Alison's voice is truly of the angels. She's absolutely magnificent . 😎
While it's impossible to say whose is the most beautiful female voice ever, Alison's is way the heck up there. And Jamey ain't chopped liver, either. There is soul in restraint, which they both prove here. They also prove that singing in duet is a special ability that not everyone possesses. The level of support and respect - of artistic empathy - is immediately apparent. I love how unadorned and understated Jamey's delivery is; quite often, less is truly more. And the variety of vocal timbres in his performance here is just exquisite. As for Alison (back to her)... well, she always sounds heavenly. On another note, big shoutout to the marvelous Kenny Aronoff, seen here behind the drums and cymbals. There's a reason he's so ubiquitous. Aside from being a great guy who always lifts the evergy in the room, no matter who he's playing with, he always knows just the right thing to play.
I totally agree with you about Allison's voice - chills.
Jamey Johnson is Awesome. Alison Krauss IS a gift of God !!! More Allison PLEASE !!!
That “twang” is exactly why I love traditional country music so much - sometimes to the ridicule of some of my contemporaries. And throw in a duet on top of those two great vocals, and you have pure bliss! I have been an Alison Krauss and Union Station fan for a long time. Thinking of “When You Say Nothing At All”, and a bunch of others from the Bluegrass genre.
I also would like to suggest for anyone who loves country duets, “When I Call Your Name” with Vince Gill and Patty Loveless. Here you get that “twang” with some really tight harmonies!
Thank you so much for this one, Bethany!
There's nothing like the goosebump test. I feel the same about Alison Krauss. I agree, she is the Queen of Collaboration, and nobody is better at harmonizing.
Getting goosebumps while listening to a singer is how you know they are good!
Spot on with the comparison to Willie Nelson, and so cool that he was in the audience. Alison Krauss is amazing!
I'm loving the story telling that seems to resonate through the country genre.....
I'm from Champaign IL, where Allison grew up. Her incredible talents Were recognized at a very young age and I've been a fan ever since. You were correct when you noted that she can belt it out. Her live performance of Atlanta showcases that skill as well. A once in a generation talent
Allison Krauss is an awesome and very talented artist I absolutely love her voice she has a God given talent.....
When you say nothing at all has been my favorite song for years. When I feel the world is cruel, evil and out of control....I can sit and listen to her simple but incredibly beautiful song and feel there is still a chance. Never heard another voice that makes me feel this way.
I have been waiting a long time since asking you to review an Alison Krauss performance. This more than makes up for the wait! Bravo to all of the performers and technicians who are able to produce such amazing live performances.
Great reaction Bethany! I agree with you. Alison has one of the most beautiful and purest voices I have ever heard. She is my favorite female singer. If you haven't seen it, watch 'Alison Krauss and Natalie MacMaster - Get Me Through December' live performance.
Agrees, this is a beautiful cover of this song. Alison Krause is a rare voice that can and does harmonize beautifully with any other singers' voice. A long time fan of her angelic voice.
Don Was in the background in total amazement when Alison starts singing.
It's that time of year, Alison Krauss and Yo-Yo Ma, the Wexford Carol.
This woman brings tears to my eyes when she sings.
OMG!!!! I also love Alison Krauss' voice. Especially her cover of When You Day Nothing At all. Gosh! piercing my heart.
Two of my favorite country artists.
Alison has such a pure voice, I’ve been a long time fan of hers since her teen years. I’m also fascinated by your analysis! This is my first time seeing you, and this is SO interesting! You’ve got a new fan!!
@buddy... I've been a fan since Alison was a teenager too...back in the 80s!! She's so awesome!
I'd have to agreed her voice is angelic probably my favorite female voice in country music
Love Alison's voice -- angelic.
Alison's voice is really something special. So piercing yet so soft at the same time. There's not a lot of other voices out there that have that quality. I reminds me of when a wine glass is made to sing.
Check out Alison with Robert Plant! Their band is phenomenal too. Can't Let Go is a fav.
I saw them in Shreveport April 2023. The level of talent on stage was incredible.
You're spot on about Alison Krauss. The voice of an angel. She could be singing a rendition of "Baby Got Back", and I would get goose bumps. My eyes would probably water up too.
An Alison Krauss rendition of Baby Got Back is what we need! I'm here for it!
Just TODAY, I was listening to Alison (with Union Station) singing "Stars" (gorgeous), and I wondered if you had ever done a video with her. And here it is. Thank you.
Her background in gospel and bluegrass makes her collaboration skills second hand! It's something that you must be able to do! But I agree that she has one of the most beautiful voices.
One beautiful ladie and her voice gives me goose bumps
If you ever get a chance to see Alison perform live you’ll be amazed. One of only a few shows I’ve been to that people in the audience kept their mouths shut and listened to her sing..there’s nothing worse than rude people who talk during a show…
You have the best smile on TH-cam!
