RIP to all the Finn raccoon at my local fly shop 🤣 gotta keep that stuff on the DL! Keep the vids coming bro, been a fan for awhile!
hahahaha
Eric, Your a very good Teacher! I love how thorough you are explaining your fly tying technique. Bravo!
Glad it was helpful!
I can see why you're in the chips on this one. Fantastic.
Been watching since 5w chronicles. Don't know why you don't have a million subscribers. The Flip of the new age!
Haha thanks for the long time support! Finally just hit 1m views across my lifetime of this channel last week. I achieved that with 3 5wt chronicles videos on Vimeo 6 years ago.
@@Eric.Estrada my son is sitting on the Texas state youth fly record for a 21.5 inch flounder!
On a 8wt Outlaw rod and reel. I carry my 5wt everywhere though. We're central Texas so it's mostly bass and bluegill til we hit the coast!
Nice fly, nice video. I'll pick up these materials and start tying this one. Well done!
thanks so much for the tutorial. Just tied a couple,
Yea brother!
‘Conical’ may be the word you are looking for. Nice fly. Think I’ll tie up a couple and try them in Pine Island Sound.
I looked it up, and conular is in the urban dictionary, so that’s good enough for me. 😂
great fly
Thanks for sharing
Nice , I like it . Keep um coming
Cool looking fly
Bro what a masterpiece! Quite satisfying to watch
Hahaha thanks brother
Nice fly dude! Oh...and love the music
Quality content people!! Look at it! Lol. Great work.
Much appreciated!
Lookin' good, brother! Glad to see you're still slingin' bugs.
Thanks, man! Nice to hear from you!
You just got a new subscriber. Nice video
Awesome, thank you!
Good one!
Thanks!
Nicely done! Subbed!
Thanks for the sub!
Like the simplicity of your patterns. Do you have any issues with corrosion with the B210S (i love these for freshwater, but they are not stainless, so I have not used them in SW patterns).
Thanks, as long as you don’t put a wet fly into a fly box, the hook will outlast the fly. But this is true for any fly. If you put a wet fly into a fly box, it’ll rust underneath the materials. I’ll use the same fly for months sometimes with zero rust issues.
I really like the look of this fly. I bet it would work really well on Smallmouth bass up here in the northern fresh waters!
One question-I’m curious why you tie in the weedguard before wrapping the body? It seems like the weedguard would just get in the way?
One note on Mason hard mono-I was having a difficult time finding it on line, but after doing some research, it turns out the factory is just 30 min from my house. 😂
haha that's awesome about the hard mason. It can be hard to find at times. I have found it to be way easier to tie on before I wrap the brush forward, it just comes out cleaner at the end.
Will it be possible to have it as a new bass fly jig
Dig it! Going to the Chandeleur Islands, LA in June....tying a ton of this stuff!
This fly has been very effective for me in LA. One of my favorites. I also use purple and chartreuse.
@@Eric.Estrada Tying some now!
great vid you should do a fly tie once va week bro i know i make all of them and try them on the west coast here ft myers
haha 1 a week is a lot! I am trying to do 1 every 5-6 weeks.
Eric, do you think that 2-prong weed guard is materially better than the full loop version commonly used on bass flies?
I think so, but I can’t tell you definitively. I’ve caught hundreds of fish with it, works great. I’ve probably caught 8 fish with a loop style. Partially it’s cause how I was taught 15 or so years ago, but the loops just felt not as good.
Any ideas for an alternative to the Finn Racoon? My local fly shop just laughed at me when I asked if they had it.
I sometimes use polar fibers, or artic fox. But it’s hard to find artic fox that is the right length. It’s usually a bit too short.
🌴 Hey Eric, I’ll have to see if I can find the materials what hooks do you use ? , well this hurricane really jacked up the fish’n , have to wait till things get back to normal, great vid as always ,tight lines bro . 👊🏼
I'm using the Gamakatsu B10s Stinger in a size 2. I use this hook on most of my flies. Hope you guys are safe!
@@Eric.Estrada 🌴 ya, no damage or flooding in the hood, we’re 11’ ft above sea level in my area , a lot of tree branches type of stuff got blown around , most of the damage is on the coastline from storm surge , spent the last two days watching videos and tying flies 😄👍🏼
really fishy looking fly , will be tying some tonight for my fl trip in march. hey do you guide?
Yeah hit me up on Instagram. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
I get my fin racoon from Emue no one where I lived carried it
Thank you, I will try not to wear dark shirts for these types of videos. I never even though about it. haha
Are you able to put a list of what you used?? DIDN'T see one.
I make something similar for trout great pattern killers
In the last video were was that last spot at
South Miami.
🌴Ya, couldn’t find any olive raccoon , could I get away with using olive premium craft fur ? 🤔 it’s more limber than bucktail ? ( found some olive Arctic fox tail ? ) I’ll try it .
I wouldn't use craft fur. Maybe try a polar fiber or arctic fox.
@@Eric.Estrada yea I got the Arctic fox tail fur in olive, craft fur was just way to limber , tied up a couple of flies already but haven’t had a chance to use em, been to busy with the nano skiff project , it’s going to be raining the next 3-4 days in our area , won’t be able to do anything on the boat , might try the flies in between cloud bursts 😆 👊🏼
