The Gamo Magnum loves heavier domed pellets around 18gr. The Air Arms Field Heavy Diabolo are very accurate and very potent. The JSB Hades do very well too.

After shooting more than 16 different .25 cal pellets in my 135. I can say the most accurate pellets in my rifle are. 1- JSB exact king heavy ( MKll) 33.95 gr.
( perfect fit, great power, cero smoke) 2-- Predator Polymag 26 gr 3-H&N Sport Field Target thophy 19.91 gr( great accuracy but a little smoke) 4-H&N Sport Baracuda 31,02 gr.

Gammo is a smaller caliber than Hatsan so it’s most likely will have a deeper penetration. However, that does not mean the Gammo has a higher FPE. I’m pretty confident if you chronograph both rifles, Hatsan will have more FPE due to larger caliber and heavier grain.

Dam that gamo magnum definitely some serious punch to it. I like that you don't need an air tank, compressor or hand pump to keep air in it. Just add lead. Might have to get one. If you get into pcp rifles check out the Airforce Condor SS in .25 caliber. It is a tack driver and a powerhouse. I love mine. Oh and they are easy to make really powerful with upgraded parts and different barrels. I actually damaged my .22lr steel spinner targets at thirty yards with my stock condor ss turned up to high power. It put a perfect pellet head shaped dent one sixteenth of an inch deep into the center of the spinner and the targets are rated for .22 long rifle bullets. But one of those Gamo magnums might have to be mine.

I’d say use exceptionally heavy pellets for the .22 and exceptionally heavy pellets for the .25 because I feel like that’s what makes the difference is with a .25 you’re getting a slightly larger pellet along with more weight to rip through that target better great video btw 👍🏼👍🏼

that gun with the right pellet will still retain a little over 7fpe at 100 yards. i calculated this based off the ballistic coefficient of a specific pellet and the muzzle velocity it was being shot at, from there you can get the fps at any distance and thus the fpe. in the case i did it drops from close to 1000fps at muzzle to about 476fps at target with that pellet, as i said ending on target with 7.2fpe @ 100yards. i'm not saying this is it's effective range, but you can definitely kill rabbit, squirrel and small birds from 100 if you had to.
to me this is the ultimate budget shtf gun, just keep an xtra gas piston on hand because anything else including ammo can be made or fixed easily on break barrels. usually the spring to but this is a gas piston spring so you'd need to replace it if ti ever failed. the only better airgun for shtf is a smaller packable pcp big bore but they are $1500+ to check all the boxes and you still need to have an airpump and they will leak so will need more spare maintenance parts still. i still think the gamo wins tbh. i'd need to customize a stock tho to make this somewhat packable without shortening barrel
all that said i have a chaser 22 rifle kit on back order imma try and make into a legit hpa/pcp packable carbine that has same fpe as this gammo. i'll need to use the 19" stormrider barrel or some other barrel i think to get there as i dont think the 17" one it comes with will quit make it

I didn't like the radical on the supplied scope so I put a Hawke Airmax 3-9x40 AO scope on my, Gamo Swarm Magnum 10X GEN 2, .22. I used Crosman Premier Domed Ultra Magnum .22 Cal, 14.3 gr pellets, they had good reviews for this rifle & I didn't have time to check out other pellets.
I didn't hunt much this year since I didn't get gun shipped till January, I had to sight it in & hunting season was getting ready to close. I got a Squirrel @ 29 Yards & a Rabbit @ 47 yards, both those shots were barely within the quick kill range of this rifle. If you want to hunt @ longer ranges get a 22LR rifle, if you can find the ammo, its sold out here & expensive when you can find it.

@@makerofmanythings8447 I have several PCPs , Hatsan and GAMO springers. When shooting the diabolo pellets upwards of 800 FPS, heavier is the way to go. The lighter pellets have a tendency to cork screw in flight towards the target causing the groups to look bad. The FPS will drop as much as 200 FPS but the energy on target is worth it. The new slugs are amazing, just get the multiple size pack to see what your rifle shoots better. I find the .217 shoots well in my choked barrel PCPs. Also you used a pointed pellet in the Gamo. Pellets should be the same shape/ type. If you made another video with that criteria I would watch it again.

