  • Depression affects an estimated 300 million people worldwide and research now shows that the mood disorder can strike men and women in dramatically different ways. During this seminar, Harvard Medical School mental health experts will discuss how to identify the signs and symptoms of depression, who is at greater risk for depression and how effective treatment can differ for men and women.

I would love to share something with you that can help you find true hope and comfort in these hard times. This is my best friend's story. God bless you!
      Precious Memories-By Sonya Lakey
      Family Story
Little did our family of six know that Friday evening, September 24th, 2021, would be the last night our family would be complete. We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our 16-year-old son, Ethan, played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for Ethan for a church mountain hike he was going on the following day.
My mother (who was visiting from out of state) and I woke early with Ethan on Saturday morning. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he'd see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my "new driver" heading out on his own that morning. As Ethan pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mother and said, "It's just so hard letting go." Little did I know how much "letting go" I was really doing. That was the last time I saw Ethan. He did not make it home that evening.
That afternoon, a friend tried to contact my husband, leaving an urgent message to call him back. He tried several times to return the call to no avail. As we were preparing supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan filled my heart. I quietly blinked back tears. I glanced out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pull up to the house, but no one arrived. However, within a few minutes, a patrol car DID pull into the driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst. My husband and I went out to meet the officer, who confirmed our fears. Hesitantly, he told us our son had fallen off of
a bluff and had succumbed to his injuries. Our hearts were crushed; they still are.
Yet, in all of our brokenness, deep, continual grief and loneliness, our family has such a blessed Hope and assurance that we will see our dear son and brother again. You see, when Ethan was a young boy, he was saved; he put his faith in Jesus alone to forgive his sins and to take him to Heaven when he died. He realized some very important truths from the Bible that he would want to share with you.
      His Story
Everyone is a sinner. Sin is any violation of God’s Law. God is holy, just and righteous, and He cannot allow sin in His presence. Ethan realized that he - like all of us - had sinned; and his sin separated Him from God.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ” (Romans 3:23)
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12)
He understood that, because of his sin, he deserved to spend eternity in Hell.
“For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23a) [Wages: price]
“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)
Ethan believed that Jesus, God’s Son, paid the price for all sin when He died on the cross - because His sinless sacrifice was the only thing that could satisfy the just demands of a righteous, holy God. Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb, but He arose the third day, triumphant over sin, death, and Hell. Jesus is alive today!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Ethan was sorry for his sin, repented (turned), and received by faith the free gift that God offered to him.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
“...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b)
Because of this great salvation, Ethan lived his life serving Jesus. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. He is alive in Heaven with Jesus today; and because of this great HOPE in Christ, we know we will see him again soon - not because he was a great kid, but because of his faith in the great Saviour!
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)
      Your Story
What about you? What if you had fallen to your death that day - What if you were to die today? Where will you spend eternity - Heaven or the Lake of Fire? There will not be any parties in the Lake of Fire. It is a place of eternal torment for those who reject God's Son.
The Word of God is very clear that there is only One Way to Heaven.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
We did not know that Ethan would step into eternity that day; however, because he put his faith in Jesus alone for his salvation, Ethan was ready to go. Some day - perhaps today - you will take your last breath here on earth, and you will step into eternity. Where you spend eternity is determined by what you do with Jesus Christ. Will you accept Him or reject Him? You are not promised another day or another breath. Eternity begins soon - Are you ready?
“...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” (Acts 16:31b)
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
“(...behold, now is the day of salvation.)” (2 Corinthians 6:2c)

The pain, the loss, the uncertainty, and the hurt of depression can be agonizing. I know. LIFE is about LIVING. Depression involves a loss or reduction of DESIRE. Desire consists of intention and concern, thereby including interest as well. GREAT. Experience MORE. BALANCE and completeness go hand in hand, as imbalance and loss go together. The INTEGRATED EXTENSIVESS of thought (and description) is improved in the truly superior mind. Thoughtful, emotional, AND physical health, growth, development, and maturity matter. Indeed, thought, emotion, AND feeling are interactive. Warm yourself from within. IMPORTANTLY, depression is NOT properly, accurately, AND FULLY defined, understood, and categorized as a "brain disorder". Improve your ability to think. Improve the DESIREability of your EXPERIENCE (and this includes thought) IN GENERAL. So, think positively. Keep your thoughts in the PRESENT. Improve upon your self awareness. Avoid thoughts/thinking that is/are relatively shifting and variable. The clear goal is to be grounded, resilient, aware, integrated, and balanced. Truth, reality, AND nature/natural experience go hand in hand. Fill yourself with love. In fact, love incarnates in different forms (and to various degrees). Finally, SURVIVAL, strength, balance, and wellness are of critical importance in this discussion. The opposite of what is depression can be said to involve serenity. Be yourself. Patience AND resolve. Struggle to victory. Peace through strength. Balance and completeness in LIFE. ❤️🙂👍

