I love how both Stompas look side by side, with one yellow with red accent with a grabby arm coming out of his belly, like he's ready to collect all the scrap on the battlefield, and the other red with yellow accent, with this massive amount of guns shoved in it, ready to make more scrap. Da Great Wreckeata and the Da Big Scrapmaka!
I dunno why, but the ork in the crows nest really does it for me. It just immediately pulls this narrative in my mind of the little guy calling out targets to the gun crews... the giant stompa laboriously turning, before unleashing an entirely unreasonable amount of firepower downstream. Its a great touch, and putting those models up there and along the scaffolding really gives scale to the whole thing.
I think it would have been really funny to stick an ork arm with a shoota out from the belly like one of the orks got excited and stuck it through the wall of guns so he could do some blasting of his own!
The piece of receipt roller you added to the project turned out bad ass. I like that it looks like they found and scavenged a few dirty pieces of the original Stompa. I really liked this one.
Well its weird coming across a random TH-cam video that references someone you know irl. My sister use to work at the same harveys as Dave. Had to rewind like 6 times just to confirm i wasnt going crazy. Dude is a mega amazing artist
Haha, that's amazing! Small world for sure. He is a fantastic artist, he even made me a really cool piece based on this project, really nice dude and very talented!
Really enjoyed this. I also felt originally disappointed you didn't do the original stompa with Dakka crammed in the middle. Glad you revisited the concept. That video inspired me to get back into the hobby though. I bought a cheap vindicator someone had attempted to convert into a battlewagon using far too much superglue and half covered in house paint. I cleaned everything off (mostly, still need to do a final clean) and combined it with a base battlewagon I had that was missing the Ard case and killcanon upgrades. The resulting kit-bash resulted in a front that vaguely resembles a vindicator, with front tracks flipped over and exhausts removed, flipped and attached to one side, the canon sits above the front square amor plates which rest almost perfectly over the battlewagons grill, which I had to separate and reposition (most of the original battlewagon is still there, but had to be separated and moved). Naturally I added sharp pointy bits to those armor plates, turning them into teef. I used remaining armor and plasticard to create an Ard case which I can slot in and out at the back like the official ones. My biggest frustration at the moment is I'm in this weird situation where I'm vaguely uncertain as to whether it's finished or not. Or whether I need to start adding a few final panels, do my rivets and a final clean and start painting. It's hard to know when a custom piece is finished. It's a little frustrating.
That sounds like a great project, and welcome back! Way to dive in head first too :) It’s always super hard to know when it’s “done” especially for ork stuff. Even doing this stomps I was questioning myself up until the end on whether or not to add more stuff, but at the end of the day I could sit back and say, yeah, that looks sweet, and that has always been a good indicator for me to just stop and appreciate what a model is. And honestly, you can always go back even after it’s painted to add more stuff :)
So, ai know thos is a year late, but for anyone else struggling with this; I don't assemble or paint minis, but as a model artist in general, if you feel you can't decide whether it's finished or not, take a small break and see how you feel when coming back to it. I have ruined many a project by deciding it was finished too early or butchering an already decent job by thinking it was unfinished. Right now I'm having to restart my E2046 GK contest entry from near scratch because it's just got too much paint on it as a result of bad design and repaint choices lol
Thanks for your reply! I think I will revisit it again. I think I actually went overboard with the paint and am rethinking painting it to have a few patches of Ultramarine colours, but otherwise go hard with bare metal and rubbed back rust
I am so glad this video exists. Like many, I was disappointed that the original concept was lost on the first video, but now, It's truly a sight to behold. Excellent work, really enjoyed this one.

Very much appreciated! Im really happy that I was able to get to it sooner than later. I just happened across another stomps and it made perfect sense!
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Funny how it works out, eh? Speaking of, I'm glad you included that bit about how long and expensive this build was. Amazing work Casey. I like how the two Stompas look similar enough that they look like they belong in the same game and army, but different enough to sell the crazy, chaotic nature of the Orks. It's a tough balancing act but done perfectly here!
plastic card is a MUST when assembling any Ork vehicle. Lets you cover up accidents, add extra armour to areas that need it and even create some custom little areas like enclosed cabs or gun housing. Just make sure to rough up the edges with your hobby knife and add rivets using 1mm plastic rod.

I so enjoyed watching these two stompa videos, seeing them both together at the end was fantastic! Keep up the amazing stuff, it's why I keep coming back despite not having made or painted a mini in a few years!
I reckon they would've tied chains from the horns on the head to the skull "bonnet" on the front to keep it open for the guns. These are both very cool.
I had my ork army stolen a few years back and haven't painted a ork since. I have been collecting them since the 80's. This video has made me want to start collecting and painting them again! Thank you for your video!

