Shogun: Lord Toranaga Dances The Hornpipe Sailor Dance With Anjin-San, Requests Friar - Longer Scene

- Shogun: After watching Anjin-San dance his ‘Blackthorne's Shanty’ Song and Dance (Words and Music By Eric Bercovici), Lord Yoshi Toranaga (Toshiro Mifune) decides that he will dance Anjin-San’s (Richard Chamberlain) dance with him. As The Lady Toda Buntaro Mariko (Yoko Shimada), The Lady Kiri-Sama, Lako-San, Sono-San, Asa-San, and Samurai Warriors laugh and clap as Anjin-San and Lord Toranaga dance The ‘Fare Thee Well’ Sailors’ Dance together! Everyone is entertained, and Lord Toranaga gifts a gold overshirt to Anjin-San and says that perhaps one day, Lord Toranaga will teach Anjin-San a Japanese Dance. Anjin-San then asks if Friar Domingo could be released from Osaka Castle Prison, but he died when his name was called out.

Many people were involved in the making of this classic masterpiece. There was an A-List Cast, an A-List Director, an A-List Musical Score from Maurice Jarre, and A-List production quality with amazing sets and intricate costumes, detailed for that time era. Narration by the famous and powerful voice of Orson Welles.

Lady Mariko has such a loving and gentle look on her face while she was watching them dancing. It’s easy to be convinced in this version that they really fell in love with each other.
Which is very unlike the 2024 remake where there is zero chemistry due to a bad script and a lot of bland 'acting''.
I always imaginated how this scene would be like. I remember that in the book Blackthorne spoiled the moment by insisting in asking Toranaga about his ship, if I'm not mistaken.

Many great people need the friendship of others who can make them laugh, Lord Toranago is no exception. The dire seriousness of his life and weight of his responsibilities would overcome most, yet Blackthorn was able to reach the man and kindle a bond between them

I agree completely.
The 2024 version really lost out not including the close friendship between Toranaga and Blackthorn. The woke ideology just has so much disregard for history and friendships. To make a man weak just because he is a man is wrong. This was a very important part of the story.
