    There is no switch on this earth that feels more satisfying than model f's, followed by Orange Alps (best tactiles). Sold my IBM 84, but I still got my F-122 which I will keep as long as I breed.
    Good stuff.

    Loved this video-it had the professional level of cinematography that you’d expect from a “bigger channel,” the intimacy of a more personalized channel, and the calming commentary of a traditional ASMR channel
    Definitely subbing

    Thank you very much for putting together this relaxing video for the wonderful Model F. The way you shot and lit everything demonstrates your talent and serves to showcase this delightful keyboard. I really like how you took your time and carefully went through each step of the process. I'm going to model your work when I clean and restore my keyboards, too.

    I like the fact that the function keys are in two columns on the left of the keyboard -- where God intended.

    This video is so well done!! The editing and filmography were so well done, and what a great keyboard find. You did a fantastic job revitalizing this old keyboard and giving it a new home.

    Many thanks for the video and for helping to save another one of these amazing keyboards. Once you've used a Model F, it's impossible to return to using any other type of keyboard. For myself, I incorporated a Teensy with Soarers firmware inside the case and then replaced the heavy black cable for a thin braided USB cable.However I've since come to regret doing that as it detracts from the originality of the device.

    • @howardishere
      @howardishere  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was thinking of doing that as well but I went with the soarer’s adapter instead so it doesn’t ruin the inside

    Bought one of Model F Labs' F77 repros and it's absolutely amazing! The reproductions have a more modern layout which is nice but I now really have an itch to try the older layout... This video convinced me to pull the trigger and buy an original one. Excited to see how it compares!

      Glad you liked the video! I think if I have both keyboards I would like a modern layout more

      @@howardishere Whenever it gets here I will update you with my thoughts! Just looking at it, I can already tell I would like the XT's position of the ctrl key more for sure.
      OH and I almost forgot to ask; how has it been for you so far? Are you still using it as a daily driver?

    the only downside of the buckling spring is the very loud pinging, but i think that, without affecting the originality of the keeb, think cant be helpe and adds character to the keyboard. Amazing find

    • @howardishere
      @howardishere  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea overall this keyboard is super loud. But it’s the character so I won’t be changing anything about it and so far I really enjoy using it :)

    OK! Somebody CLUE me in! I got a MODEL F Keyboard and the converter. Hooked things up. Turned on the PC and NO JOY. Is this a case of WIN 10 won't recognize the keyboard OR is there something that I don't know about that I need to do? SERIOUS QUESTION. PLS ADVISE!!!!

    • @howardishere
      @howardishere  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wish I could help but mine is just plug and play it works immediately. May be a faulty converter? I am still using mine to this day and problem free. Where did you get your converter?

      A FIRM called TINKERTOYZ??? At THIS point, I am NOT sure if the KEYBOARD or the CONVERTER is the problem? Do You have a suggestion as to where to try for a CONVERTER?? MANY THANKS!

    Why buy this instead of a new model f which doesn’t need cleaning and is priced lower than resale prices for used models

    • @Toblehrone
      @Toblehrone 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Depends on where you are in the world; if you're outside the US, a used Model F is usually a better deal than the Model F reproductions.
