Hey Alvin ! I'm not really an idiot but I used to play one on TV. Should my fly reel click when I pull line out or reel it back in? I realize the drag should work pulling line out, but I have some reels that click reeling line in.

Isn't the head supposed to "push" water? With his head up his rear how will that work?

Excellent advice. As a trout guy with 3-5wt rods, those heavy streamers and poppers I’m finding hard to turn over. Will step up to something more like a 7-8. Thanks for the guidance

Fly cast is the best thing ever , I honestly like it just as much as catching fish. Sometimes I wouldn't mind not catching fish at all because I can just practice new techniques .

What if I’m sitting down in a kayak and I have to cast from that position will the length of the rod matter, I went to a flyfishing event at a lake. I found out that it was pretty challenging to cast sitting down but also my first time fly fishing only had a 3wt and and 11wt or 13wt Could you recommend a rod I’m thinking of a 5wt or 6wt I don’t know if length would make a difference

What size hook were you using for the fly? I know some folks use size six for Guadalupe bass

When u make your own leader for smallmouth bass do u put a tippet ring on the end and then tippet or tie directly onto the fly. Also can u just add a swivel to put on your fly for fast fly changes?

I keep a spin rod in the boat at all times.. I call it “cleanup crew”. Never know when the wind will pick up and make it impossible. Thing has saved some trips for me that’s for sure

Is tying three different sizes of leader the same as having a tapered leader? I'm new to fly fishing and would love to learn more.

I love this, but the problem is The rubber ring that keeps the grinds out emit microplastics when heated. The whole reason for getting a French press is the mesh filter and the ring that surrounds it is metal, devoid of man-made plastics and thus the ingestion of microplastics.

I still love my little yellow Eagleclaw Featherlight fiberglass rod!
