Two things. 1) The RG Nano does not taste good. 2) You can change the main menu layout to the Funkey Main Menu layout by pressing the "menu" button on the side of the device when in the main menu itself. It looks much better this way!

Anbernic is making their devices on every price point and answering to all its competitors while still maintaining a certain degree of consistency in their lineups which in my opinion make them the best manufacturer of retro handhelds.

Even though I'm loving the Funkey S. I still hope they (or anyone else) would create a regular sized clamshell with the full FunkeyOS on it. Simply a Funkey S upscaled by 300% or so. Would instant buy.

Same! I love the funkey os but my knuckles hurt trying to play mine lol. I am thinking about getting the powkiddy one with funkey os. I’ve heard it’s easier on the hands. Screen still tiny though

I got my Funkey S last friday and I'm loving it.
It's the first emulator handheld I have and it's amazing how well it plays games, even PS1.
Currently playing Pokemon Blue, Castlevania (NES) and Tekken 2.
The only changes I would love to see in a future Funkey device is a better screen for GBA games and headphone jack/ USB-C

Id rather they send make it as an entry level Nintendo handheld with modern game support(meant for the limited controls obviously) meant for the small screen(this would get rid of what's basically devices biggest weakness right now which is games not scaling for it properly). It's basically as powerful with the same resolution as the new3ds do it could get some third party exclusives with Nintendos weight behind it since it takes less effort to develop for then hd consoles and I was thinking vampire survivors and ffx would be perfect for this console(though vampire survivors wouldn't run in a thousand years).

@@RetroDodo The entire FunKeyOS development is centered around the RetroFE menu. I'd update the review, as this is the central part of the experience. For all the naysayers: the nano is surprisingly playable, even for 4:3 consoles and GBA. Maybe not the best for shooters, but great for platformers, driving games, side scrollers, pinball, Pokemon, etc. etc.
controls feel just right and are accurate, screen is clear. games with small text are tough, but any handheld systems work great too.
The best thing is, you can always have it with you to play anywhere and not even notice you're carrying it. fits in the watch pocket of jeans. I carry mine in a car fob case on my keychain, fits great.

With as vibrant as this red and blue are, I was excited to look at the purple one since that's my daughter's favorite color and she has been really getting into retro gaming as she gets older and better at video games. I came back here this evening and clicked on the referral link and the purple one looks like a turd. Why they gotta be like that? What a weird choice. The red and especially the blue look amazing. Seriously considering the blue to replace my RG351M when traveling since it is so pocketable and I mainly play 2D games. The only downside seems to be the battery capacity. I wonder if there is any extra room inside to do a battery upgrade? It would be cool if that guy you hired to do more content on your channel could do some videos on modding the more popular systems.

I would have liked this if it only had 2 buttons on the front, with a bigger spacing and/or size. I don't mind losing PS1 and SNES playability, considering the screen is far to small for those games anyway. Just like on my TrimUI ModelS, I would only play GB/CBG and GG.

I loved my gameboy micro 🙂 being able to watch those pokemon episodes was awesome and some of the best games I played on it was the legend o zelda minish cap! I fell in love with the mini devices and micro devices, they're just perfect for those titles. I'd love Nintendo to just do an anniversary edition of some type of mini gameboy or micro like that. They never will because Switch everything but just one time would be amazing.

I’d like to see Nintendo make a handheld that’s sub $99 and just plays everything that’s on NSO. Just hook it up to wifi now & again to ensure you have an account, and you’re golden. A Miyoo Mini is much bigger, but there are tons of small carrying cases plus Onion OS so it's a real product that feels like a genuine gaming console.
This really isn't very practical. If it was $20, at least you wouldn't care so much about the screen.