Please understand that Jesus loves you more than you can possibly know. True peace can only come from knowing Him. The most important decision you will ever make is where you will spend eternity. The Bible says that you can know that you have eternal life in heaven, but If you are putting your trust in anything other than the finished work of Jesus on the cross to get you to heaven, you do not understand God's way. Please let me share with you how you can know you have a home in heaven.
The Bible says that we are all sinners. When God created Adam and Eve, He made them perfect without sin, but they chose to disobey God and became sinful in nature. This sin nature was passed down to all humanity.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Your sin separates you from God.
      Romans 3:23 For all have sinned (yes, you too) and come short of the glory of God;
A holy, righteous God cannot allow sin into heaven. Sin must be paid for and God's price for sin is death, but not just a physical death, but a spiritual death which means separation from God forever in hell.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
In the Old Testament when man sinned, God required the sacrifice of a perfectly spotless lamb as a substitute in the place of the sinner. The blood of that lamb was only a temporary payment for their sin and so this had to be done often. Jesus Christ, God's Son took on flesh, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered Himself as that perfect, spotless Lamb and shed His blood as payment for the sins of the whole world.
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Jesus loved you so much He WILLINGLY came and allowed wicked men to spit on Him, mock Him and scourge Him until He was unrecognizable. They stripped him naked, thrust a crown of thorns on His head and nailed His hands and feet to a cross. He hung in agony for hours bleeding, thirsting, struggling for every breath. He died innocently in your place so that you could be saved from going to hell. It was His blood that satisfied the just demands of a holy God. God will not accept anything else.
There is no greater love than that!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever (that means you) believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The good news is that Jesus didn't stay dead in the grave. He came back to life 3 days later just like He promised and He still lives today!
Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
      6. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Friend, Jesus did all this because He wants to give you the FREE gift of eternal life in heaven with Him!
You cannot do anything to earn your own way into heaven. You can't work for it, be baptized for it, go to church for it or try to be good enough for it. It is a FREE gift that God is offering to you if you will simply receive it by faith.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
      9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
God said there is only one way to get to heaven, but it is not hard. You must admit you are a sinner headed for hell. You must believe that Jesus died and paid for your sin with His own blood on the cross, was buried and 3 days later rose from the dead. Then you must repent of your sins and call on God for mercy to save you from hell and give you eternal life in heaven with Him.
Romans 10:9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
      13. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
None of us deserve God's mercy and grace, but let me warn you friend, that if you reject His FREE gift, you are already condemned and when you die, you will suffer the torment of burning in hell for eternity in a lake of fire where you will be forever separated from God and all that is loving and good.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Please don't wait! Don't take the risk of putting it off until another day, repent, turn to Christ NOW wherever you are at because you aren't guaranteed to live another day on this Earth. Believe God's Word, ask Him to save you and He will! I would love to meet you in heaven someday. Get your name written down in the Lambs Book of Life. God bless you!

This video has been very useful to me providing information from valid sources as in research papers, statistics and the psychologists' and the psychiatrists' experience coming from practice
    I have a request
I'm a 19 year old and have been suffering from this since I was a 15 year old,I have seen the different frequencies and intensities and levels at which it grows year by year through all these years
I wish to exactly know how does it work, looking from beyond it ,u being outside the circle, out of depression, might well address it.one more thing that constantly pokes is that I always feel too older,as in I at 15 would feel I'm grown enough to not need to be guided from outside and to no more be worthy of some external care from an elder,so I *must* be able to feel good and not be messed up and what I feel has surely got something wrong, that it is not the way I should feel, like who feels like this,I'm an exceptional case to feel all these wrong or incorrect feelings.then when now I look at a 15 year old I feel,oh,this child is yet immature and I must help being an elder to that child ,again now at 19 ,I feel I'm too big and that now I'm a full grown up.i fear regretting later again at age 25 that I was yet worthy of love care and affection being just a 19 year old

