I actually think this one is pretty underrated for the Millennium films. The history changes of Godzilla, and then the city changes of the megaguirus, as well as the characters are pretty enjoyable. The fights are pretty inventive too despite the special effects not being up to snuff. If you ever need help pronouncing these Japanese names, I'd be glad to help lol

She treated Godzilla like a fool but it back fire on her. Its not straight garbage but its a very slow movie for the most part, honestly it might be the slowest godzilla film to ever be created, which just isnt fun to watch at all for most people. All props to you if you really enjoy the movie that much, but most people just cant find the fun in a slow movie that has a rough plot and no outstanding characters. The only good parts about the movie i remember was the final fight and the scuffle on the island, but maybe i remember wrong because i was about to fall asleep while watching🤣 And though Megaguirus is a cool monster, the movie she is in doesnt help her at all. Especially when she isnt even around for most of the movie.
This is one of my favorite of the Millennium films. Even though it's silly at times, I enjoyed the light hearted approach. It was reminiscent of the goofier Showa films. The score is really good.

If that won't work, she could be a mutated dragonfly that would be drawn to Godzilla's Radiation, This would cause Megaguirus to attack Godzilla, because of how small Megaguirus at the time, she would be absorb to get more and more G-Cells and Radiation to become a powerful rival of Godzilla.
Megaguirus is a “She” I too was freaked out by this film as a kid. My older brother recorded it off Sci-Fi Channel when it premiered and the scene of Meganulon killing and eating that young couple scared the shit out of me when I was 5 years old
This is officially the first Godzilla movie I saw in the theater, and It was a spectacle to see in the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, after this one I saw all the millenium movies in the theater including a reshowing of Godzilla 200(American cut), and Godzilla 1954(Original Japanese Version) in the theaters in L.A./Hollywood
As far as I'm concerned, Megagirus seems like the perfect opponent for Rodan if the people at Toho or the MonsterVerse ever decide to have Rodan have his own solo film, something that hasn't been done for the giant pterodactyl since 1956.
I know the whole "vendetta against Godzilla" trope is cliche, but I liked the little touch they added that Tsujimori also blames herself for her C.O.'s death - if she had obeyed his order to retreat, they might have been out of harm's way when Godzilla crushed the nearby building, and he wouldn't have needed to push her out of the way. She's not just chasing Godzilla for revenge; she's chasing him for redemption. Say what you will about the rest of the movie, but the scene where she climbs on the Big G's back, plants a tracker and yells, "You won't escape me this time, you G*&#@$^ lizard!" as he swims away is one of the best scenes in the entire franchise.
Being a fan of "Ghost in the Shell", having the various characters simply refer to Tsujimori as "the Major", I repeatedly think of her as Motoko Kusanagi. And it does seem like something Shirow's famous full conversion cyborg would do! Speaking of bold actions, I've read a lot of comments about Captain Douglas Gordon being a "bada$$" character. Okay, he did have a certain "pro wrestler" type screen presence. But tell me, did he physically confront Godzilla to activate the oxygen destroyer "bomb" like Daisuke Serizawa? Did he actually touch the face of Godzilla in a final act of compassion as did Ishiro Serizawa? Did he climb upon the dorsal plates of Godzilla to take a ride as did Kiriko Tsujimori? Did he pull a "Captain Decker" and pilot a mini sub right down the throat of Godzilla to drill it an ultimately fatal wound? Those four are the REAL "bada$$" characters as far as I'm concerned. ;-)

There are a few scenes in this movie where you can see the strings holding up megaguirus...first time I’ve ever noticed it in a Godzilla movie. I think it’s the scene when megaguirus lands on that building at night and hurts the people’s ears.
As a 2000s kid and Godzilla fan this one was always my fav mostly because of the human scenes and the scene with the spawn attack the people in the city is probably one of my most memorable moments
Getting quicker on the draw I see! Made me go over to Amazon and start ordering the collections they have available, time to get my 6 year old up to speed on the G man himself!
I love how camp this film is. It’s really goofy and the characters are serviceable enough to me. They aren’t ground breaking, but they work and I still end up rooting for them. People say the effects aren’t good in this one, but I don’t see it. The effects look fine to me. They’re certainly better than Godzilla 2000’s awful chroma key shots, dated CGI, and Godzilla’s skin color and lighting changes. The fights in Godzilla vs Megaguirus were better than Godzilla 2000. They’re more creative and don’t devolve into boring shoving matches or excessive beam struggles between the monsters (things I hate to see in these films).
Honestly this is in my top 3 since I like the millenium designs a lot for all of the kaiju and agree with you at 10:15. A few more parts in that movie made me think of alien which is pretty cool for a Godzilla opponent to do. The idea of astronauts finding godzillas bones on the moon would actually be a great piece, the black hole gun not respecting time nor space, and essentially an evil alien godzilla fighting his earth counterpart that was unintentionally made by humanity sounds just as fantastical as well as keeping the core idea of humanities hubberus creating another monster.
This was my introduction of Godzilla. I had heard of him and seen some snippets of the films through various sources, but I had never actually watched any of the movies. I love G vs Megaguirus and I do not understand the hate it gets. It is way better than G Millenium IMO. Millenium was terribly paced and dull. Megaguirus was a fun ride with an epic score and a great final fight. I love Godzilla vs a swarm of flying insecst, I love the flooded city and I think Megaguirus is a great villain that kicks Battras ass. With GMK you will be in for a treat. That one is a well-deserved fan-favourite.

I enjoyed this film greatly. I have the DVD of it. The high concept is “For years man has tried to kill Godzilla. This time the ladies get their shot.”
As someone who lives in the Southern US it was really exciting to see Godzilla go up against an accurate depiction of our mosquito ridden summers in this film. No giant irradiated queens have emerged yet, thankfully

I honestly like this movie and think it's a bit underrated, because it is not a showstealer like GMK, GxMG or Tokyo SOS, but it has a good visual look and a fun movie to wathc. CGI is improved compared to G2000, and it is a movie with color, lights and some cure for details. The shot with Shibuya drowned in waters is pretty cool, and the battle is quite creative and entertaining.

I always liked the design of Megaguirus. Flying creatures have always been interesting for godzilla to fight imo. The design just looks cool and looks pretty distinct enough from Battra which is an "evil mothra"
Although this film is not the best godzilla movie out there this movie is sentimental for me because this was the first godzilla movie I watched so it does hold some value to me.
I think of this and the Kiryu movies as sequels to Godzilla 2000. I know they go out of their way to state that they're in their own continuity, but honestly nothing in the movie is that drastically different, and the suit is basically the same.
this is not the only Godzilla movie with a narrator the American original 1954 Godzilla had Raymond Burr narrating in his scene talking into a mic to record Godzilla's rampage and with out it...

I honestly like this movie and think it's a bit underrated, because it is not a showstealer like GMK, GxMG or Tokyo SOS, but it has a good visual look and a fun movie to wathc. CGI is improved compared to G2000, and it is a movie with color, lights and some cure for details. The shot with Shibuya drowned in waters is pretty cool, and the battle is quite creative and entertaining.

I always liked the design of Megaguirus. Flying creatures have always been interesting for godzilla to fight imo. The design just looks cool and looks pretty distinct enough from Battra which is an "evil mothra"
Although this film is not the best godzilla movie out there this movie is sentimental for me because this was the first godzilla movie I watched so it does hold some value to me.
I think of this and the Kiryu movies as sequels to Godzilla 2000. I know they go out of their way to state that they're in their own continuity, but honestly nothing in the movie is that drastically different, and the suit is basically the same.
