In this video I go through several examples of different hyperlapses and techniques I use to help get better results. I hope this video will help you with your hyperlapse creations.
Your videos are very good! Most people’s tutorial videos on here are so basic and pretend they’re experts but in reality they’re boaring for a beginner even. Keep going it’s incredible content. Ireland.
This is a great video! Your tutorial showed features I didn’t know were possible with the Mini 4 Pro. Very helpful. So much power in such a small drone.
Thanks very much for this excellent and TECHNICAL video which I truly appreciate. I love the amount of detail you cover...and how the Mini 4 Pro can be used to its fullest extent. Nicely done!!!
I've never use the course lock because I've always wanted to control where the camera was looking, not just looking one direction. But with using the point of interest and course lock, I'll be able to capture much longer hyperlapses! This is because I won't have to pre-fly the course to map it! With DJI Mavic Air 2S, I only get about 20 minutes of useable flight time with my batteries. So getting another 3-4 minutes on Hyperlapse time will really help increase over the 10 second mark! I would like them to be 20 second plus Ideally! Thanks for the great video
I'm glad this was helpful, I too find, trying to figure out how to use the least amount of battery for setup is important when it comes to hyperlapses.
For the hyperlapse, the interval setting is how long between photos and the length is how long the final hyperlapse will be. And it takes 25 photos for each second or 25 frames per second. So a 10 second hyperlapse would be 250 photos and if the interval was set to say 3 seconds it would take 750 seconds to compete the hyperlapse. Now you will set the speed using circle and course lock mode and in waypoint mode the speed is determined by the total time to complete the hyperlase (so 750 seconds in my example) and the total distance covered by the waypoints. Hopefully that helps a bit.
I'm glad to hear you found it helpful, the reason the camera seems to jump is because I didn't properly match the frame rate of the hyperlapse with my timeline in editing. So it's not the hyperlapse itself it's just a mistake in editting.
That's cool! I bought the Freewell mega pack shortly after the M4P came out and at that time they didn't have the ND2000. I'm definitely getting one. On a sunny day I couldn't even get a one second shutter speed using an ND1000 without the shot being overexposed.
@@CreateandKaptivate yeah I got the all day one I think. Same. Only has an ND1000 and no 2000’s on Amazon either. It’s $20.00 for one but oh well 😆 the ND1000 isn’t cut it for a sunny day.
The actual hyperlapse doesn't have that stutter. It was caused in editing, because I didn't properly match the frame rate of my timeline to the framerate of the hyperlapse. My timeline was 24fps and the hyperlaspes are 25fps, so they're losing a frame every second.
Great tutorial, thanks! I have a few questions regarding motion blur - do you get any blurred photos with those long shutter speeds? Does the drone stop each time it takes a picture? What's the longest shutter speed suitable for hyperlapses?
I believe the drone does stop when taking the photo. But there are other factors like wind that can cause blurred photos. Personally I've found 1 second to work quite well, but sometimes even with an ND1000 I have to go to 1/1.25" or higher to get correct exposure. Night Hyperlapses are a whole new set of challenges but one thing I found is bright lights will get overexposed and blurry using longer shutters speeds of 1second or higher.
So what would be the ideal, a short interval, a long duration and a fixed target or objective (avoiding moving the camera)? Using mostly a 1 second shutter speed.
Is there a jump in the hyperlapse every few seconds? Is this a feature of the drone moving forward too quickly or something to do with post processing?
I made a mistake in editing and didn't match the frame rate of the clip to my timeline, so essentially the clip is losing a frame every second which is what you are seeing. Something I didn't realize until after I had uploaded the video. Oops!
So what would be the ideal, a short interval, a long duration and a fixed target or objective (avoiding moving the camera)? Using mostly a 1 second shutter speed.
To be able to select a 1 second shutter speed you need to use a minimum interval of 3 seconds. Now the idea is to be capturing some movement between shots so the slower the movement the longer you want the interval but also the higher you make the interval the less images you'll be able to capture before running out of battery.
Very useful information, thanks for that. I’ll be using your advice to make my travel videos look better….. Until I wrap my Mini 4 Pro around a tree, anyway!!
As far as I know you don't have the option to choose your resolution in hyperlapse mode. If you go into your camera settings when you have hyperlapse mode selected, the resolution seems to default to 4k.
Haha, that's a good question. Off the top of my head, I don't know if or how you could pull that off. But something to think about 🤔 if there is a way, it would certainly be worth making a video about.
To be honest, I'm not exactly sure why it does that. There is a possibility I miss matched frame rates. Also in some situations using and editing with the raw files produces better results.
Yes, I know you can, I haven't used Lr yet, but I have used the raw files in Davinci Resolve, they do require some color grading, but I can often get better stabilization and much less cropping than the hyperlapse created by the app.
I haven't actually tried it, but if you open the quick settings on your controller, by swiping down (x2) from the top of the screen. There is a volume slider just below the screen brightness, try turning that down, I think that should do it.
As for (mattiaburling) receiving feedback is a normal part of growth and development, and that it's an opportunity to learn and improve. So maybe some care.
Please I don't mean any disrespect...& I don't mean to burst your bubble...but the constant movement of your hands is so distracting pls halt the movement of your hands it's so hard to concentrate. Other wise a great video.
I actually use the ND1000 for most of my daytime Hyperlapses, that is if I am trying to use a shutter speed around 1 sec. Even on cloudy days I will still get really good exposure, in fact on sunny days I have to raise my shutter speed to 1/1.67 or even 1/2.5 to not have things over exposed in the shot. Also, reducing the amount of sky in your shot will help bring down the overall exposure.
I'm not 100% sure, but I fly just outside of downtown not actually in downtown, there are too many tall buildings to either crash into or cause a loss of signal.
woah nice intro music. every drone video has those tekno electronic musics, this music and intro felt so good
but i dont like the feel of you reading text from a prompter :D feels so un natural,
Glad you liked the music! And thanks for the feedback👍

