But was it still using battery preconditioning to heat up the battery at that charge level?
@@ShadowHolder748 sounds like he still doesn’t understand
Thanks for the review. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is one amazing EV! Especially the N-version! Kudos to Hyundai!!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks bro im going to order one today - love from UK!
Your Review made me go to a Hyundai Dealer and Order a new Ioniq5 right away. All the bugs that enoyed me are gone. Looking forward to get it in january. Greets frol germany
Congrats! You will love it🥰
Same! I'll get my in Feb. Looking forward! Also greetings from Germany!
They assume that once you plug in the cable you will never plug it out
Incredible review. Thanks. I have a 2021 Ioniq5 in matte gray, bought it used with 20k miles. It's so fabulous.
Glad you're enjoying it, it's a great car!
Hiii Carscene korea thankyou for the new video👌
My pleasure!! 😇
The most impressive thing is how much feedback Hyundai actually heard and listened to. It seems like most of the issues or annoyances people had with the previous model were addressed. That's really commendable. They have been acting like a great company z
What was yours? I'd say the button type shifter :P

Thanks for the feedback, I didn't know the CC turns back on after you turn it off 🥲
What do you mean by round guages that fit inside the steering wheel?
Great review, appreciate all the time you spent putting this together.
My pleasure, I mean it :)
I know it's not as unique, but I think the black bezel looks so much better on the dash.
You're not alone😉
Did you ever use Utility Mode and notice any upgrades to the PE version? IIRC some people were complaining on the original cars about the difficulty of being able to lock the car while keeping the car in Utility Mode and walking away (e.g. to keep their dog comfy). Love the videos, thanks!
Although not included in the video, the utility mode shows how much hours left to be used, a bit more info than before. However, I don't think there is the "Dog mode," like that of Tesla's just yet. I couldn't find any during my test drive, nor have I seen one from fellow reviewers.
Great review, thanks for sharing your experience with us ! 👍 The more I learn about that car, the more I think it's going to be my next car. 😁
Count me in😂
The navigation improved with the latest update.
Thank you for the great, thorough reviews.
I'm really looking forward to your review of the updated Genesis GV60 when it arrives.
Glad you like it! 👍
Thanks! Will do! :)
Thanks! I'd love to see the N line version as well. I like the look of that one because it got rid of the silver details around the wheels and doors. Have the prices come out yet?
Yes for domestic market, it is about $2,000 USD more approximately.
I love your video!!
Thanks 🙌
great review. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you like it! 👍
I think manufactures should adopt Waze into their navigation setup, if possible.
That'd be lovely, localization very needed on that part indeed.
Great review thank you.
Great car.
My only reservation is that it does not have a Full Console. Centre Console is nice but I really do not like the open floor space in front of the Centre Console.
Deal breaker for me.... yes.
Besides the DSM, which I think the US cars won’t have, is there any other changes between the Korean version and the US version?
Since I have access to Korean models only for the obvious reason, I hope US owners could spot the difference 👀
Thanks for telling me about the noise my garage tells me it makes no noise now I can tell them.
Can you tell us how the sound system of the PE model sounds compared to the first ioniq 5? And how does it compare to the sound system of the Genesis GV60?
I don't really go over audio system on my review since I am no expert, but I always do love BOSE system on Hyundai.
The white display bezel was a beautiful design element that complemented the Ioniq 5’s overall vibe. Very sad to see it go away.
It was indeed a unique touch.
Great video! I noticed that the Ioniq 5 you are driving does not have Forward Attention Warning, that is the camera on the steering column to monitor the driver. Is it not available on it, even though cheaper models like the Kona and Tucson get it?
There is the visible detecting device on Genesis, I am not sure about IONIQ 5 like you've pointed out.
I really like the PE! It might be my next car in the beige/tan interior.
I want one too 😭
Does the new PE version still have the interior ambient lighting on the higher trims? Like around the Bose speaker, inside the door grip etc?
Hope you can spot it on the night POV video.
I just realized the cluster changed. Can you go back to the old wing style or is it just black circles :(
The latter unfortunately.