Thankyou first of all to consider my concern, but depression never stays the same, it shifts and changes , so the time when I had written this it was my condition then, and now I have had to read it twice to understand what I had to ask then. Now the concerns are different , not the same, at present the problems seems to be that depression makes you a different person with a completely different level of understanding and perspective, such that whenever you talk to people, you are in most cases likely to be misunderstood, not understood and thought to be mad, but it is not madness, it comes from a different depth of experience

I think I have had a bout of depression for a few years due to relationship troubles. It's a stressful state to be in, it feels like my brain wants me to think that things I do doesn't make a difference and maybe things are too hard and I can't do it. But now I feel much better I can say it's a trick of the brain, some say the devil. To function and grow we should accept challenges and never wish for a life that is easy and stress free. That's a good life. We should walk a worior's path and be happy with our lot with whatever little that we were given. Have you ever seen people that have everthing that you wanted but is always grumpy and then there are people that have a had a hard life but they never complained? Who looks like a better example of character?
If you feel really sad you can try praying 🙏. But if you still feel sad try helping someone. We would feel prouder of ourselves for our efforts to be a good example and helping others.
One final point, don't do nor believe things that forstall our efforts. Worries, catastrophic thoughts, and reasons why things won't work out, ultimately take away action. Action breeds motivation not the other way around. We just get started and the world will be on your side 🙂. Cheering you on. Be loving and be brave my friend.

It's crazy how much my ex-girlfriend seems to match many qualifiers. Ticked many many boxes, but most especially the loss sort of feeling like I couldn't provide everything or be perfect "enough", so I was an unsuitable partner. Under eating, no friends or people to bounce off of, talking bad about herself, etc.. I wish I had understood more before. Since then, my stint of depression has had this hold on me, and I find myself identifying with mostly the girl's type of symptoms. But it's amazing how spot on many of these findings are. My problem with psychiatry is that there is no other field of medicine where patients are treated so badly and fobbed off. No other doctor would use that elephant analogy and say “well we really haven’t a clue, if we look at heart disease this way its kind of like this, look it another way it’s kind of that. No. There are definite successful treatments with drugs with very high success rates. Even cancer now has definite successful treatment which succeeds almost all of the time.
Mentally ill patients are the only ones treated badly like @take this drug, it will not only not improve you, it will make you worse for 6 weeks, then it MIGHT work. If it doesn’t, we will increase the dose of that drug that isn’t working. Then we will just swap over to another SSRI that may or may not work. No other patients would put up with that.

CBT is the most useless thing I’ve had the misfortune to experience. And no, it’s not just “a bad therapist” I don’t want to hear your story of being cured. I’ve been through it 5 times and at best it didn’t help at worst it made me worse.
Ok, I don’t need to be told it’s bad for me to ruminate in suicidal thoughts. I don’t need to be told “when you get anxious, calm down”!? That’s literally what it is. It’s like going to the doctor with a broken leg and them saying “well don’t break your leg then, walking without a crutch will make it worse, you should consider a cast” and when you ask for the crutch and cast you get “you need to put the work in”.
I know, for example, it would benefit me to go on a long walk. The reason why I don’t do it is because I’m depressed. I know it would benefit me to eat healthier but I don’t do it, because I’m depressed, I know better hygiene and everything else is better. Listen if it was that straightforward I’d be fine. CLEARLY IM NOT STUPID?

Depression involves a loss or reduction of desire. Desire consists of intention and concern, thereby including interest as well.

