X570 Aorus xtreme was literally the best look mobo. Cable connections horizontal. Very simple and beautiful high end board. Wish they made something like that for AM5
That top NVME SSD heatsink looks awfully close to the first PCiE slot there. Even if it doesn't get in the way, I wonder how effective it would be in transferring heat away from the SSD when it's so close to another heat-generating component ie. the GPU backplate.
Thank you for this. I only buy the Aorus Master boards and I am chomping at the bit to find out about the NVME configurations for the new one. Dreaming of slapping a 9800X3D in one and calling it a day.
I wonder how difficult it would be to change the CMOS battery. I guess the x670e Master saw some user's batteries need to be replaced and apparently it was a bit of a job to get access to that boards battery, including removing that model's backplate. I see this board's battery is halfway covered by part of the NVMe enclosure. I wonder if the battery is difficult to remove from there?
3:49 if fan headers will be pointed downside in some cases there will be no possibility to connect fans because of lack of space between MB and PSU shroud
7 of my 8 AM5 builds are open box Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX b650/x670. With a local used $120 Asus B650e-e ROG for my 8th. So far besides bloated Gigabyte software I like Gigabyte boards. Big step up since previous x570 Aorus Elite boards. They were simply the best bang for the buck AM5 boards. 4 NVMe drives, excellent VRM, awesome GPU raised latch that is amazing for my Noctua D15 systems. Avg price paid was about $100 for x670 and $70 for b650. My upgrades were all very little out of pocket costs. I wanted to get rid of AM4 hardware quick before market got too saturated. Many am4 to am5 cost me zero out of pocket.
How is it possible that there is still an NDA on it - the manual with all the details is on the Gigabyte site since the 12th of September and here in Switzerland the board is in stock - if I buy it now I will receive it on the 24th of September .....
Get a b650 for 150£. Put the extra money towards a gpu. I have a msi b650 gaming wifi with a 7900 xtx and ryzen 7800 x3d. It destroys all games 4k and 1440p

Buy gigabyte realtek intenet plug and play and lover input than intel crap. Only dont like Gigabyte control center very limited and audio worse than asus.
Over the years I've had quite a few Gigabyte boards. When Zen 4 launched the only options I had was the Asus Crossfire and a 7950X (bought a 7800x3D later). This is the first time in a long time I feel zero urge or see any reason to "upgrade" anything. I used to buy a lot of motherboards and just resell the ones I didn't want. Those days are gone for now I guess.
I love my 670E Aorus Master. It actually is very similar in both looks and functionality (aside from the upgraded ethernet and usb 4 DP on the IO). Even the NVME is exactly the same. When are these being released exactly, and do you know if AMD is expanding the SFF lineup of mobos?
The difference between this gen and the last is USB and memory stability. It's the same amount of lanes, (for the X870E. They took away the second chipset from the non-E) so I/O will be similar. Just a few less to dedicate to the USB4. Now that WiFi 7 has been out for a while, that should be more popular now. If you have a stable system with X670, there's no point in upgrading. Also, AMD isn't who determines the form factor of the boards. The manufacturers make the boards. If they don't see a point in them, they won't make them.
I don't like Gigabyte's decission of having 3 PCIE5 Nvmes at the cost of sharing lanes with GPU. And every motherboard in the X870E-X870 range faces the same issue. Is there something wrong with PCIE 4.0 drives? On the other, Asrock offers just 1 PCIE 5.0 M.2. and a couple of PCIE 4.0 ones. It will bet between the Asrock Nova and the MSI X870 Tomahawk for me. I have yet to check what is the PCIe lane distribution on the Tomahawk.
I got a 9950X and the Aorus Elite because the X870E master race version is twice the price here in NZ. We get knobbed hard on hardware prices here for some reason, e.g., average price of a RTX 4090 works out at 2500 USD. I am not too sure what I miss out on just getting the plebeian version. Less PCI-E I lanes guess. Oh well, I saved 600 NZD and doubt I'll need the extra lanes. What I do need is thermal paste. I had some sent out, but it did not arrive. I rummaged through my stuff trying to find my Noctua goop, but nah. That's good in a way, because I am not I a hurry and now I am planning the upgrade properly, e.g., remembering to back up my files etc lol. Not looking forward to a clean install of Windows and all my digital audio software. So much stuff. I hope my browser correctly backs up all my logon creds, so I can get all my audio plugins working again without excessive hassle. Yeah, I do not enjoy effing around with computer building like I used to back in the Win 95 days.
Is there any X870E motherboards out their at this moment that can take at least 3 M.2 Nvme SSD in it without affecting the GPU slot down from 16 to 8? I know the X670E version of this motherboard your showing here up above if you put anything in the top M.2 Nvme slot you do affect the GPU slot down from 16 to 8.
Gigabyte has the nicest white Boards. But i have read about problems with their RGB software. Does this affect their other software too? How is Gigabyte by software updates and how good is the BIOS?