Some countries with severe weather condition do need them badly 🥲(What I was told by my viewers)
@@CarSceneKorea that’s oftentimes true, but also depends on the car’s shape/design, so the problem is a bit complex. :)
Some car designs cause mud to stick more to the rear window than others, and in some countries, you get more of the wet mud.
They are slowly working on it, a few HMG cars do allow TH-cam.
Has there been more development/optimization in the headlights of the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 model compared to the 2024 model?. 🤔
The IFS :)
Huge question for me is what would you say the financial worth this is? Is the upgrade worth 5/10/15k??
The old model year is selling on huuuuge deals right now. The new year has amazing upgrades but saving 15k on a car is hard to pass up in this economy
The first IONIQ 5 came out to be a near perfect daily, family EV SUV I'd say. If the saving is huge, I'd always go with the first one.
@ awesome thank you, appreciate the insight!
Has the need to keep a 12-volt emergency power pack in the IONIQ 5 been fixed? Several people complained that the 12-volt battery would go flat on original versions, and people kept an emergency power pack in their cars just in case the 12-volt battery went flat.
I hope that it’s possible to have regular mirrors. I’d pay more to not have those cameras.
Regular mirrors are standard :)
I wish we had an option to have those cameras here in US, cuz regular mirrors are boring!
Bring back the drawer! What is the capacity of the new glovebox compared to our favourite drawer?
Couldn't really measure it, but it is bigger than a typical glovebox we've seen, almost as big as the drawer I'd like to say.
Great reviews, any idea when the UK will get the updated Ioniq 5 ?
Well, it's the 2025! model, isn't it? :)
The delay between Korea and Europe is usually 5 to 6 months( end of summer), but they will open a new production line in the US for the US market, so we in Europe won't have to fight them in orders. The other issue is shipping, which has been disrupted, so it may prolong.
@@Dqtube Thanks for the detailed info. Brand new cars indeed take around 6 months to reach other parts of the globe.
I’m a bit confused, do I understand correctly, that this one gets the capacitive style hand on detection on the steering wheel, but the Ioniq 5N does not?
That is true, I5N must've been under development far before this PE model and don't get confused Ns are always about the performance before anything.
great observation
I'm excited they are using a hand sensor vs torque, I am not a fan of the torque systems. I will say I don't like how often Hyundai remaps the accelerator. Rather than changing the full curve they could change the response time and the amount of regen, but not the position. They could then cap the accel in Eco unless you floor it. This would achieve the same effect without the annoyance of constant accelerator remapping for every small regen change via the paddles. Here's hoping we get the laws for side mirrors and matrix headlights fixed in the US so we can get the DSM and other goodies.
Thank you for your effort.
My pleasure!
Was the sound system upgraded or is it still the same?
It does have BOSE, not much info if it is upgraded or not.
Hate the mirrors but other than that looks slick
We are only just now seeing the 2025 in Canada, 8 months after this video. The Canadian 2025s are being made in Korea for now, not the USA.
It usually takes around six months for new models to make their way to other parts of the world - or even longer, depending on the market🥲
I always wondered if the drag coefficient is so important, then why do manufacturers still produce SUV's?
That's because a lot of people want SUVs :)
So trying their best to reduce the Cd within an SUV.
Great video thanks! I am not a fan (at all) of the new steering wheel shape "T". I like being able to have my hand at the very bottom of the wheel when I drive. Thoughts?
I also like that very much, but it is best to always have your both hands at 3 and 9 o’clock 😣
I also like that very much, but it is best to always have your both hands at 3 and 9 o’clock 😣
I don't think there's that animation for the PE model.
@@CarSceneKorea thank you for your reply, good to know
Great Tesla Model Y competitor , in my opinion better than tesla in many aspects . Offering a bit bigger battery ( 95kWh gross ) could be a real game changer.
Sure does sound like it would be!
But 2024 offers 2 years of free charging. What do you think about it?
That'd be worth it if you drive a lot!
@CarSceneKorea What would you choose?
It's always the latest car for me.
Will all these (great) modifications also transfer to the 5N?
Nothing confirmed, but will most likely be if we ever see the facelift.
