      Great video. You had some really informative tips that i didn't think about, like holding E for recall. Keep up the good work.

  • @MiniSkuse
    @MiniSkuse 3 ปีที่แล้ว +196

    I learned two major things from this: You can hold E to recall (instead of just spamming it when slept/stunned) and holding jump to silence your fall impact.

    Dibs the amount of effort that has been put in this video is absolutely insane. Litrally I honestly think this is legitimately the most descriptive well put informative guide I have ever seen on any hero let alone a tracer. Seriously great job dibs should be proud of yourself you're going to help a lot of people out :).

    Already 2 huge tips...counting 3 seconds on recall to use it as a surprise flank, then pulse bombing next to the grav to affect everyone and prevent body blocking the pulse damage 😮😮😮

    Really great work, can really tell you put a lot of time and effort into making this guide. A lot has happened throughout the seasons in Overwatch so it's nice to see how some things are different and what has stayed the same. I can tell that this was a passion piece. Great job, Dibz.

    This is hands down the best Tracer guide I've ever seen. I can't wait for the 1v1 guide, I've been waiting for something like that on TH-cam for ages!
    A thought, I'm not sure how accurate this is, because I haven't studied it from the enemies' perspective but if you melee right before you pulse, it cancels the Pulse voice line and can make pulse bombs more unexpected in some cases.

    • @Dibz
      @Dibz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +Ah-Ha! Productions I think I'll be working on that 1v1 guide next, unless I start getting a lot of questions, then I might pop that top 5 question/mistakes guide first, but definitely they will be in the works!
      But yes, you can melee before you pulse, but that delays your Pulse Bomb from coming out right as you Blink. You can actually Pulse Bomb riiiiiiiiight before you Blink for it to come out faster, but meleeing kinda slows that down cause you have to be in melee range for the hit to matter. It depends on what you're going for, but both work!
      I would say for tanks, the blink->melee->pulse is better cause they're easier to stick (bigger), and you get that additional 30 damage from your melee. BUT, if you're going to stick a squishy, that melee doesn't matter anyway cause they're going to die from your Pulse Bomb, so it's just wasted effort in my opinion, and the squishier targets are usually harder to hit, so you want as much of the surprise aspect you can get to land them more consistently, if that makes sense.

    • @ah-ha723
      @ah-ha723 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Dibz Yeah that makes sense! Thanks for your input!

    Regardless of how with new overwatch 2 changes the character, most of this guide still applies to everything that i do, so thanks for making this guide, helps alot.

  • @AarPlays
    @AarPlays 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It's an old guide but here's MY tips for control schemes for tracer:
    1 - Bind crouch and melee to your mouse side buttons. This allows you to blink with right click and melee with the side button. This also lets you spam crouch without moving your thumb from space bar
    2 - Bind recall to shift. Recall is used MUCH more than bomb, and bomb should be hard to predict, meaning you should be blink bombing most of the time. Because of this Q for pulse isn't that big of an issue, what IS an issue is the time it takes for you to hit e from the d key. You will find yourself barely surviving more often if you use shift, since your finger is already there 90% of the time and the quarter second it takes for you to hit E from D is enough time for that cass/mcree to hit you again.

    I really cant imagine playing any game with a regular keyboard. if i play FPS games i always use my azeron keyboard. It comes with an analogstick for your thumb so i have effectively 4 fingers left to command other uses. For Owerwatch it may have too many buttons but that aint really a problem.
    I really apriciate the Pulse-Bomb tipps! I felt i was pretty good with tracer but each time i got my ult it seemed to fail miserably most of the time.

    You also don’t need to aim smoothly if your having trouble reacting to and predicting movement. Try breaking your tracking down into a bunch of quick little micro ficks. By quick I mean you should do your micro flicks immediately and consecutively. For people who don’t know what a micro flick is you can think of it as a small adjustment with your crosshair, for example when you play something like valorant you need to place your crosshair we’re people might be so if they peak you you only need to make a small adjustment(micro flick) to hit a headshot.

    • @KingIsish-yt6no
      @KingIsish-yt6no 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This works for some people but not everyone and it is much less effective than flat out tracking so this strategy should only be used if your still learning how to track or if your have an off day and are having a hard time tracking.

    • @KingIsish-yt6no
      @KingIsish-yt6no 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just as a reminder the different steps in order for this method of aiming are.
      1. Large flick to or placing your crosshair where your target will be
      2. Reajust

    I disagree with MOUSE2 for blinking. I did that for years and recently finally switched to SHIFT and after a suprisingly short time of getting used to it the difference is night and day. What Dibz covers in 'Blinks and how they affect aim' is so much easier with blink on SHIFT. After this I looked OWL players up and almost all of them use SHIFT too. Danteh even switched to SHIFT midseason (last season). *edit* great guide btw :)

    Hello Dibz - first of all: thank you so much for this clear and coherent in-depth Tracer guide! So much beneficial advice that motivates me to play Tracer even more.
    I just watched the whole video and something kept me wondering. Around 11:20 in the video your advice is not to jump too much, though, I've seen so many videos of highly skilled Tracers that jump constantly (dafran for example). Do you have a specific explanation why they play the 'jumping way'? Is it just a habit for them (well, I guess it fundamentally is), but it doesn't seem to be detrimental to their overall performance.
    I also followed you on Twitch and if you're live I will surely hop in for some good Tracer gameplay!

    • @Dibz
      @Dibz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Glad that you enjoyed it Evert! In regards to jumping, doing so mid-long range is usually bad, but in some cases, it can actually help you. As for Dafran and other Tracers, it may be because of the benefit, or it can honestly just be a habit (I sometimes do it a lot too and catch myself).
      The way that jumping is beneficial is the time that you are in the enemy's face and basically right next to them. If you are standing super close to a Widow/Hanzo for example, your head will basically fill up their screen, and their heads will fill up yours. However, if you jump while being super close to them, your head will basically "leave" their view and they will be forced to aim upwards in order to go for that headshot. Now, as a Widow/Hanzo or even just Hitscan in general, the change in location of your head is so drastic in such a short period of time, that when you jump, they will most likely miss the headshot. This is also a double benefit for you as well because you know for a fact that you will be jumping upwards, and in that case, their head will be lower than you in general - so you would just aim downwards to compensate for the change of location when jumping.
      This makes it easy for you to drill headshots, and harder for them to get headshots on you. Remember to do this when you're close, and not mid-far range, or else this won't provide you much benefit at all!

    • @NonJohns
      @NonJohns 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dafran does it because he aims better with it
      He's so good at aiming, the cons of jumping are overruled

    Very well done! Thanks new to this game, and Tracer seems to be one of the hardest to play really well. But the most interesting gameplay for me :)

    This guide is amazing and you helped me a lot🙏. Although I think my brein size pretty decent, my aim and mechanical skills suck. I can't kill even the easiest targets and I keep changing my settings. Any tips on improving these skills? I'm quite new on the channel

      I'm glad the guide helped out a bit! If you're having trouble with aim and mechanical skills, the best thing for you to do is to figure out what sensitivity works for you - this takes time, effort, and a lot of testing for YOU as a player, since this is highly subjective. One way to figure this out is explained in my aiming guide:
      th-cam.com/video/AvF57L6ytZw/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Dibz
      The important thing is to find a sensitivity that you're comfortable with, and then STICK with it. If you're constantly changing your sensitivity, your body won't build the muscle memory it needs to "fine tune" the aim and it'll hard to build that good aim over time. Hope this helps! Feel free to ask anything if you need :)