Alison Krauss & Union Station - LIVE is my favorite.
In this same concert, Alison sings "ANGEL FLYING TOO CLOSE TO THE GROUND" . When she finishes and they show Willie, his wife is brought to tears. It is a beautiful rendition by Alison and it brings me to tears also. Give it a look.
Alison Kruass does indeed have the voice of an angel. Her pitch control is incredible. Her voice can smoothly transition from head voice to chest voice with no perceptible tonal change. She's amazing. I absolutely love her voice in "Whisky Lullaby" - I just cry like a baby when I hear it!
Get on with video
I love your insight and perspective on vocals! Always so informative 😊 Thank you!!
You should hear him do "In Color" and "Front Porch Afternoon."
Love you're videos. You cover a lot of bands and singers that I have admired for years. Love your presentation. You are such a pleasant soul and a beautiful smile. Keep it up. I do have a suggestion... Deep Purple - Child in Time. I don't think you've covered it. It's pretty intense IMO
Alison's best is "River In The Rain" chosen from Roger Miller's Broadway Musical: Big River. I think it won about 7 Tonys, though few have heard of it.
There is wonderful recording of Oh Atlanta live form the Louisville Palace, 2002...her voice is truly angelic...
I'll never forget the first time I learned about Alison Krauss, it was around 1982-3 and she was 16 years old. CBS 60 Minutes did a segment on her and at that time she had to be accompanied by one of her parents on the tour bus. They talked about her as a virtuoso fiddle player and one of the most sought-after back-up players in bluegrass. They never discussed her voice at all. She has without a doubt the most beautiful voice in all the world. I think the only one that can even come close is Emmylou Harris when she was in her prime. Alison Krauss is an Angel and a National Treasure.
Tha is probably why Alison Krause has 27 Grammy Awards. Yes 27 !
My cousin sang her song "When You Say Nothing At All" at my wedding back in 1998. Beautiful song.
This might get lost in the comments but I would love to see you react to a little miss lady you’ve reacted to before…the beautiful Diana Ankudinova, her performance of Dernière Danse. It’s beautiful!
When, You say nothing at all! My Absolute favorite- well truth IS NOTHING CAN THIS ANGEL VOICE IS ONE OF A KIND TO BE BEAUTIFULLY SURE❣️WILLIE AND Alison were scheduled for the CAVE! WOW to COVID🌪️
I agree she is the best.
When she duets with Vince Gill, "Whenever You Come Around" their voices mix perfectly. Worth a listen
This performance was part of the 2015 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for American Popular Song concert honoring Willie Nelson, in Washington, DC at DAR Constitution Hall.
Best version of this song
Willie was a master of embracing the space between notes as a vocalist. Prime example of less is more, and Jamey honors him well here. Allison Krauss…there’s just nothing I can add 🤌🏽
Jamey Johnson's cover of "two out a three ain't bad" is amazing.
The first time i hesrd Willie Nelson and Ray Charles sing this song it immediately became a top five song of all time for me.
Love the song by Union Station , Now That I Found You.
You need to hear Alyson Krauss sing with Vince Gill !!!
Alison Krauss is to me the greatest singer ever.! I've been to a lot of her and Union Station's concerts.! Angelina is my second favorite .!
Nice One! Never heard of Mr Johnson and though me being a Rock/ Metal Head I did buy the Now That I've Found You CD for those Angel Visitation Moments! Have you heard ELEPHANT REVIVAL yet?? They do a great cover of TOOL's SCHISM and Pink Floyd " HAVE A CIGAR". Another unique Female singer AND A Bluegrass type Band. Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
you cant bet Allison Krauss voice of an angel.
Yeah she has the best voice I've ever heard, no contest.
Robert Plant and Alison Kruass, one of the best duets together.
This crusty, old, head-banging, ProgMetal dude from Nashville will still stop in my tracks whenever I hear the unmistakable, peerless, incomparable, unique, beautiful voice of Alison Krauss, regardless of what she’s singing(.)
When you hear Alison's voice you just stop whatever you were doing. Listening to her is all that's important at that point.
I love your detailed analysis! Aaron Lewis has a rock band "Staind" but took a break to sing country. It was a successful transition. Im curious on what he does differently with his vocals if anything from rock to country. Quick story, i seen his country show in a small college stadium and his last song he grabbed his acoustic guitar walked up to the mic and moved it aside. Voice carried through that place beautifully. Grown men were weeping. A good song to show his full range for rock would be "For You" and for country "Pull Me Under". If you can only do one "Pull Me Under". Thank You!!!!!
Have you listened to Harry Nilsson yet? You can listen to one of his hits like "Without You", which is amazing, or something like "I'll Never Leave You" which is beautiful. Anything you pick by him would be great for a video.
I love your channel, by the way. I just discovered it a few weeks ago.
