I love them too, but the #23 last just does not fit my foot quite right. The toe box is supposed to be roomy but at the same time it's way too narrow? Make it make sense?? Also, idk what it is about the 875's but they keep getting mold in them! I have a pair of 8085's that have never gotten mold!
@pinchpeak5203 do you use shoe trees? They can help absorb moisture after wearing them. Also people say give it time to dry out (a day if possible) before wearing them again
That linen shirt you are wearing looks like it’s wrinkled in all the wrong places, like it sat in a dryer. Linen should only wrinkle at the crease points, and those will crease heavily and look cool.
No hate, but this seems like almost an extension of the same attitude. This is like the inverse of trend chasing. If you liked them at one point, but didn't want to get them to look like you are chasing a trend, you are still worrying too much about what you think it says about you. If you like something, get it. Wear it till you don't like it, don't worry about what other people think you are doing. I get it if you are waiting for hype to die down so that the prices are cheaper or the product is more available but whether people think you are chasing a trend shouldn't be a factor.
You can, of course, get the wedge sole on your Redwings replaced by any reputable cobbler, with a heal and lug sole. That’s one of the real advantages of Goodyear welting.
I too am conflicted about Red Wing boots. I have two pair of them. I have a pair of vintage moc toes that I have worn a couple of times and then relegated them to my garage to decide if I should toss them or try to sell them. My short wide feet don't seem to work with the last they are made on. On the other hand, I have a pair of Red Wing hiking boots I bought something like 25 years ago that just do it (except in the summer).. I can walk in them all day. For summer, I have. a pair of Thorough-good moc toes that do in the summer what my Red Wing hikers do in the winter. From walking to drivint a tractor to riding a motorcycle, they just do it. So, I understand your conflict. If it helps, for what they do, I think Red Wings are overpriced in most of the niches they try to fill in the shoe market.
@@TheIronSnail I grew up on the East Coast I know exactly what you’re talkin’ bout. Maybe you can layer over the top when the temps dip, like a cool navy P-coat?
This is my favorite video of yours because I love that you made a whole video to get out some of the very specific personal gripes, observations, and just peculiarities that stand out to you in these "8 peices" but I assume is true of ever piece you have ever tried on. I feel like I relate to it so much, especially when you started talking about fabric types or weights depending on cuts and silhouettes and the moc toe boots. I assume it was this very level of "nit picking" and always saying "if only this jacket had the pocket liners of the other jacket then it would be perfect!" that probably lead you to start this chanel, even though most of your videos remain focused sticking to just a detailed review or history or education I feel like I see that it is the the mindset that this video has that all of the rest grew out of.
I recently started updating my wardrobe after years of neglect and I got a lot of new clothes based on my "old" clothes sizing. Bad idea. Well it turns out those have just stretched to my body after years and I am not a 28 waist like I used to be but a 31, and smalls are almost always uncomfortable. Some of my old smalls tags and smaller waisted pants still fit, but lesson learned: I should not expect new clothes to fit like clothes with half a decade of being broken in. So yeah, check the measurement chart AND check your own measurements REGULARLY because your body fluctuates all the time, and your old clothes may adapt to those fluctuations. So off the rack fit is actually very weird and complicated it turns out
The iron ranger is redwings most famous boot. Love how you went 369 on the Mocs lol. Great video, these are good products. Those points in measurements for jeans mapped to brands sizes is a good point.
The main regrets I have is buying sweet fall and winter clothing/ heavy weight fabrics when I have to endure 100°+ weather and need light moisture wicking ugly clothes.
As someone who runs hotter than the depths of hades... i feel like this is the road ive headed down lately as well. Even though i live in wisconsin, the awesome boots/jeans/jacket ive recently bought are realistically only going to get worn during winter.
Linen was a revelation to me. I always felt uncomfortable in the summer both in terms of how I felt and how I looked. Enter linen, the God fiber, suddenly I like summer, I look good, and it allowed me to finally embrace looser fits. I also bike 3 miles to work every day on the lovely 300% humidity Virginia weather, believe it or not, Linen basically looks steamed by the time I get to my destination.
