In the original the townspeople don’t hate Belle they just think she’s weird and Gaston is the one being rude to her. In the live action the townspeople give her dirty looks and act like they hate her and Gaston is the only one who makes an effort to be nice to her and she just is rude to him.
Well, in the original she didn't forcefully tear the goods from their hands or tried to dirty their freshly washed clothes so they didn't have reason to hate her.

I noticed something while watching this side by side. Animated Belle after she got the book she like barely took her nose out of it hence "nose stuck in a book" live action Belle didn't have her face in the book as much. One of the reasons why I liked the original Beauty and the Beast more.
The original town people had so much more personalities and it had alot of great comedy scenes that was cut out, like when the woman ask about the man wife who was flirting with her and the wife from behind hit him in the head or the scene where the woman is carrying the babies who screams she need some eggs 😂😂😂 the new one was boring and most the time they were just sharing up her in disgusted while the original town people was sharing out of curiosity
and that is only seemingly logical with drawn animation 😂😂😂 you all need to shut it. They have more emotion and personality for they are flowy and lively fake characters that can run in mid air and then relatch onto a ledge with a hook or be tossed into the air and land seemingly slower with a gentle touch and click of heel by a handsome beast. This is not so easily done in a piece with actors instead of created lines of character drawn to perfection. Get a hold of yourselves you children, you get enough luxuries don't complain about them

Emma Watson is a good actress in her own right. But I don’t think she was a good choice in playing Belle. She didn’t have the character in thought while portraying the role, or even show the enthusiasm that was supposed to be there, particularly about books.
belle is supposed to be immersed in her book while walking around town bc she finds the book more interesting than the "same old town" which makes the people think she's peculiar. I think it wouldve given more personality to the character. also, the original was much more humorous and does more storytelling of the lives of the villagers in a subtle way. i just wish the live action paid more attention to the little details T-T
Also something I like about the og, they have the villagers in muted earth colors. And bell is the only person in bright blue which makes her stand out. In the remake the dark blue doesn't. Also other people are wearing blue as well. Which doesn't help. I liked that og detail cause it just shows how different she is from the town. (The only person wearing blue)

She had a motivation flaws energy and a personality. They ruined her by making her a “girl boss” that’s what they keep doing to modern female leads. It doesn’t work.
Wow, I didn't realize how much the cinematography paled in comparison to the original. The animation had better camera movement/angles, and each frame had to be HAND DRAWN! Seeing them side-by-side like this, the remake looks static and boring. There is either nothing going on or too much, and all at the wrong moments. Also, I'm really disappointed in the remake's color palette. In the original, Belle was purposefully put in a blue dress to make her stand out against the brown/warm background and townspeople. In the remake, it literally felt like Belle was fading into the background during the final moments of the song. There was no contrast, nothing visually to make her different from anyone else. And I'm sorry to all you Emma Watson lovers, but her performance during this whole sequence was lack-luster. She looked bored the whole time, even when reading her "favorite book." Also...Disney...c'mon. You couldn't spend the extra time to find someone to cover for Emma for the songs? You just HAD to auto-tune and make her sound like a knock-off GLaDOS? Seriously! At least with her songs, they're SUPPOSED to sound like they're sung by a robot! And if you think her singing isn't up to par to not record without auto-tune, hire someone who is and just have their voice be official. She already had to lip-sync while filming anyway. Just...you're better than this cash-grab of a remake, Disney.

1991 Belle at fountain with sheep is the scene that always makes me cry, sadly that was cut from 2017 & replaced with Belle washing clothes & teaching a young girl to read (plus it would sound terrible with Emmas voice) Also her iconic ladder scene at the library at the 1:47 was changed - she takes a book from the empty ruined church (I know church was tied with education back then, but that interior looks too plain) - we got a glimpse of ladder scene much later in the 2017, when she gives books from shelves to the Beast. She wasn't the only one wearing blue - so she just blended in 2017 with the rest of the village... And Emma is more doing a recital. Belles songs are among Disneys hardest, behind Ariel only. Emma who never sung before simply didn't fit. I would forgive Emmas casting if they hired another singer to provide singing voice + to made yellow gown more baroque accurate. She is the most controversial of all live action girls... If she wanted that much to be a part of the film, she could have starred as a mute enchanted object. I like them both, but the original library scene should’ve been kept as it is. I genuinely liked that scene, it gave Belle more character and also set up that her and the librarian had an actual bond, that they where actually friends. And I know they probably removed it because of time, but honestly the whole “book to different place” thing did just bring on more questions than answers. Ok so we know what happened to Belle’s mom now, but why didn’t the beast use the book to find the witch and try to get changed back? Why is he so stuck in the castle if he has a magical “go anywhere anytime” book? Emma Watson is an intelligent person, her acting is not bad, but not enough to carry a solo leading role of a movie. Belle is supposed to be a person who is eager for an adventure, living in her own world of imagination, "her nose stuck in a book." The movie fails to develop this important aspect of Belle's character. She rather looks like a hot-headed young person who dislikes everyone in this town and wants to make a revolution or something. Also, I think the remake version has a problem in cinematography. For example, there are so many people appearing in the remake screen, and yet the original version looks much more lively and dynamic. I think the remake is trying to put too many things in scenes and hence distracting the audience. It seems like they don't know what to focus on, and maybe thought "well, let's just put everything that looks pretty." In conclusion, the remake version is a lesser descendant of a great animation.
It is WEIRD that in the live action, everyone is so focused on Belle when she's just walking by. In the original, Belle is READING THE BOOK while walking by, making her look odd, thus the crowd noticing her. They lost the whole point of her being odd.
I wish they had done the same thing as they did with Cinderella. They had used a unknown actress and had a new take on the plot but still loyal to the story of beauty and beast. I’ve never watch the 2017 because of this and I can’t stand Emma Watson.

