    Does it matter what the tub is made of (metal, acrylic or whatever) as far as whether or not to do certain steps (for instance the acid wash) or are the steps all the same regardless of tub material?

  • @georgetselikis6372

    Always be careful not to get acid in the tile as it will etch them and you don’t want that

    Does anyone know what he used to patch the unevenness around the overflow drain? I need to do something similar on my tub. Cheers!

    What do you think of the wipe on/spray on primers such as gorilla grip and cross-link three?

    • @DPTubs
      @DPTubs  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would rather use a spray on Epoxy Primer than the wipe on. To me the wipe on primers are also considered adhesion promoters or bonding agents.

    Is there a budget gun out there for DIY? Do you know if you can rent them from Lowes or Home Depot?? I have the *_UGLIEST_* beige tub and shower stall color in both of my old modular home bathrooms. I don’t think they’ve ever been refaced/reglazed before. This is the first in it’s 40 year life span. Your channel just made my month because I didn’t realize I could reface these busted ugly colors!! I thought it’d cost a small fortune to replace the tub and shower stall.
    The whole bathroom needs to be redone, as well as the small guest bathroom in the main hallway, in my tiny and old AF modular home. My next research steps will be figuring out how to remove the ugly fixtures in the shower stall, acrylic sink, and standalone tub and replace with basic brushed chrome fixtures. After that, I will be finding out if I can tile over the laminate floor that seems to cover every inch of the flooring under my carpet and in my bathrooms. Then, I need to see how much a new white toilet would cost from the plumber since a plumber we had here once claims that regular toilets found in Lowe’s won’t fit in older modular homes(you bet your butt I’m going to measure and double check his ass). Then, I need to figure out how to DIY reface the ugly beige acrylic sink with a teeny tiny crack, remove the drain and fixtures and replace with basic brushed chrome from Lowe’s store brand if possible and either put a new counter on the sink area and maybe a counter on the lid on the storage box that’s next to the standalone tub and through a wall next to the sink cabinet, or, just buy a new bathroom sink and cabinet unit that’s likely to be a non-standard size since I live in a modular home. If I just replace the sink countertop, then I need to figure out where to get replacement cabinet doors that are more or less square. I’m *DETERMINED* to DIY as much of this as I can for under $1k. I wish I knew someone like you to ask what order I should be doing all this in after I repaint the walls.
    Maybe I should find a DIY modular home remodel subreddit? I’m a high functioning, high IQ autistic woman who doesn’t work and wants to contribute to the household. I would love to try home improvement projects and play with tools. I am mechanically inclined as I built my own PC, and remember and enjoyed wood and metal shop in school. My step father growing up was a carpenter so I learned some stuff from him as well. I really think I can do this. If I can finish the bathroom, I can re-carpet and paint the other rooms, refloor the laundry room and kitchen laminate flooring, and figure out what to do about the cabinets in the kitchen that someone painted that were originally covered with glossy fake wood covering of some kind. It wasn’t removed or sanded well enough so, now, the paint on the cabinets is starting to peel. I just want to re-do as much of this crappy house as I can in 3-4 years with as little cash as possible. Wish me luck. I’m going to need it.

    Way didn't you do a professional job and remove the tracks that would be the same color under the track

  • @friedazlife9074
    @friedazlife9074 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    So you didnt take the track off? So, if someone took that off there would be a memory strip of the old tub. This is the kinda shit, that a homeowner pays for a job and Mr. Jack Leg 🦵 🤔 comes along and paints OVER the track, giving a Jack Leg job. Hope you didnt charge that much for an "almost done" job...

    • @DPTubs
      @DPTubs  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Homeowner didn’t want track removed! If the track is removed they would most likely have to purchase a new one or eliminate it completely. Some tracks often bend or tweak when removed depending on how they are installed. Some have silicone or glues that cause them to bend when being removed.
      This is probably the most “jack leg” comment I have ever record! You’re “Frieda” say what you want but you are highly misinformed! lol 😂