Knowing full well that the 22 would have gone through the plywood at 10 ft. At just any weight pellet just about, you gave the 25 a disadvantage to show it’s true power. Going to pyramid-air’s website you have to middle of the road the weight of the pellets used by Caliber, not the actual weight of the pellet. So on pyramid-airs website the average weight of a 22 pellet shows at about 17 grams or a bit higher, but in 25 caliber it 25 grams per pellet average. You took inertia away from the 25 by using a very low weight of pellet. Not saying I wouldn’t want either of the those air rifles it’s just an observation. The 25 should go through the wood in a 25 gram. Or give a better showing. Thanks for your time.

Your Gamo is still dieseling unlike the Hatsan you've shot many times. Wait until after you've shot your Gamo magnum about 300 shots or so and then retest them. You have to use an equal penetrating projectile in both, say like pointed ammo only which pointed would distribute an equal balance or use a domed pellet in both. I've done all these things to know the best ways to compare. Also you can make balistic gel and use equal comparable ammo for both. If one air rifle has been shot 300 times than the other needs to be the same. I can make any of them diesel. Or buy new air rifles and then test equally after making sure they're shooting and holding power properly without any defects or damage going on with the power plants..Ed the professional backyard sniper man ✌ lol

If the factory didn't build it properly it may not diesel very much I have found over time. I'm 53 and shooting since I was 7 or so. So I'm not new to this game here. So i wonder if you use the same grain pellet in 177, would you get same result? Or maybe better, since it would be slightly thinner and longer, thus more aerodynamic? Also maybe higher fps, since the same amount of air is pushed through a smaller barrel? I would love to see this tested out.

I like to shoot mag Break Barrels to long distances, to 100 yards with my Gamo Mag .22. So naturally, I favor a good domed pellet on the heavy side. I have tried a few tipped pellets, but they usually have not flown well past 40 or so yards. Not so with the H&N Hornet. That pellet shoots just as good if not better than the 18 and 15gr. JSB's Domes, (Hunter extreme H&N very good too), and in the right hands, is a 100 yard gun. I am at 90 yard 2" targets now, 4 out of 5 shots with that Hornet. I was going to go big for my first PCP, the FX .35cal Impact, but they never came out with it,---so I bought the Gamo. I have found the secrete to shooting a break barrel. They say "hold them loosely". I say try not to touch the thing at all, just squeeze the trigger as the only force into the stock. You can make the trigger lighter in pull for that. Even a 3.5lb trigger, (yours stock, can easily be made lighter with a longer screw and some bump testing), wants to move the gun when you are not touching it. Let me saver you time and money for a pellet you do not want to try. The JSB monster 25.xxgr. pellet .22. They tumble through the air and get 6" groups at 35 yards. The gun shoots a lot of pellets really good, but I think I am going to stick with H&N brand for now. I like the thicker skirt, and their quality seems a bit better IMO. Both the Hornet and the 18.xxgr. Hunter extreme are really really good in this gun. Those are all the H&N I have tried so far.

Was wondering if you could do a p penetration test with heavier pellets for the hatsan. If you use heavier pellets with the 25, it will increase the knock down power and accuracy down range. To calculate foot pounds of knocked power multiple the velocity of the projectile times itself then multiply that number by the mass of the pellet and divide by 450, 400. Example: if the Gamo swarm shoot 650 fps, multiple 650*650. That will give you a , velocity squared calculation of 422,500. Them multiple this number times weight of projectile, which in this case is 14.3 grains. 14.3*422,500=6,041,750. Then divide sum by 450,400 the aquire knock down force. 6,041,750/450,400=13.414.... Assuming the rifles has a velocity of 650fps, the knockdown of this rifle using said ammunition is 13.41ft/lbs of knockdown power. By using heavier pellets with the 25, you may get deeper penetration. It'll slow the velocity down just a little bit, but because of the heavier ammunition it'll maintain that velocity of a greater distances eliminating drop. Look forward to seeing another video