Very cool! I also like to field super old models, it’s super satisfying to see a whole army like that on the table. My Eldar are all from the mid 90s :)
Tip for ya man. After years of experimenting with stripping plastic I actually found 1 thing that works and works well but it is ONLY this 1 product. Cutex Acetone Free. Its a browny orange colour, leave it in for half an hour, pull it out then scrub off the paint with an tooth brush ((one thats quite chunky and thick would help more)). This is how I resurrected all my original 2nd ed minatures from when I first started :) For metal though you need celulose thinners ((car paint stripper)).
Yea I am so glad you revisited this, I felt you did the original model a grave injustice not working with the original design to turn it into something highly workable. It was less of a rescue and more of a refurbishment. I'm glad you're finally righting this wrong.

12 minutes in and I’m already feeling your pain for painting this beautiful monstrosity. Oh man I had no idea what this video was going to be but man I am glad I decided to watch.
That Grot with the big swinging Hammer though, that little one made the hole thing come together. just imagine those guys squeeing to each other, where to make room for more Dakka
Excellent dakka well done my friend I love how you are able to incorporate the original idea make it look much more clean and purposeful, but still like it was slapped together by a bunch of bloodthirsty mushroom boys
I love the crows nest gobbo. I feel they’re less about tactics and more sports commentator for carnage, and is getting piped though loudspeakers to hype up the crew.
When you look at the thumbnail without reading the title and your first thought is _'Wow, that is one colorful Dalek!',_ then you know that something really went wrong here.
I haven't watched one of your videos in a long time, I'm glad this was the one I came back to. Your airbrush control is amazing, the model looks great!
spilling guts of guns was is and was just a great idea for a stompa. okay so I do have some critique, mainly the symmetry in the belly really doesn't look very orky. you gotta add the wonk factor and you played it safer than you could have, just stacking things in there neatly
This is awesome. Has that "patchwork make do with what you got" (very goblin and orc) feel but and the same time feels and looks like it was natural. Again love the videos.
Under no circumstances do I have the patience to do anything like that, or the skills, or the creativity. However, I super love seeing the end result of somebody who has the passion and the skills to make these things. It turned out super cool!
I love how you resurrected the original idea behind the yellow stompa, it is extremely satisfying to see this.

12 minutes in and I’m already feeling your pain for painting this beautiful monstrosity. Oh man I had no idea what this video was going to be but man I am glad I decided to watch.
Really enjoyed the old style video. Beautiful work, great narrative, awesome mini.
That Grot with the big swinging Hammer though, that little one made the hole thing come together.
just imagine those guys squeeing to each other, where to make room for more Dakka
All I can say is: Moar Dakka! >:)
Excellent dakka well done my friend I love how you are able to incorporate the original idea make it look much more clean and purposeful, but still like it was slapped together by a bunch of bloodthirsty mushroom boys
Man.. I definitely do not want to fight with any of those... Those are some beautiful intimidating looking Stompas!
I love the crows nest gobbo. I feel they’re less about tactics and more sports commentator for carnage, and is getting piped though loudspeakers to hype up the crew.
He’s just up there having the best time, he’s the best :)
YO I WORK AT WHERE YOU BOUGHT THIS FROM. I REMEMBER WALKING PAST IT IN THE WAREHOUSE FOR MONTHS
When you look at the thumbnail without reading the title and your first thought is _'Wow, that is one colorful Dalek!',_ then you know that something really went wrong here.
Glad you decided to revive the idea of the OG rescue, I waned to see a gunned up one bad
That extra time on this really paid off. It looks so good!
ngl I was really hoping you'd paint it lime green :P
looks great in red though!
Some day you should do a battle report using both your stompas
That would be fun. Im still building out my hobby space, but I absolutely would love to record games someday.
They are the true Ork built avatars of Gork and Mork, love 'em. Waaargh.
The best looking stompa i have ever seen, love it.
I had my doubts Casey, but once again you pulled it off. Nice job.
Perfect amount of orky ridiculousness, in the best way! Awesome stuff, Casey!
I haven't watched one of your videos in a long time, I'm glad this was the one I came back to. Your airbrush control is amazing, the model looks great!
Wow that was juste quality. You did a great job and you Can feel the effort Put in. Please continue 👍
spilling guts of guns was is and was just a great idea for a stompa.
okay so I do have some critique, mainly the symmetry in the belly really doesn't look very orky. you gotta add the wonk factor and you played it safer than you could have, just stacking things in there neatly
That things a mini? Dang, I wanna see a full size ha
How meny guns?
All of them! 👌
Moar Dakka!! Always! MOAR! DAKKA!
I don't know anything about warhammer but definitely enjoy seeing these builds. keep it up 👍
This thing is incredible. Best video yet IMO
Thanks Casey! This was definitely worth the wait! Well done Sir!
This is awesome. Has that "patchwork make do with what you got" (very goblin and orc) feel but and the same time feels and looks like it was natural. Again love the videos.
Very interesting. The washs brought a Lot of details out!
Under no circumstances do I have the patience to do anything like that, or the skills, or the creativity. However, I super love seeing the end result of somebody who has the passion and the skills to make these things. It turned out super cool!
I think that orks wouldn't have the patience to make something symmetrical
Great job on this one. I appreciate the effort and time you put in to this one
I don't say this lightly, I believe this is by far your best work to date