How accessible is the CMOS battery? I can see it half sticking out at the bottom. On the X670E Aorus Master it's a disaster, you have to remove the chipset heatsink and the backplate to get at the battery, which obviously means you have to completely strip down the system and take the board out of the case. A complete disaster if you are watercooling like I am! My first one came with a dead CMOS battery earlier this year, and after I stripped down the system to replace the battery, it was dead again about 3 weeks later! Apparently it's a common issue with the X670E AM boards. But it's interesting that the X870E don't have a backplate like the X670E model does.
Dammit, now that you mention the WiFi port looking like that power connector, I won't be able to unsee it. This really does look like what a basic X870 was supposed to look like, but this is an E model, so an even higher price, for pretty basic features. X670E boards are really gonna be the goto, I guess.
It looks like a nice board, but the lack of proper 5.1 audio connectors on most X870E is disappointing, at least it uses the ALC1220 unlike most which are switching to that Realtek USB interface ALC40XX setup which is just flat-out worse and prone to issues. The PCI-E release latch seems to be the only thing new these boards really bring to the table. I'm curious to see if the platform has rectified some of the quirks such as long post times without context restore or having to manually key in all timings.
It's almost as if the average user doesn't use 5.1 audio and manufacturers collect data to back that up, so they cut it out to save themselves cost in manufacturing and part sourcing.
@@NyteStalker89 That's fine. They can continue their cost-cutting stupidity while charging more for less, I'll just buy a better product from their competitors who aren't afflicted by the same level of brainrot. This board has other issues anyway like only being able to use the first top two NVME slots without the PCIE 16x dropping to 8X.
It is sad that you are blocked on what you can tell us about the board but I can go to their website and download the manual. Getting close to my next build in white as the new gigabyte boards come out but they don't make a proper Board below the Master as they all have only 6 layer PCB. I will have to do my research and try to find another name brand. 8 Layer (Low Loss) 6 Layer (Mid Loss) signal loss to the memory.
Absolutely DISAPPOINTING mainboard. I'm sorry to have to say this, Gigabyte. (I'm a Gigabyte mainboard user myself.) A X870E board, a ‘high-end board’, with 4x M.2 slots, 2 of which are shared with the graphics card. So you can only really use two M.2 slots. And this is the case on all X870E boards from Gigabyte listed on the official Gigabyte website (Status: mid-September 2024). The X870 none E-boards (actually ‘newer‘ B650E boards) are even worse, because they have fewer PCIe lanes than the E-boards. And all this because of AMD requirements to install USB 4 on all newer boards. Nobody needs USB 4. Not even me as a creator (and gamer). I'm not going to pay a moon price for a board with such a weakness. You have to be stupid. Not to mention all the other cost-cutting measures. Compare the X870E Master with its direct predecessor. Extreme differences. The X870E is definitely not a purchase recommendation. None of the X870E and X870 boards. If you are looking for a good Gigabyte ‘high-end’ AM5 board, you should rather buy a X670E Master. The price and features are meanwhile okey (and you have 4x completely usable M.2 slots plus 3x PCIe slots for graphics cards and add-in cards). If you need USB 4 40G or faster LAN, you can use an add-in card. Just that simple.
What happened to the days when you get a decent , not even high end motherboard or GPU that you got software like video player software or 3D mark software etc. Sometimes the software I got with the motherboard or GPU was rubbish but I also got some good stuff free with the motherboard or GPU. I once got the full version of 3D mark 06 and a good dvd playing software.
Video player software? You mean VLC? Or one of numerous other free options? 3DMark is also.................... free for most benchmarks. Congrats on the coasters, I guess?
The PCIe lanes are distributed so silly. I want a 2*PCIe 5x8 slots board with two non sharing nvme at least. These are becoming very rare even amongst the most ridiculous expensive boards. Also at least one 10gb rj45 is a must for any creator, vand for those prices two should be present
I think the lack of of PCIE slots is a cop out. I know tracing is harder with PCIE-4.0/5.0 but for the prices they charge I'd expect to have at least a couple of 4x PCIE slots at the top of the board for add in cards. This one in particular is a bit better but having the PCIE slots at the bottom means if your hampered in cooling department if you want to do a chimney style cooling system.
I bet my eyes are going to water now i'm thinking of upgrading, my current mobo is a Z390 Aorus Master... I got it for £270 in early 2019 (£370 accounting for inflation)

They'll still charge for it just by the name alone. look at the BS that Asus are trying to pull with the TUF board where instead of X870E its using X870(B650e) unlike the previous which was X670E.
I was looking to switch from Asus to Gigabyte but after seeing this board, I am kind of getting turned off. It’s a shame because I just got their 32 inch pro oled monitor And I’m super happy with it
It's just as annoying that with windows 10 they done away with 5.1 audio via optical. I always prefer the optical out because the audio is clearer and cleaner plus there's just one cable for the audio.
