The Lancôme Holiday sets are great as well as the MAC lipstick sets. I have Mexican friends and black friends- I give them the deeper toned lipsticks etc. it is cheaper to buy the sets. We have fun swapping. Benefit is a hit or miss.. I have white skin with a rosy undertone- even their products can be too light.
I’m a medium and I can wear all of those blushes and bronzer (except Cloudia, but I’ve never seen that one before), and the lip tints would work for my shade as well. For me, this would be a good value but I can see how people with very fair and deeper skin tones might not be able to use all of it.

Based on the "value" Benefit claims for this calendar, each of these items would have to average $13.38. That's laughable but also feels like robbery at the same time. Especially when you can't even make sure the brow products are the right shade
It actually offends me when brands include tiny little samples like that. I’d rather see a smaller advent calendar with 12 days of full size or normal mini products instead of including so many items that just kind of cheapen the experience. I guess what I’m saying is, I’m more interested in quality of quantity
I splurged on the Harrod’s advent calendar, yes it was expensive ($300) with shipping but such great products, and an estimated value of like $2100, I couldn’t say no😆
My conclusion after last year was that only the luxury UK brands were worth the price, & you’d better be prepared for a sizable investment, but that the end “haul” was a great idea for luxury customers. I wouldn’t do it, I also have a closet of stockpile (using it up but can’t buy more), but the harrods box last year was WOW!

Yes! Advent calendars with Lauren! I can tell you right now I have no interest in and will probably never buy an advent calendar bc I like knowing what I'm getting. But i miss Advent meaning a time of quiet winter reflection. But I grew up in the sticks, it was probably already over in urban America…
It's targeted for people that don't know the brand very well and want to try a wide range of products. But, I agree a lot of these calendars are just way too expensive for what they are.

I think I'm just old now, though literally moving house at the weekend may be influencing me too...but all I can picture with these advent calendars is clutter 🙈 Like, stressful feelings against clutter. My living space has reduced by half, so I need to be super mindful of what I own and how it fills my space. However, for young or new to makeup individuals, I can see how these calendars can be a fun way to sample what's available and see what works for you

I really enjoy your videos on the advent calenders. I use a lot of lip tints and longwear formulas for work, so I wouldn't mind all the micro sized lip products. I have so many already, so I wouldn't be able to use them all up anyway. Overall, I would be happy with this calendar. I think you covered all the most important factors well. I would be OK with all the mascaras and blushes too. I love the little basket everything came in.

This calendar has the value for me to feel like I’d get a good deal. I never use lip products all gone when they are full size so I could use these to empty. The blushes to me are a lil bland. I like mauves and pinks and they are all to warm. Buuuut overall I think k it is adorable!❤😊

It feels like they will have a full size later 👀
They should’ve included either a full size of the new lip formula, or a coupon to get one for free in whatever color you want. It really felt like a missed marketing opportunity to just do minis. I do want the basket, though 😅

If they have you all those samples but then ALSO a coupon for a full size product so you can a full size of the product in your chosen colour at the end I would consider it worth it!
Excited to hear what you think of the setting spray. My dry skin can’t handle most sprays that make makeup last - Charlotte tilbury, once size etc. but the Benefit I find helps makeup last without drying me out and leaves a really pretty “sort of blurred” effect. It’s inbetween a hydrating spray and a spray that leaves a film.

I know how much you love fragrances so you should give the Liberty advent calendar a chance. Also, Harrods has a 12 day scent calendar that’s right up your alley. I think Selfridges is a little disappointing this year. The one that I really want is the Cult Beauty Scent for You Advent Calendar but it doesn’t ship to the U.S. I would also love the Sephora UK advent Calendar but it’s having issues with hopping to the U.S.

The small minis all seemed to be color products. Which is good. The universal stuff was more often bigger. The regular mini mascaras are also kind of good idea as mascaras get old pretty fast so unless you are careful about not opening them before you are actually ready to use them, they might have gone bad. The idea of the sizes were good, I'm not going to comment too much on the price.
I always appreciate the unboxing of the make-up advent calendars....i think id like to buy one, the small sizes would be great for travel and then you could refill from your regular make-up...but then i see them opened up, and the rediculous prices, and all the packaging that basically is the biggest cost in making it all, and you throw it all in the bin, causes more landfill...and i tell myself, nope! I'm at 6:55 and it's a no. The only thing I liked so far are the eyebrow stuff because I've used them in the past and know they are good but the color choices suck. They are too light for me to use as a medium/deep skin girl. Also what's with these ultra mini sizes. I don't mind buying some mini size products because I don't always want so much product that I cant get through but some of them are tinier than even a mini. Edit to add: If they really wanted to do a good job they could have made at least two advent calendars with at least two options but the same products, light or dark. They could choose lighter shades for the light one and darker shades for the dark one. Then significantly lower the price if they are going to give you so many ultra minis so that you aren't disappointed.
I feel like using these tiny little products would be so unenjoyable... And that at that price, definitely not worth it. Maybe if it was like $50-$75 for someone's teen daughter.
Look, here’s what I want from a perfect advent calendar: 1) shade selection PLEASE 2) limited edition merch, or could just be the way they launch some merch. Like can you imagine Benefit hats or hoodies or ornaments? That would be so cute. 3) the actual calendar itself to be reusable. Not this coated paper crap that is literally going in the garbage. Like they could do reusable, sturdy, non-branded/numbered boxes that the buyer could reuse as gift boxes for other things. Or it could be a beautiful keepsake wooden calendar with little drawers that you can fill yourself later! I can see these things in my head and they’re CUTE DANGIT Also, when a brand is in a conglomerate, why don’t they just include products from all the brands? Like a L’Oreal advent box could include Lancôme, L’Oréal, Maybelline, Nyx, etc. Estée Lauder could have EL, Too Faced, Urban Decay, Smashbox, etc. And I agree about the size thing. All 25 (basket included) should add up to like $6.56 each, and I would NEVER pay that much for a literal microscopic sample size. I’d rather have 12 travel sizes of bestsellers than 24 specks of junk. However I guess for them it’s just to get people to try their other stuff, but there are better ways to do that than charging people $7 each lol.
I haven't bought a mini size/travel size since they raised the prices closer to 20+ dollhairs. Maybe they are putting more of them in the advent calendars to get rid of them. Possibly, they aren't selling as well anymo

