These videos on how you approach Redfish are fantastic. Glad I came across these! Spend most of my time surf fishing but redfish on fly in the Outer Banks sounds like a fun challenge...

That’s something I really want to do..Redfish on a fly! I’ve tied up a few small fly boxes of the right flies, now to get down there, and cast them in the right place. Thanks a lot Alvin! 👍👍🎣✌️

Spoon Flies are a go to for me….takes a while to master tying them but I have found they another version of Crack
    for catching Reds…😎

I tied some of your “crab”😉 flies a while back. Heading down to Galveston this weekend. Where and how do you usually fish these?

Thanks for the info. I've never fly fished salt water. Fly fishing for them would be awesome. I am a beginner with a fly rod, and tying flies. I do however fly fish for white bass around Austin during the spring spawn. I am self taught. I find it challenging to roll cast for whites in a small creek filled with broken tree limbs and overhead trees. I love it. I've posted a few of my own fly fishing videos. If you don't already; It'd be awesome to see you out there one day!
My fly fishing bucket list would be to catch reds, and trout on a fly in Texas. Then catch tarpon and bone fish, in Florida. And last, to catch salmon in Alaska and Canada. I'm dreaming... but maybe one day!
I'm currently fishing for bull reds in Corpus Christi and Port A on the jetties with conventional rod and reel gear. I love it but it's getting old, and I'm getting old. The fly rod is new and exciting.
In 2020, I purchased a Cabelas fly tying kit. I've tied a few smaller #4 Aberdeen hook style clousers for white bass fishing. (but I've never caught any fish with them). Currently, I'm using store bought clousers.
Question: what size and type of hook do you use to tie these closer flies you showed? I imagine the hooks have to be strong. I purchased and still have some #2 size Cabelas clousers in various colors. is a #2 clouser with lead eyes too big?
Thanks for you awesome videos. keep on keeping on! Tight lines!

Hey Alvin! Thank you again for the video man :)
Have you seen the Everglades Minnow?
I’ve had good luck with that one and it’s easy to tie.
I’m gonna try your favourites man! Can’t wait!

Alvin do you have a video that talks about what rod/reel fly line and leader you use for the coast?

Norman's crab is an even simpler pattern. It's just bead chain eyes, a rabbit strip, and some silli legs. Dr Aaron Adams has a how to on Vimeo....

Will these also work well in the salt flats of the Mosquito Lagoon in fl?

They should work anywhere you are chasing them in shallow water.

Do you just tie one on and cast or are there certain times of the day that you would select a specific one?

    • @AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing
      @AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Lots of different factors come in to the decision. Mostly different flies for different times of year, but water conditions play a big part as well.
