They made more adaptations of it than that. These are just the two most famous ones they did. The 1986 one was actually a TV series, and is the best adaptation IMO.
The Toho one was popular, so they made a TV series which ended up being even better and was later shortened to feature length for home video distribution...
Can you try to do Ten Commandments (1956),Prince of Egypt (1998) and Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014) side by side please? I would really love to see the comparison!
Three, in fact (or four, if you count the 1902 Chicago stage musical with script and lyrics by L. Frank Baum himself and music by Paul Tietjens, as well as additional songs by other popular musical songwriters of the time): the 1910 silent short film The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the terrible 1925 silent film The Wizard of Oz (which was a box office bomb that disregards the 1900 book and 1902 musical almost completely, except for using the musical's score for underscore music in its original score, which doesn't survive AFAIK, but the 1925 film sadly does survive), and the 1933 Technicolor animated short The Wizard of Oz (which was the first adaptation to show Kansas in black and white and Oz in color).
The 1982 anime movie was own by paramount in America and the 1986 anime series was own by cinar and cookie jar in America while the 1939 film was by MGM and Warner Bros

It actually does look like it.
What do you mean? That was when movies were *movies!*
The Japanese must have really liked wizard of oz if they made two different animated adaptations within a few years from one another.

To say I’ve seen them all makes me feel old. xD
1986 version was the most accurate adaptation
Yeah the Japanese really like wizard of Oz that they made a lot of "transferred to another world" theme in modern anime
the original Wizard of oz 1939 is the most wonderful movie ever the ruby slippers are very beautiful
That's not the original.
There's no place like home
My 3 main OZs.
Cool, but where's The Wiz?
I think the 1982 anime featured the main actress from Annie.
It does! Aileen Quinn voiced Dorothy!
Music:Danny Elfman and John Powell(2003-13)
Lyrics: Stephen Schwartz(2003)
Directed by:Sam Raimi and Jon M.Chu

Ok
What about the silent version, also directed by Cecil B.?
Can you do The Mummy side by side comparison (1932/1999/2017)?
CB3474 how about the 1959 version as well
Ok
Could you do the wizard of oz (1939) vs the wiz (1978) please there are some comparisons
Ok
This was probably before he knew there was the 1991 version
1991 version was garbage, I'd have omitted it too...
The Best is the 1939
Fun fact there were two adaptations of this story before the Judy Garland version

@@TheRealJames76 I think the OP meant movie versions, though an argument could maybe be made for Eshbaugh's 1933 short.