How quick you changed your mind on the classic moc is how I feel on a daily basis with most of my closet... I have so much stuff for sale and as soon as someone wants it I 2nd guess whether I should sell it or not lol. But the wedge sole is one of my favorite soles and I think it looks great for the RW Moc. Considering I ride motorcycles the wedge sole is nice because it provides excellent traction on the pavement and pegs and it’s far more comfortable to walk in in urban environments.
I am also critical of the crepe soles that people like so much, for me Im more of a standard sole or sawmill style lug sole which is what you said. I got my Roughnecks redwings with the sawmill style lug sole because of that and they are my favorite boot. for me im an ergonomics X Style guy. the Lug sole roughnecks are the winter boot, the standard sole blacksmiths are spring and fall and cool summer, The Paladium canvas boot is my casual wear warm weather boot. I agree about linen, but i think that you just need to get the wash and dry cycle right with it, take the shirts out of the dryer after a few minutes and let air dry.

The 550s can still stay in style if you dont get them in odd off colors like organge. It just becomes something to niche to style instead of just neutral colors.

I wear the 550 ironically now, which makes me cool again? Oh, and I think the dusty rose shirt is maybe a little too big for you and that's why it looks a little off? The shoulder seam droops down/off your arm, I think anyway. Just my opinion, but that's what I picked out
Haha. I feel the same way about the Red Wing moc toes. Some days I think they are comfortable, rugged, cool. Others I think they are clownish and ridiculously ugly. I own 3 pairs of them and I still can not make up my mind. Can't beat them as a comfy dog walking bout though.
I know what you mean about the soles on their standard moc toe. It was always a big turn off for me, but the roughneck they released recently is really nice. I just bought a pair and their comfortable and durrable
As someone who excitedly purchased some Corridor shirts when I came across the brand and then immediately returned them; they have some very odd dimensions if you're buying as someone with broad shoulders and thicker than average arms. Lovely fabric and weaves though!
I never went with trends. With my clothes I do the same thing. I love and hate them at the same time. And then I just wear them, lol. My only criticism is no new balance. The entire brand is for old men with feet issues. But you always look cool no matter. Wear what is comfortable.

You can see examples of this on the Thunderdome. …and yes that coat looks like it has dog hair all over it.
I can see just by looking at it that the 3sixteen jacket does not fit properly. If you sized up it would've been even worse. It's already baggy at the waist and too tight in the back and chest, also the pits look too low, causing that effect of the sleeves pulling back and the bottom being lifted when you raise your arms just a little bit. This is common in cheap fashion pieces, not quality products. It does look good unzipped through, which is probably what they were going for when they made it.
Most of the stuff I regret buying goes back today, but before I kept it, to sell on eBay, I think I have 5-8 items left to sell on eBay. And then that's it for me and eBay for a few years at least. I have maybe sold 5 items I regret selling, but thats another story

Try the Eddie Bauer Severson Moc Toe Boot (color: wheat). Currently on sale for half price. My first pair lasted several years and I am just starting on second pair.
The owner at Kai D utility told me that for linen we can hand stretch the fabric after wash when it still wet and it may help with the wrinkling… to be tested
I’ve been wavering on whether or not to have my 875’s resolved with a lug, and I really think I’m going to (and probably get another crepe sole pair 😮)
7:13 i guess i just really and I mean Really needed to hear this as my first pair of raw denim from bravestar (that i assumed will be the same size as my Levi's 501 of 29 in the waist) is way to small that I can barely walk in it and it hurts my thighs. @@TheIronSnail I don't mean to say that you aren't self supporting. I'm only saying that complaining about a tradesman boot when your means of support doesn't require the traits of a tradesman boot is hypocritical.