As an Ulta Diamond member, I’m always making purchases when you can get some kind of bag of ten or twenty samples with a $60 purchase or whatever. I currently have those same brow gel, primer, face mask samples in there from those Ulta goodie bonuses, I think I may have even more Benefit samples than that from those. The blushes would be nice, but let’s face it…. We all have more blush than we could ever use up!!!!!
The thing with the minis is surely the material cost of making the mini vs full size is minimal and people would be more excited with full sized. Plus they went through the effort of designing special mini packaging which costs money. Of course if they sell you the minis in the calendar and you run out and buy the full they make more from you. If they sold you a bunch of giant ones in the calendar you might never use up all the big ones in time to rebuy

In the UK we are very lucky to have a choice of amazing beauty advent calendars-but as much as I like Benefit, this is not good value for money, I foresee it being reduced in price in November.

Edit to add: If they really wanted to do a good job they could have made at least two advent calendars with at least two options but the same products, light or dark. They could choose lighter shades for the light one and darker shades for the dark one. Then significantly lower the price if they are going to give you so many ultra minis so that you aren't disappointed.
I feel like using these tiny little products would be so unenjoyable... And that at that price, definitely not worth it. Maybe if it was like $50-$75 for someone's teen daughter.

Look, here’s what I want from a perfect advent calendar:
1) shade selection PLEASE
2) limited edition merch, or could just be the way they launch some merch. Like can you imagine Benefit hats or hoodies or ornaments? That would be so cute.
3) the actual calendar itself to be reusable. Not this coated paper crap that is literally going in the garbage. Like they could do reusable, sturdy, non-branded/numbered boxes that the buyer could reuse as gift boxes for other things. Or it could be a beautiful keepsake wooden calendar with little drawers that you can fill yourself later!
I can see these things in my head and they’re CUTE DANGIT
Also, when a brand is in a conglomerate, why don’t they just include products from all the brands? Like a L’Oreal advent box could include Lancôme, L’Oréal, Maybelline, Nyx, etc. Estée Lauder could have EL, Too Faced, Urban Decay, Smashbox, etc.
And I agree about the size thing. All 25 (basket included) should add up to like $6.56 each, and I would NEVER pay that much for a literal microscopic sample size. I’d rather have 12 travel sizes of bestsellers than 24 specks of junk. However I guess for them it’s just to get people to try their other stuff, but there are better ways to do that than charging people $7 each lol.
I haven't bought a mini size/travel size since they raised the prices closer to 20+ dollhairs. Maybe they are putting more of them in the advent calendars to get rid of them. Possibly, they aren't selling as well anymo
Great video 👍👍 some of these look so little they were disappointing and I usually like miniature things but not with this kind of price tag I agree with you at least a deluxe sample ❤ It's definitely very cute and adorable some of those are Beyond mini though they probably could literally be used in a dollhouse 💙 I don't have any of those blushes and I miss having that brow setter 💜 long story short literally all my makeup expired so I have been just trying to build back up some kind of makeup 💛 it took me forever just to be able to have enough makeup to do a full face ❤ I'm still shy the right shade of a concealer but 💚 I wish I could find this when it's 50% off but their probably won't be any left add a calendars are pretty good at selling out that's probably why I've never got my hands on one before 💙💛❤💚💜

As an Ulta Diamond member, I’m always making purchases when you can get some kind of bag of ten or twenty samples with a $60 purchase or whatever. I currently have those same brow gel, primer, face mask samples in there from those Ulta goodie bonuses, I think I may have even more Benefit samples than that from those. The blushes would be nice, but let’s face it…. We all have more blush than we could ever use up!!!!!
The thing with the minis is surely the material cost of making the mini vs full size is minimal and people would be more excited with full sized. Plus they went through the effort of designing special mini packaging which costs money. Of course if they sell you the minis in the calendar and you run out and buy the full they make more from you. If they sold you a bunch of giant ones in the calendar you might never use up all the big ones in time to rebuy

I don't think the value is over 300$... but overall a pretty decent box. There have def been worse. And i love the random little grocery theme!

Brand specific ones end up just being dumping grounds for full size product that isn't selling or tiny minis of lines they're trying to push.
In the UK we are very lucky to have a choice of amazing beauty advent calendars-but as much as I like Benefit, this is not good value for money, I foresee it being reduced in price in November.
Benefit goes into 3rd off on boxing day
