Yep. Heat from a handheld blow torch, and/or spritzing acetone with a mist sprayer bottle. Both reduce the surface tension momentarily, allowing trapped air bubbles to be released.
Hi, if you spread a thin layer of the same resin with a squeegee, swipe both ways you'll fill those pinholes, then light sanding and continue with coatings. Great video, thanks.
@@Keegan_Co You can also reduce the viscosity of the resin temporarily by adding 5 to 20% ( max ) Denatured Alcohol ( not IPA ) to it. This will make it easier for it to level and fill holes.
Probably saved a lot more than that if I knew what I was doing haha sadly my 2nd fender has been a huge failure but I've learned a lot so when I do the hood here pretty soon I think I'll have it down
One thing i notice you done a awsome job but i think the colour foll needs to layed with the carbon fibres you need bits to overlap or it just looks like its placed on top but thats me keep it up bro 😊
What all are you needing? Chopped carbon I got from ebay I think? 😅 Blue foil flakes on Amazon Resin also from Amazon Feel free and reach out on Instagram and I can send you links Keegan_Co_
Hey thanks so much I appreciate that! Always love to see another Keegan 😂 Heads up make sure you let the resin get tacky before putting on the chopped carbon and also make sure you are mixing equal parts resin/hardner My 2nd fender completely failed and had to do something completely different with it 😅
Bro, u need vacuum bags and release sheets. It'll save you so much time and headache, but mainly it'll save your sanity. You might still have a few pinholes. Fill them in using a syringe and needle.
Better still, pick up a cheap paint gun; I've found even the cheapest, crappiest Chinese gun beats rattle cans hands down, much more controllable and you get better flow and a decent fan spray pattern. (I tried re-spraying the hood on my Mom's car with cans and it took a day and about 10 cans in total, and still looked like crap. Stripped the whole lot down, got a cheap gun and did it within a few hours, including prep, with a much better result, I think the paint worked out costing less, too.)
Doesnt it end up slightly too big if you just cover the original one that fits? 😂😂 Windscreen repair kit for pin holes comes with little pressure syringe thing to squeeze in epoxy maybe??
It will be slightly bigger yes but it's not noticeable when everything is bolted together It's much better with a vacuum system it makes it much flatter and easier to sand
Are you talking about clear coat or the resin? The resin I definitely agree I should've used something else It wasn't horrible but I had a ton of issues with it on the 2nd fender I'm actually doing the same look on my Supra spoiler with a different resin and it's given me much better results and will be getting legit clear coat
@dylankennedy8474 if I get a notification I'll respond haha if not you can always reach out through Instagram 😁 Chopped carbon and blue flakes were ordered through Amazon actually Pretty affordable and I think I did 1 or 2lbs which is more than enough to do both Fenders and a gr supra spoiler 😂
@dylankennedy8474 yeah its pretty decent stuff actually Something I don't think I mentioned in the video is give the resin about 5 mins to tack up before placing the carbon I learned the hard way 😅
Get some good quality resin, chopped carbon and a ton of sand paper 😅 It's not too difficult but very time consuming and takes a bit to learn how to do it properly I'm still learning myself but have learned a lot from just this process
I did the same but my the colour of my flakes turn away… is that the quality of the flakes are or what am I doing wrong? Did you buy the flakes from Amazon too?
I did yeah some of the flakes did that but for the most it stayed blue My only problem I had is with the resin and im having to redo one entire fender 😭
@kaidrube725 basically yeah mine was a reaction issue and it didn't cure properly so I'm sanding back all the bad stuff and trying again with another layer or 2 of new resin The sanding part is just horrible because it's like sanding glue
@timdahlberg468 originally this video didn't do well at all so I never finished the 2nd part that and one of the Fenders completely failed due to a resin issue... That being said I did do a forged carbon look on my GR supra spoiler after learning from the mistakes and will have a video coming out on it soon.. Proper clear coat, paint etc. Still not perfect but better than the results from this video 😅 sorry I'm a small part time "youtuber" doing this for fun when I can and sometimes I don't get to finish things 100% do to me just testing and trying new things
Its funny to me people spare no expense with some things but cheap on others. 2k clear looks a million times better and is just barely more expensive. Why would not not buy it?
@dannybailes3948 because all that was available at the time was 1k clear and it's my first time trying all this.. Also this whole total thing only cost around $100 I'm being cheap just to learn Once I know the process then I'll dump more money Into it to do it properly
So I hope this came out well 😂 I tried though!
Love this look especially with the blue flakes in it!! Can’t wait to see it on the skyline!!
If you compound the fender with some Maguires compound it should give it more shine
Did you use a fiber glass roller? When you add the chop and roll it out it make for a lot less sanding, way more level and might save you some time.
I did on my first fender and the 2nd I used peel play
Sadly the 2nd one is requiring way more sanding because I didn't do the fender roller
Heat immediately after laying it to release the air to make the final sand and polish easy
Yep. Heat from a handheld blow torch, and/or spritzing acetone with a mist sprayer bottle. Both reduce the surface tension momentarily, allowing trapped air bubbles to be released.

Oooh thanks for the advice I appreciate that! I'm working on a spoiler for my supra at the moment so thats definitely useful information! 🙏
@@Keegan_Co You can also reduce the viscosity of the resin temporarily by adding 5 to 20% ( max ) Denatured Alcohol ( not IPA ) to it. This will make it easier for it to level and fill holes.

😂 I just saved one hundred and fifty buckkkkkks
Where you get your flakes an how much did you use ?
Much love and respect to you and your channel Keegan.
Like the touch with the blue. White, black forged fenders and some small random bits of blue would make for a sick color scheme on the skyline.
Thats hopefully the plan as long as it all turns out well if not then we'll switch it up 😅
Thanks though I appreciate it!
Use a long block for sanding gets it pretty flat
One thing i notice you done a awsome job but i think the colour foll needs to layed with the carbon fibres you need bits to overlap or it just looks like its placed on top but thats me keep it up bro 😊

Yeah I've learned that 😭 I just don't have the money to spend on it yet but I will get everything for it at some point
2k clear....it will make a hge difference in depth and gloss. They sell it in spray cans. Wear a mask when you do it.
I've been trying to find 2k clear and haven't had any luck 😭 im using 1k at the moment to see if it'll be good enough

i like the blue foil, got a link for it?
Look up blue foil flakes on Amazon thats what I used haha it's not perfect but it works!
did you found it? I'm not sure what material are them made
I love what you have done but this isn’t forged carbon fibre it’s called skinning carbon fibre

@@lengonzales9136 Amazon just type in blue foil flakes

How many pounds of carbon fiber bits did it take for one fender?
@progressiongarage7332 I ordered 1lb and had more than enough left over to do a Streethunter supra spoiler
@@Keegan_Co thanks for info and fast reply!

Type in blue foil flakes or colored foil flakes
Chopped carbon 1lb bag
2 part epoxy resin
how did you create those flakes of that color? did you already get them in that size and color, or did you cut and color them yourself? thanks