All psychotropics cause gray matter brain shrinkage. (Liquid lobotomy) Pills are addictive, toxic and they mostly create more problems, the drugs stop self regulation. You become reliant on these chemicals and this is the drug companies profit on to create life long maintance.
Labeling, the chemical imbalances are caused by medicine.
No milk, steroids, drugs, alcohol, no flours, sugars, and no chemicals!
Organic raw greens, Probiotics and pre-biopics, exercise and healthy water!
Social outings, fresh air and getting outside, as well as staying active in the community. Uplifting self talk, meditation, and stay away from all things addictive.
All psychotropics and most other prescription drugs are harmful.
Their are some meds that are helpful that must be taken to cure a disease or infection like bacteria and yeast infection, gonorrhea, etc.
Be around positive people, loving people, and caring people that put your interests at heart.
If you are in a toxic relationship group therapy is a must!
Depression sometimes is a positive breakthrough!
Withdrawals cause most all of these symptoms.
Unresolved past traumas? Talk Therapy and group talk therapy without a label.
Call the hot lines if you feel depressed and suicidal. You can get the contact!
      Check your habits...
Don’t be fooled, it’s not rampantly inherited. Basically, it’s only .04-.06% of the whole population.
The problem is stigma, labeling and lack of true care!
They use this stigma to not only take advantage of vulnerable states of mind to make profit and maintain but to target up to six generations!
If you want to take legal drugs see a doctor they will be more than happy to have another addict to maintain for life.
Get a certification in Integrative Nutritional Health and wellness!
A feel good pill is the road to dependency. It’s a lie!
Self regulation takes patience and self nurturing care!
You must protect yourself and believe in yourself for a cure over trusting Doctors and such that were educated to prescribe and maintain a patient not treat an individual and the family dynamics on proper self care and nutrition. Kundalini yoga.
Be well, you can do this! You can heal and learn to truly love and nurture yourself as well as forgive others as well as yourself.
      Love is the answer!

Please, I would love to share something with you that can help you find true hope and comfort in these hard times.

It 100% is poorly understood, i dont think any professional in the field of psychology would confidently say depression (or even the brain for that matter) is 'understood', we know some things about it, but most of it is still unknown, its all about working with what we've got and trying to improve people's lives the best we can, depression is MUCH more complex than a lot of people think especially when trying to develop treatment or a deeper understand of the underlying causes or mechanisms behind it

  • @hanskraut2018

Terrible. As if medication is a solved thing. I had only 1 med tryal and the psychiatrist seemed to not relly believe in med and only to know 1. Talking about how to do "a flow activity" like reading football results. Are you serious? What do you think apathy is? Its feeling no pleasure and drive and pain is more strong because of the absence of those plesurable feelings (aka chemicals) The guy talking how he loves work or books somethimes. Duh dudue thats exactly what is missing. Unbeliavable like clueless are there any quality controll in research and where research money goes???????? Who controlls that? The people with the best grades controll themselfes? No clue but can memorize test questions?
What about principals of the scientific method or machine lerning to recognice clusters of people and what medication and what dose might work? Using parameters as hypothesis like: liverenzyme, spesific depression related dna differences, rating scale where the depressed person writes stuff and the machine lerning algorythm is comparing it to a huge data base and tryes to guess let it try itself dont interfere too much with your "great ideas" they might be hindering it more than help.
Humans should be seen as very complex neuronal networks with different systems competing some accesable by will others not. Ther might even be some that are evolitionary benefitial or selected for not for the good of the individual but the species as a hole but detrimental or even causing depression in the individual. So dont only think about disease from a virus or poisons more like glichtches or well ment algorythms that are outdated or not conforming to the modern context. Etc.
Just do something for jesus christ how long has it been and every 10 years i hear the same stuff as if you guys play cards and act like big guys infront the cameras to not lose ur funding. Its embarassing and the BIAS towards therapy when u admit they are hard to test blind and with controll group is not only apparent its everywher. Get those people that cant controll there gut instincts out of there. Or lern more history of how people selfishly plug themself into positions and block a fields progress for personal gaine. Always think whats most benefitial to a person in power to do. And dont be deluded to think there are not many that might be "convinced" conveniently to be on the right track because otherwise it would mean everythiing they are is for nothing or they "lose the progress". Reward disproving of commonly held believes (do mandatory polling or high ranking/much cited researchers to see what areas are not looked in enought and what areas are saturated and plan accordingly the ditribution of funds based on results and a meta plan.

The problem you reveal is women at forty worry about their attractiveness. Women often make themselves attractive to men by decieiveing men with makeup, garments, coursets, surgery, shoes and presenting their mock, loveing interest by practicing smiling before a mirror or other deception. Men are greatly disappointed when they are condemned for bring suckered this way. The woman's fear of rejection is thus blamed on their victim. I heard a feminist condemn men for being gullible.

      Romans 3:23 For all have sinned (yes, you too) and come short of the glory of God;