Move to the tropics , you’ll deal with the wrinkles, fantastic fabric. Breathable , durable , comfortable. Does it all ! But I get it.
I could never move somewhere that doesn't have deep and miserable winters!
Dude I fast forward to the moctoes and was thinking are you kidding !!! Then you changed you’re mind
This one has to be one of the weirdest vids I have seen of yours
Both the 3 sixteen jacket and the Mocs were a waste of time 😂
lol! I just needed to be honest
Why not re-soul your moc's with lugged soles :) You can do that with a GYW, they probably won't be as comfy to stand in though.
Wow this is well done. I enjoyed this very much. Subscribed!
Linen: Invent yourself an iron, Snail!
Instead of linen, try madras in the summer. The lightness of linen without all the wrinkles.
YUP fantastic idea!
did we talk about this a long long time ago btw...
@@TheIronSnail Oh! Did we?! Huh? Well, if you're interested, I got some madras shirts that no longer fit. Holla at ya boi.
The only way to deal with linen is to send it to a dry cleaner and get it pressed.
”I can’t. I hate that it wrinkles”. Only a sith deals in absolutes, Anak…I mean Michael.
...
Try the Eddie Bauer Severson Moc Toe Boot (color: wheat). Currently on sale for half price. My first pair lasted several years and I am just starting on second pair.
Lookin!
The owner at Kai D utility told me that for linen we can hand stretch the fabric after wash when it still wet and it may help with the wrinkling… to be tested
ooooooo now that's fascinating
Excellent choice of G-Shock sir.
why THANK you
I’ve been wavering on whether or not to have my 875’s resolved with a lug, and I really think I’m going to (and probably get another crepe sole pair 😮)
!! Send pics!
Can someone tell me which Vans model and color way is Michael wearing in the video ?
Love that Samuel Zelig sweater tho haha I still owned my cream one and it’s my fav haha
Get a cotton linen mix for the best of both
7:13 i guess i just really and I mean Really needed to hear this as my first pair of raw denim from bravestar (that i assumed will be the same size as my Levi's 501 of 29 in the waist) is way to small that I can barely walk in it and it hurts my thighs.
Now on the look for a different lighter pair of raw denim I will make sure to take measurements. Thanks a lot 🙌
ofc! Hope the new ones are spot on!
Best Moc Toe Boot= Nick's Moc Toe
Best Red Wing IMO= Iron Rangers
Moc Toe + Lug Sole= too Doc Martens late 90s ish....been there done it, not recommended.
Some say Nick's...some say Whites...now I have t get both
The moc toes just look funny in smaller sizes
how dare u
@@TheIronSnail I'd buy a pair, but my feet are too small
I much prefer a light poplin shirt over linen for material
3:31 why did you go 2001: a space odyssey on us like that
Bro the sweater fits you, do you want it baby sized or?
😂 The one 180’s on some items in this video. I always have that. I’m like I’m selling that or giving it away and then a day later I’m like no it looks great I’m probably gonna keep wearing it and then I’ll keep it 😂🤦🏼♂️
I have a stack of clothes and bags that I keep ALMOST selling then deciding I love
It doesn't look right when you're wearing those red wing moc toes without pants as you modeled in the video.
I know...but I just went for it like some sort of wacko
The squatting continues. LOL
100000% agree with the linen take. It always looks good in the model images but never when I get it. Just looks sloppy af.
I just feel like I arrived to the function unprepared
Indecision, love it.
it's how I roll
i thought if the toe curled up on red wings they are to big
I belong to 2 cults. The Iron Snail and The Grey NATO.
Linen is awesome! Embrace the wrinkle. Now! You'll have to when you're old anyway.
my goal is to wrinkle far quicker than my linen
The execution of the concept in your productions is grade A
snail's out, bail's out.
u heard it here!
Yo Michael, I have a vid idea you should review the Clarks Stinson Hi in a Oily Brown or Beeswax color.
Done!
All love and respect but... who's stopping you from ironing the linen shirt?