I agree. There's a lot you can do with the mini 4 pro. Hopefully, these videos help demonstrate that 👍
Great info
Thankyou!
Would love to see your Hyperlapse planning and setup during night with car trails like your intro.
Haha, good timing, you just might be seeing that very soon 🤔
Great vid! So many options 🤔 How do you decide shutter speed and interval settings?

Great tutorial, can someone explain the exact meaning of the setting tho, interval, speed, etc i cant find anything and its what i need to understand

Thank you. I have found it useful. I did find though that every second or so the camera does noticeably jump. Why is this.

Thank you handsome love you❤
B&H photo (Freewell directly) has an ND2000 filter for the mini 4. I think that may be ideal for day shots.

I thought the same thing, a bit pricey for one, but it will be very useful on bright sunny days.😎
Great tutorial. Do you know why there is a periodic stutter (ie a very slight pause every half second or so)? Thanks
The actual hyperlapse doesn't have that stutter. It was caused in editing, because I didn't properly match the frame rate of my timeline to the framerate of the hyperlapse. My timeline was 24fps and the hyperlaspes are 25fps, so they're losing a frame every second.
Many thanks for the super quick reply. That's good to know and - once again - great work.

Night Hyperlapses are a whole new set of challenges but one thing I found is bright lights will get overexposed and blurry using longer shutters speeds of 1second or higher.
@@CreateandKaptivate Thank you! In after effects there is a “pixel motion blur” effect, which can help if shutter speed wasn’t long enough.
So what would be the ideal, a short interval, a long duration and a fixed target or objective (avoiding moving the camera)? Using mostly a 1 second shutter speed.

Haha stay away from those trees, but that's great! I'm glad you found this helpful.
Great tutorial. Do you know why the clip at 7:15 seems to jump/glitch every second or so?
I didn't properly match the frame rate in editing, so it's losing a frame every second causing the glitch.
@@CreateandKaptivate cool, makes sense. Thank you.
Yeah, it was something I didn't realize until after I had uploaded the video and it was too late to fix it. doh!😩
It it possible to shoot a hyperlapse sequence with 48 megapixel photo resolution?
As far as I know you don't have the option to choose your resolution in hyperlapse mode. If you go into your camera settings when you have hyperlapse mode selected, the resolution seems to default to 4k.
Any idea how to do a Dolly Zoom Hyperlapse
Haha, that's a good question. Off the top of my head, I don't know if or how you could pull that off. But something to think about 🤔 if there is a way, it would certainly be worth making a video about.
Watching your first 2 clips, the footage appears to jump every second or so, what causes this to happen?
To be honest, I'm not exactly sure why it does that. There is a possibility I miss matched frame rates. Also in some situations using and editing with the raw files produces better results.
@@CreateandKaptivate so can you edit the raw files in lightroom and later add warp stabiliser in after effects?
Yes, I know you can, I haven't used Lr yet, but I have used the raw files in Davinci Resolve, they do require some color grading, but I can often get better stabilization and much less cropping than the hyperlapse created by the app.
@@CreateandKaptivate thanks for this
Is there any way to lower the volume of the shutter sound or turn it off entirely??? It's very loud and a little annoying.
I haven't actually tried it, but if you open the quick settings on your controller, by swiping down (x2) from the top of the screen. There is a volume slider just below the screen brightness, try turning that down, I think that should do it.
I was doing a roof inspection and the obstacle avoidance beeping was driving me nuts, so I just turned the controller's volume down.
What's the song at the beginning?
It's actually a song I got from a music site, the title was hard-dynamic-rock, but I believe the song might be Run by BearStockMusic.
As for (mattiaburling) receiving feedback is a normal part of growth and development, and that it's an opportunity to learn and improve. So maybe some care.
lol, thanks ) I so stupid )) my max shutter speed was 1/3 s and i confused why )) in 2s interval mode =D
Haha I ran into the same thing at first, but then I increased the interval and realized that was why.
I really like your videos, but calm down with the hands. They mirror each other, which is distracting.