Recalls for Korean market on the ICCU.
@3:22 Having front and back recording is better than no video recording at all. Maybe next update. 🤔
Indeed.
We are tempted to get the Ioniq 5 N. I love the N but my wife wants a softer ride. Do you know if the N has an acceptable "comfort" mode?
IONIQ 5 N's suspension won't come any close to being "soft," but sure is daily possible. It isn't much different from the other ICE Ns when it comes to the "stiff ride quality."
Maybe it is possible to change from 275/35ZR21 to the 255/45R20 or even more comfy 235/55R19
Do you know if the brakes will fit?
- extremely spacious for its size
- great amount of "common" tech and unique manufacturer tech
- up to date connecitivity with USB-C and wireless Android/iOS
- digital rear view mirror (hopefully it will be possible to get it WITHOUT also going with side mirrors). I am from Finland and I know it will be a helpful thing to have in snow storm conditions if the rear wiper is not doing its job
- V2L!! Something most competitors STILL don't have...
- common buttons back to being physical
- rear seats are luxuriously spacios (this has to be mentioned twice hahaha)
- extremely large panorama window (I don't mind having a shade, some manufacturers have digital dimming but physical blocker will help more with sun heat)
- low touch lane assistance
- pre-conditioning from a button will help with charging speeds in the winter
So as of now, living in a country with long and cold winters, and AWD version would be the perfect EV.
There are however two things I'd like to see all auto makers, not just Hyundai, try out (Korean manufacturers might have an edge on this ;) )
1) OLED screens to help with darkening the cockpit. Many LG/Samsung OLEDs nowadays have good burn in protection. I understand if it is impossible to do it in a car vs. TV. In the winters it's dark at 16:00 here in the afternoon so it truly helps to have a very dark interior
2) possibility of ski hole in the middle arm rest. I don't think that it needs a lot of work engineering wise. It is simple to buy a skibox but even easier to just use the ski hole. :)
Thanks a lot for the videos DKK!
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback and for watching our videos!
I appreciate your suggestions. These features would certainly enhance the driving experience, particularly in darker and colder climates indeed.
Thank you for your support, and I look forward to sharing more exciting automotive content with you :)
Greetings from Germany :-)
Hello there! 🇩🇪
Do you think that Hyundai will offer rear wiper kits at the dealership to add them to older models?
I don't think so, it won't just be adding the hardware, but also hooking it up with the wiring, steering wheel, etc., so you are looking at at least the steering wheel, wiper assembly (if there is any) and most likely the rear glass, which then we are talking about the entire rear boot, and we are only getting started...I mean it is not physically impossible, but will cost you an arm and a leg for sure.
I am 'team drawer' 😊. Also, team black bezel 👍
Bring it back 🙌
Do u know if all models will have NACS plug for the US? Does it have auto lock as one walks away? Is the LKA smoother or actually works? Thanks
Korean EVs from HMG get CCS.
@@CarSceneKorea just to clarify, dose the 2025 have a auto lock walk away??
Is the dashcam function also available when parking? (Like tesla „sentry mode“
You cannot live stream it, but can view it later on.
Does this version now allows V2G?
V2L, V2V is official terms covered by Hyundai IONIQ 5, no mention about V2G.
@@CarSceneKorea Much appreciated that you replied and thanks for the info. This makes the Ioniq5 PE much more interesting to me.
@@CarSceneKorea awesome! Appreciate the reply!
One more question and I am sorry if this has been answered already. Do you know if there are any new 2025 paint colors and if they are discontinuing any current colors for 2025? TIA
There will be red color for the first time, although it is for N-Line only. Ultimate Red Metallic, the red Hyundai's been using for a while.
What is the device you have in the magnet plate next to the steering wheel? Is that to attach your phone to?
It's a credit card storage for my iPhone magsafe.
When available for USA purchase?
Starting in around October 2024. I'll be taking a look at purchasing in Q1 of 2025 when the factory works out any kinks in the assembly line :)
@@usaf2011 we have heard that Hyundai will be adding the Tesla connector to 2025 EV's. Is this possible?

