I have a Talon R that I bought in September. Three weeks ago, I was ready to get rid of it in favor of another Polaris (Ive had four). I decided to "roll the dice" with a shock and spring package from shock therapy, hoping I was not throwing good money after bad.
I picked it up a week ago from Shock Therapy but I was headed back to my home in Northern Nevada. I didn;t have a chance to give a test until yesterday...
I am once again happy with the ride. We do a lot of trail/dirt roads on ghost town trips and the slower speed stuff on the R was flat awful. My initial ride yesterday was positive. I'm going to keep it.
    Good Job Shock Therapy.

I sold my 2020 turbo s. Just got the KRX so much happier. I dont race so that isnt a factor. Comfort, room, looks, shifting into gear way smoother, throttle response for rock crawler way better, passenger seat adjustable, bead locks. I love this thing. Which I would have done this fromt he start would have saved 10k. If I want more power they have a turbo that brings it to 174 hp which is more the the rzr.

The gen 2 YXZ1000R SS SE is probably the best out of the box unit you can buy. For instance, it's the only car built with the radiator in back where it belongs, and the dual spring shock package is GTG for most trail use. Don't want your rubber band breaking contantly? Your looking aat Honda or Yamaha right now, and Yamaha is set to announce a new car this summer. If you were making a living selling UTV parts & service, it may be hard to recommend the car that needs the least work... ;) Thanks for having the spine to offer an opinion...most won't even do that, for fear of alienating the fanboys...If you want to spend $25K+ on a new car, plus another $10K in parts to keep it from falling apart, you need a Canam....My '20 YXZ is on day 3 at Texplex, and has seen hard use in the desert and dunes. Pipe, tune, winch, harnesses, and a extra set of wheels/tires. All she does is rip and beg for more :)

I live 5 minutes from the oregon dunes. Never had a sxs before and decided to get a yxz because I was going to be dunning mostly. I was also not impressed with belt drives. Fast forward 10 months, love my yxz but my initial ideas were incorrect. On the weekends my friends go to the woods I sit it out because my tall geared yxz doesn't like tight, slow trail riding. On the dunes the polaris machines are everywhere I am and if not in front of me they are right behind me. Belts... seen one belt fail on a friends rzr in 10 months. He said his belt was bad and didn't expect it would last the weekend. Inside of 20 minutes he had the new one installed. My yxz suspension is too stiff, it does soak up big hits. Whoops it bucks and porpoises. Ive tried adjusting and it just needs progressive springs. Im not spending more money on it. Im buying a 2021 turbo S, bone stock the turbo s spanks my yxz. The suspension is better for my needs. I will be able to trail ride. I wasted a bunch of money being ignorant about my needs.

My next one will be based on whats available with turf mode. I had to buy a second set of non aggressive tires for my wolverine x2 xtr so we could use it around our property. That locked rear axle is fine for a trail toy but I really am not a fan overall in the grass. I don't like the tire scrubbing for every tight turn (you have to cut pretty wide to prevent it). My want list is a selectable front and rear locker. Also i really dislike the CVT. Lots of people said the wolverine was quite but I don't get that. Quite is when I run one of my hondas down the trail in a higher gear where it can lug around and sip gas. I hate having to run mid throttle just to back up or get going. Everything you want to do its always rev'd up. I knew it would be like that coming into the purchase but thought maybe I could live with it. Time will tell.

Make a video explaining what makes geometry terrible ie , talon & yxz . And what makes geometry great . Awsome video, most informative hands down, was close to pulling the trigger on a x3 rs rr , but sounds like it's a good idea to wait for the speed or just see what canams new transmission is going to do. Thanks !

Recommendations for an older 4 seat family vehicle that works for all terrain moderately well (rock crawling-Rubicon Trail, woods, Baja-just touring, dunes-ability to get to the tops). What mods to look for in a ride selling under$15k?

Wow that was great info - but disappointing since I was going to by a yxz 2019 SESS as my first UTV - coming from a WR450F. I still plan to buy it but will have to seriously reconsider CANAM. Prefer the standard shifting of the YXZ. With a spare tire and trail riding on the east coast (no whoops) I think it will be fine for me. Now I need to figure out which CANAM might suit my riding which is Hatfield McCoy and Michigan sandy trails/ I see the comment from Ty below. I am sticking with my gut and bleeding blue most likely

So what did you get? I have a 2016 yxz1000r only ever needed tougher skid plated for rocks. We baja run it rock crawl it. Take it to dunes. Go to the snow and mountains. No major issues. Granted ive (Blown quite a few tires and bent stock tie rod)

stgraves260 a majority of the Polaris cars that caught on fire came from a lot of people with gas cans in the bed of the car over the motor. Yes, they did have some issues with some stuff and they corrected the problems. As far as the build quality of the car, the Polaris is put together more soundly than the can am

I’ll start paying more attention to that. It’s just the fires seam to be happening under the dash and under the seat from what I can tell. Thank you.

in our small town in the northwoods of Wisconsin the city now allows UTV and ATV owners to ride on city streets, as long as they are a speed limit of 35 or less. I wonder if driving a UTV would be more economical on gas and insurance if I just do errands on one of those? maybe great for getting thru the snow up here to?

I used to live in Ca. and duned Glamis all the time but Ca. sucks so bad I had to move to America, I now live in the Rockies in Co. so my riding is trails and rocks not sand. I would like to do some stuff to my KRX and hopefully you guys get into building products for that car.

This was a very insightful video. I have watched the follow up regarding the benefits of and what makes the KRX suspension better than most out of the box (geometry). I am shopping for my first SxS, a significant purchase, and I am torn between Polaris, Can-Am and the Kawasaki. Each model I am drawn to is very attractive for certain features.
I like the low profile, power and sound from the X3. I like the accessories of the Polaris and their General model. I like the look of the KRX and your point that it has a very good suspension without need for much work. I like the plug and play capability for lighting, options that Polaris and Can-Am have... Kawasaki not so much. I like a roomier seat, a more reclined seating position and comfort in a unit that is fun as well as one that I will not have to mod out in order to make it reliable.
In my area, trails, wooded areas, hunting etc are part of recreation life as well as a small amount of utility. I'm also interested in something that I can put an complete enclosure on for Fall temps... would prefer that I could buy it from factory that way.
Thanks for the great information, I am nowhere close to deciding what to buy however. ;)
