Seems very strong, but also a bit braindead as far as its play patterns. That's why I've never liked reanimator: it's as Timmy as you can get for a competitive archetype.
@@bebopbountyhead Having played it in these 5 matches I strongly disagree that it's easy to play. It requires a lot of planning ahead and choosing the right time to capitalize on your position. Also sequencing is key. Few decks are "braindead" in my experience, Magic is a complicated game.
@23:40 I think the line is: Order graveyard so Ghoul is on top. Shuffle Shallow Grave in, Shallow Grave Ghoul, and swing for lethal. Your line obviously works, that lets us play around Force Spike/Daze.
Love this line, though it loses to Coffin Purge xD Obviously playing around Daze/Spike/Erase is better, but sometimes you just REALLY want to cast a 7 drop, don't judge me!
at 35:57, could you not activate Hermit, mill whole deck, flashback Therapy, targeting yourself and naming Ghoul, then use Shallow Grave to bring it back and attack? the opponent could Deed in response to the activation and you won't have a way to flashback Therapy, but it might be worth a shot.
Yeah, that may have been the play, didn't see it at the time. If I had Reanimate instead of Grave it'd be tricky cause my opponent could blow up the Breath and untap and Edict and I lose, but with Shallow Grave it's fairly safe, I'd say. Grave is SO GOOD in this deck!
@@fpawluszmtg sorry, I am late to the party, but correct line to win on the spot here even starts a little earlier. At 35:22 you set a stop in your upkeep, then go to your turn, then during upkeep you mill your deck for 1 mana, krosan rec for 2 mana, shuffle in shallow grave. Now you draw the shallow grave. before playing shallow grave, flashback cabal therapy and target yourself to discard ghoul. now shallow grave back ghoul for victory, they cannot do anything about it (edit: well actually they can still activate deed so you cannot flashback. But it is still the better line, because in your video you just got "lucky" to draw the shallow grave, this line guarantees it). You have exactly 5 mana to pull it off.
@@mtgbast YEEEEESSSS!!!! This line is siiiiiick and very much would have never thought of it! This deck is awesome, I can't believe how underplayed it is, still to this day!
So funny story, the Shallow Grave tech was totally by accident. The first month I played it no one had thought of smashing Hermit together with Stiflenought yet. So my backup plan was to use Buried Alive for Krosan Cloudscrapers and Sutured Ghoul and then Shallow Grave for the win. Never pulled that off but multiple times I Shallow Graved the Hermit. Flint was skeptical about it as first but after playing it he became a believer.
I think the Shallow Grave is the best piece of tech the deck has, and it came up so many times in these 5 matches only! Kudos for finding it, cause it really is masterful!
It's susceptible to mana disruption, and in particular Sphere of Resistance is a bit problematic... But besides that it honestly seems to line up quite well against it!
It always surprises me how underrepresented this deck is in the meta, considering how powerful it is. It's fairly easy to hate out if you care about doing that, but it never feels like anybody is ready for it.
@@fpawluszmtg yepp, exactly, there are so many decks, that nobody will be ready to hate it like ichorid 15 years ago, when 12 sb cards could be against it) cause you 100% knew: there will be ichorids in meta. AngryHermit looks so powerful and so many decks are just BUY for it. Fantastic. 1 card combo. Amazing.
What do you think about this Angry Hermit deck? Do you think it's underplayed in Premodern?

@@fpawluszmtg Not worried about Coffin Purge from the UW deck, but yeah, casting the 7 mana Ghoul is style points!
Thank you for supporting the premodern format!
Thank YOU for watching!

This deck looks SICKK, I wish I had a premodern playgroup irl because I wanna sleeve it up!
All you need is a webcam to get connected to a huge online community.
Great online community, not only on MTGO but also most people play though webcam. Obviously it's a lot better to play in person, though
49:27 Sadly Dreadnought will not ever trigger Dragon Breath as it triggers on mana value 6 or greater, not power.
Oh, I misread the card, I thought it was power. My bad...
Great video as usual! Loving the premodern content
Thank you! Really been enjoying playing the format
Yeeesss, I was waiting for this one.
And here it is! Enjoy!
Angry Hermit is Premodern's Oops All Spells
i took first at Jawncon 2022 with this deck. i was -2 reflecting pool +2 ESG but im getting the pools for sure. deck is super fun
Yeah, the Pools looked really, really good in these matches. Deck was a blast, super tricky to play too!
At 35:58 can you not activate druid, sac druid to therapy yourself naming the ghoul, then shallow grave it into play?
Yeah, it was pointed out by somebody else earlier. This deck is pretty sweet, tons of lines to find!
@@fpawluszmtg ah cool I hadn’t seen anyone else comment. super cool indeed! don’t mean to dog pile on ya
@@dizzzzy6 Haha, no problem! Thanks for checking out the video!
Miring those biceps tbh
Wonder how this deck is Vs RG oath ponza :)

Don’t forget that you can cabal therapy yourself amigo 😊
My favorite mode
this is very good. awesome deck. too bad that in my city people don't meet often to play premodern in person. it's a very lazy community
Maybe show them some content of what's possible in the format! That may help to get them going!
Deck looks like tier 0. I think it is choice 1 vs any field.

The only card i doubt is guide. I did not see it working in any one game. Maybe just 4-th duress is better🤔
It's there so you can Wordly Tutor for a mana to speed yourself up if needed and set up a big turn. As a 1 of I think it's probably worth it
Balance is banned, but it might be fun if it wasn't.
Lookup the Premodern Banned Series I host. The Balance league is disgusting.
Out of the cards in the banned list Balance definite seems like one that's NEVER EVER coming out xD
@@85mcarnold I'll take your word for it, I can't follow videos with actual cards, sorry to be picky ;) .