Hi, thanks! can you actually tell if the new infosystem will be OTA update for 2021 Ioniq 5? if so, when such improvements will be released?
Although they look similar at a glance, ccNC itself also is the hardware as well, so early IONIQ 5 before PE will not get the same ccNC via OTA nor is it possible 🥲
Can the on board Navigation and a navigation app like waze run at the same time?
You could run them both, just can't show them both at the same time.
How much would it cost to fix/replace the battery if it is damaged? Can Hyundai replace individual malfunctioning cell or would it be a full panel replacement?
I have no clue, my plates are full introducing newly released cars running the channel on my own 🥲
@@CarSceneKorea I absolutely love this car but I’ve been hearing horror stories from Canada where ioniq owners have to pay or claim insurance $40k for total panel replacement. This is the only reason preventing me from buying this car.
Thank you from Ukraine. I want this car 🥲
Will this model be com8ng to Aistralia soon please?
If you got the first IONIQ 5, most likely.
this is an awesome ev no doubt..... but that retro look good at the same time not so hmm... lol juniper y lr awd vs this will be a great video. nice vid.
Don't forget, this car's been out for three years already!
Thanks
It only uses regen on iPedal. No physical brakes.
I want to be 100% sure of this because I watch a video on TH-cam and CEO of Hyundai said it’s combination because at the end car needs to stop . Are you sure that there is no disk breaks involved?
I'd go with the CEO, but the ioniq used permanent magnet motors that are capable of coming to a full stop and holding it, unlike inductive motors.
@@markrichards5280 I am with Mark on this one, although I couldn't find an absolute answer to that.
See I was never bothered not having a rear wiper, I think I prefer not having it. I'd rather have a digital rear mirror instead.
I like this car, specially the design. My problem is the service. Hyundai charges a lot of money to service these EVs. Totally not worth it, specially being an EV.
How much weight can the new PE model carry in kg compared to the previous model?
Not specified by Hyundai, I think it'd be safe to assume it's the same.
@@CarSceneKorea GVWR should be stamped on the driver's side door pillar, with the metallic info card.
Does it have a heat pump?
Yep.
@CarSceneKorea thank you. How long it takes to charge 20-80% 0n 50 kw and 150 kw charger please.
I love driving cars, and that sure will be my destination if it becomes a possibility.
You have a point, but it’s been that way for years and I have no say in that whatsoever😭
Just got my 24 SEL. Wish I would’ve known about the 25 model :/
It typically takes about six months for new models to reach other parts of the globe 🥲so you made the right choice :)
@@CarSceneKorea Very happy the timing on the new 25 I5 N-line will line up with my need for a new car! hoping to lease it for 2 years
Quite sad to learn that the light gray dashboard display is substituted against just another boring black one. I really like that style making the car lighter and spacier.
Went to Hyundai today but they couldn’t tell me the projected residue value. I’ve leased vehicles before and knew, at the point of purchase, the buy out price. Is this common for the Ioniq 5?
I have no information with regard to that, sorry.
Still a relatively new market indeed.
Does it make a noise to warn people of it's approach at under 30mph.
Makes the EV noise which is mandated by the law, if this is what you are referring to!
Where did you get the phone holder from ?
Referring to action cam mounts, I suppose? Look up "PARAGRAP," not sure if they do international shipping though.
Apple CarPlay is wireless ?
Yep, as well as Android Auto.
Ioniq 5 N vs Ioniq 5 PE, which one would you pick?
@@CarSceneKorea Would you not consider the N-Line instead as a "middle-ground?"
we can't get these updates in the US ... too bad. I asked Hyundai and they skirted the question.
Not all the techs as Korean spec, but this model will come!
@@CarSceneKorea I hope so. If I want heads up display I have to get a Canadian model. As well as retractable mirrors. The camera features you mention are not available in the US or Canada as I write this. Some really nice options in Korea!!!
Did you happen to mention what trim this is?
It is loaded model, top of the line.
@@CarSceneKorea Do you have any idea what the upholstery looks like in the lower ends of the '25? Still fabric?
@@CenryHavill I believe so, those made from sustainable materials.