This motherboard is a slight downgrade of the X670E version. For example, the top PCIE x16 slot does not share lanes with the top 2 m.2 gen5 slots (directly connected to the CPU) on the X670E version, so you can populate them both without downgrading the x16 to x8 speeds. Which is what I'm currently doing. On this new one however, you can only use 1 of them. If you use both the CPU controlled m.2 slots, the GPU slot becomes an x8 slot. This isn't an issue for this generation of GPUs or the next, but it looks like the RTX 6090, if that's what Nvidia decides to call it, might be bottlenecked by x8 speeds. So buyers beware.
The aorus elite versions (both black and white) actually look better in every way. The only real difference there is 5G vs 2.5G RJ45 port. The rest is peanuts. Elites cost about 40% less and are way better value for money for sure. I don't really get whats the point of X870E boards if there are basically no meaningful difference between those and the cheaper X870?
This looks very under equipped for a master tier board in comparison to previous gens. Looks like a 300 usd board at most...sure hopes its not 500 usd or its a total ripoff imo
lovely preview. many thanks. kindly stop bitching about cables (especially their colors) or the box. you see the box once and toss it. it's the quality of the meat that counts. btw, 5g is pathetic. master should have 10g.
Looks nice, it's good to see budget boards again. The last generations prices completely spun out of control. I see this hitting likely in the $300 range.
The money this will cost and it can't even do 7.1 audio. The on-board wifi will be outdated in no time, barely any PCIE expandability. Where have the truly feature rich motherboards gone!?. Too much focus on way over the top VRM and just what the current tech is anyway...
Tah for that figure 8 plug mention. I managed to run, I think it was a Rampage IV Black Edition, for several years with the 24 pin installed the wrong way round! 😇😇😇🤪🤪🤪 I'm your man for doing silly things like that and getting away with it - until I don't, of course. I only discovered the 24 pin was backwards when I transferred the system to another case.
Disappointing compare with other boards similar level motherboards from MSI , Asrock and Asus . Gigabyte went cheap on innovation ,design and features especially back ports . Big shame.

Please test this board i will not purchase my next mobo till all the connectors are on the back like this mobo B650E AORUS STEALTH ICE
I got a x670e aorus master and loving it, in the future I probably buy gigabyte aorus x870e xtreme if they exist
What about z890?
I am considering the white versions of Gigabyte X870(E) motherboards. Likely X870E Aorus Pro Ice.
Oooh! Shiny! I haven't used Gigabyte since X79. Reviews depending, this might be the one for me too.
That board bows a lot just from picking it up
This motherboard is a slight downgrade of the X670E version.
I think my b650 board had a more premium unboxing experience than that.
Is saw it on Amazon for $600+
lovely preview. many thanks. kindly stop bitching about cables (especially their colors) or the box. you see the box once and toss it. it's the quality of the meat that counts. btw, 5g is pathetic. master should have 10g.
Looks nice, it's good to see budget boards again. The last generations prices completely spun out of control. I see this hitting likely in the $300 range.
omE it's like 700€ lmao
just 2 head fans connectors on the cpu area ,not cool ,and no back plate for protect the board, also not cool 😑
The money this will cost and it can't even do 7.1 audio. The on-board wifi will be outdated in no time, barely any PCIE expandability. Where have the truly feature rich motherboards gone!?. Too much focus on way over the top VRM and just what the current tech is anyway...
how is their shitty app center?
If it can do 1.7vdd then take my money
New release board good with 9900x or 9950x, gonna be sold out. 🤣
957 Hirthe Manors
Well , i could buy gigabyte but not this one , Waiting for Aorus Elite Wifi 7 Version
Big shame.
new board ah yes perhaps in 2026 when its on deal for 100$ off ill take it with a then considerd OLD gen 9800X3D who what? never dropped from msrp gasp.
Lol everyone wants budget when cash is inflated I'm good give us 500$ boards that used to be 300$ times have changed get with it stop asking for cheap before the high-end is gimped like this
Looks cheap for a X870E board.
I caved and got a Aorus B650E Elite AX ICE and a 7800x3d a few weeks ago. Not sure I really regret it though. 9000 was kinda meh and the difference in board for what I do....yea. That internal screen ports on mine too btw :D £200 board.
I'm sorry.
1:23... okay, princess.
1:48... top-right... sure.
3:23... 2.5" hard drives... or even mechanicals... hard drives are mechanical
3:43... the vast majority of mid-ATX cases have the power supply shroud right against the bottom edge. You... can't point those downwards.
4:27.... "another ARGB header, so that's two that you're getting." Gigabyte says you get 4: "4 x addressable RGB Gen2 LED strip headers / 1 x RGB LED strip header." I only see three, two at the top and one at the bottom. Either way, not two headers.
4:32... "4-pin ARGB." That's not ARGB. ARGB is 3 pin. That's RGB.
8:35 "The 10G" *points at 5Gbe port.*
1:00 The fan is there for the Hardware Unboxed clickbait "THE BOARD FAILED THE TESTS REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" nonsense.
Yeah, it failed with zero airflow in an artificial environment which will never happen in real life.