Please do some some more Aussie stuff, in particular cold chisel and Jimmy barnes
her albums with Robert Plant are fire!
She sings like Chet Atkins played the guitar, with precision and the proper attenuation of each note.
Another great reaction, m’am! I agree that Alison has the most beautiful voice to ever so much as hum a tune! There are three of her live performances that I still listen to often: “The Lucky One”, with her regular band Union Station; “The Boxer”, with Shawn Colvin & Jerry Douglas; and “Carolina In My Mind”, with Jerry Douglas. Yes, the latter two are tributes to Paul Simon and James Taylor respectively. Hopefully you will do at least one of these sometime. 🥹
Also, wouldn’t a collaboration of Alison & Home Free be something stellar?
Checkout Don Edward’s Masters call country road tv version. He is probably mid 70’s and it is phenomenal. Coyotes by him is interesting
Allison Krauss is awesome! What happened to your cover of Desparado? More Bethany vocals plz!
❤привет красавица!!!
Have you seen Alyson Krause and Robert Plant!?! They make an awesome pair!
there are many great voices that come at me but, Alison’s I have to walk toward. Hair on my arms, jumping-jacks with the first note out of her mouth.
Please consider reviewing Alison’s “Jacob’s Dream,” my favorite of hers. There’s a great video of it here on TH-cam.
You should review Alison's cover of the Emmylou Harris song 'till I gain control again. It will give you chills!
You must listen to Turnpike Troubadours - Hot Summer Day! Awesome!
Please pretty please do Xavier Rudd "spirit bird". One of the most impressive musicians please please. This song is pretty good too. Xavier Rudd!!
Alison Krauss could read the phonebook and I would swoon.
Please check out the song “I did the right thing” by Johnny Paycheck..Look on youtube for a pic that has “The soul and the edge” in it…Paycheck is considered to be the creator of the country style of phrasing on the vowels according to producer Aubrey Mayhew.
Since you love Alison Karuss so much - let's have some of the stuff she has done with Robert Plant please?
He’s somewhere between Haggard and Jones
I love singers that have unique voices like Alison Krauss, Amy Lee, Dolores O'Riordan and Bjork, to name a few. Yes, singers like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson and Christina Aguilara have wonderful voices with amazing ranges, but they all seem so generic to me. Having a strong belting voice isn't the only criteria needed to be considered a talented and beautiful singer. There is such a wide variety of singing voices, ranges and tones that are so wonderful and beautiful!
Part II 😁 So her Collab skills and singing with others I imagine comes from her Bluegrass background. I would guess it's a hardcore disciplined type of environment. Until they pull the cork!? 😉 ☮️
Sarah McLachlan would be an excellent study.
Willie knows her voice is gold 🤘
You should check out Alison working with Robert Plant ( of Led Zeppelin fame ).
🎉🎉🎉🧚♂️🧚♀️🧚
I wonder if you would understand what Im about to say. Do you remember when Allison was young that there was a quality about her voice that had a timber that as she's aged seems to have changed. It was a tinny quality, but not in a bad way. I never really understood how it soumded like that. It was alnost like her voice was tiny but powerful. I wish I knew the correct vernacular.
I think her song Jacobs Dream is my favorite and belts it.
Please react to anything from Alex Terrible. He is one of the vest death metal vocalists around at the moment in my opinion
Please please please do H. by TOOL studio version, ill love you forever (as if i don't already).
Please please please do Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Something from Raising Sand. Maybe Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us?
My dream would be if you did them doing Led Zeppelin’s Battle of Evermore- I heard it live a few years ago and it was possibly the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard, but I haven’t been able to find a decent recording of it. Maybe I was just meant to experience it in that moment and appreciate it then. But her voice was so truly otherworldly that I almost wept lol
Now do a breakdown of "21 pilots, stressed out"
Do Robert Plant and Allison Krause.
Off topic, but could you please react to Sarah Mclachlan " Angel " ( offical music video ) Thank you.
Alison Kraus - the voice of an aaaaangel😅
I would love to hear Alison sing with Josh Groban.
Is that Kenny Aronoff?!
Jamey needs one thing and that is Trigger
Enjoy your videos ; your choice of artists not so much. As someone who appreciates the beauty and purity of the human voice, you need to listen to “ Over the Rainbow” by “Izzie” ) Israel Kamakawio’ole) I started in music at the age of eleven ( now 74) ; have jammed with the Nashville Cats, the Eagles, and many others. Izzie will blow your mind; a beautiful soul taken from us too early.
I found myself trying to pick out Allisons voice in the duet and it seemed to me that Jamey's voice overshadowed hers. I will listen to anything with her singing. Yes I think she has the most beautiful female voice ever.
Please do Jeff Buckley. 🙏
As someone who has been fortunate enough to see her and Union Station several times, I can say that song was a pitchy train wreck from the start. She tried to put it back on the tracks, but she is just in a different league and it was obvious.