The thing I just cannot stand about these live action remakes is the fact that they’re missing the soul, life, and energy of their original counterparts. For Beauty and the Beast, the 1991 movie (which is a masterpiece) is so bright, colorful, and energetic, while the remake feels so bland, dull, and monotone (especially the Beast’s servants). Trying to push realistic visuals when they're supposed to look magical will never work.

If you check the scene of 91 very2 carefully you'll notice belle as her head in the clouds all the time, causing trouble sometimes with out even notice, so her actions make her see odd and peculiar
I do enjoy the movie, i just dont like it and it disappoints me, i like how you can see how it actually looks as real life. i just hate the acting of bell, the singing, the dress, and the less effort was in it. i enjoyed the furniture and the magic and all that french culture, its just not that good ☹️

Sometimes it is fun to compare and see how some scenes line up, but unfortunately, only one of these scenes was good, that being the animated version. If it was something like comparing scenes from The Last of Us game to the TV show, it would be a lot more fun because while I still prefer the game overall, the show did a great job recreating most of the best moments in the game. They unfortunately, didn’t do that great of a job here.

I didn’t like how in the remake they made belle constantly look away from the the book instead of being immersed in it like the original which gives the character more personality. Like the townspeople in the remake said she had her nose stuck in a book but belle was looking at the people instead of the book and closed the book

Emma Watson is an intelligent person, her acting is not bad, but not enough to carry a solo leading role of a movie. Belle is supposed to be a person who is eager for an adventure, living in her own world of imagination, "her nose stuck in a book." The movie fails to develop this important aspect of Belle's character. She rather looks like a hot-headed young person who dislikes everyone in this town and wants to make a revolution or something.
Also, I think the remake version has a problem in cinematography. For example, there are so many people appearing in the remake screen, and yet the original version looks much more lively and dynamic. I think the remake is trying to put too many things in scenes and hence distracting the audience. It seems like they don't know what to focus on, and maybe thought "well, let's just put everything that looks pretty."
In conclusion, the remake version is a lesser descendant of a great animation.
It is WEIRD that in the live action, everyone is so focused on Belle when she's just walking by. In the original, Belle is READING THE BOOK while walking by, making her look odd, thus the crowd noticing her. They lost the whole point of her being odd.

I wish they had done the same thing as they did with Cinderella. They had used a unknown actress and had a new take on the plot but still loyal to the story of beauty and beast. I’ve never watch the 2017 because of this and I can’t stand Emma Watson.
Sadly, I am as well. I kind of blame the director/s for Harry Potter since they liked Hermionie better than the beloved Ron and I believe that got to her head.

The thing I just cannot stand about these live action remakes is the fact that they’re missing the soul, life, and energy of their original counterparts. For Beauty and the Beast, the 1991 movie (which is a masterpiece) is so bright, colorful, and energetic, while the remake feels so bland, dull, and monotone (especially the Beast’s servants). Trying to push realistic visuals when they're supposed to look magical will never work.

i feel like they did so much more with the angles and position of the pov in the animated version than with the live action, really added to the song and setting and was very engaging. and not to mention the awful singing in the live action. am i being old fashioned? somehow the actors in the live action film were imo worse than the actors in the animated version

If you check the scene of 91 very2 carefully you'll notice belle as her head in the clouds all the time, causing trouble sometimes with out even notice, so her actions make her see odd and peculiar

Sometimes it is fun to compare and see how some scenes line up, but unfortunately, only one of these scenes was good, that being the animated version. If it was something like comparing scenes from The Last of Us game to the TV show, it would be a lot more fun because while I still prefer the game overall, the show did a great job recreating most of the best moments in the game. They unfortunately, didn’t do that great of a job here.
