@DistantCoder: one of the correct answer you give with the rulling question was incorrect, it would not have interfer with Dzeff because he answer it wrong either way. I copy an paste strate from the rulling page of yugipedia "Slifer the Sky Dragon" is targeted by "Shrink", after its ATK becomes half of its original ATK, its effect that causes its ATK to become the number of cards in your hand x 1000 is applied once again, and the ATK ends up being the number of cards in your hand x 1000. Also, even after the effect of "Shrink" wears out, the ATK is still the number of cards in your hand x 1000. Furthermore, even if the number of cards in your hand varies, the ATK varies according to the number of cards in your hand. When you told the correct answer you told the rulling for megamorph.
I was literally about to comment on this. Shrink targets the original ATK, and the text on the card clearly says it "gains 1000 ATK/DEF for each card in your hand", not "Original ATK becomes x1000 for each card in your hand".
It is funny since TheDuelLogs Duel Logs has a Yugioh Trivia show which occasionally also includes rulings and the Twitch chat lifeline has always been correct in every time it is used.
I looked for Rulings on Slifer Vs Shrink and this is what I found: If "Slifer the Sky Dragon" is targeted by "Shrink", after its ATK becomes half of its original ATK, its effect that causes its ATK to become the number of cards in your hand x 1000 is applied once again, and the ATK ends up being the number of cards in your hand x 1000. Damn, the new layout looks great! Very fun vid, really well put together. Only have a lil constructive criticism: Idk if they got edited out from the VOD or not, but some more thorough explanations on why certain cards worked the way they do in the rulings would be v much appreciated. Some were explained really well, and others were more just "doesn't work that way", and I was left curious as to why. They may have been edited out for length which I do get though. And the only other thing, I just kinda wish the cards' text was more readable! The popups with the relevant text on screen was super helpful, but there were some questions, while trying to guess along with the video, I wish I didnt have to look up the card to read it haha. But yeah, yall outdid yourselves this time. Excited for the rest of this season, super happy to see this series back!!
I have to really call out the second question Shrink interaction. The ATK gain is a continuous effect, exact wording "Gains 1000 ATK/DEF for each card in your hand", not "this card's original ATK/DEF is 1000 * the number of cards in your hand". Rulings on cards like Jester Lord, Ra, Wiracocha Rasca, The Tyrant Neptune, etc. with the same wording state that Shrink only changes the original ATK from 0 to 0 but then the ATK gain via their effects is unchanged. Why would Osiris be different from these cards with the exact same type of effect?
Unless it's a translation error from the Tcg, shrink only sets the ORIGINAL attack to half of itself, not the actual attack. Slifer isn't negated, so its attack gain effect should still apply. It should logically have 4000 attack
@@emilianoflcn that's how it usually works when an effect sets the current Attack to a certain value, but Shrink changes the original Attack to half, which is just 0. When the original Attack is set to a new value, other effects that increase/decrease are re-applied based on the new original Attack. Slifer should stay at 4000 in this scenario.
I love that you're now giving yourself the time to point at every card as you ask the question so now I have the chance to read them on the video, I previously had to google some of them in a separate window in order to follow what was going on. This is much more enjoyable, congratulations to you and Mr. Editor!!

actually the shrink ruling is wrong, since shrink only changes original attack, slifer's original attack will be 0, then its continues effect re-applies and its attack becomes 4k again
It's actually not, 'though There's a specific ruling with Shrink and Slifer that states his ATK will drop to 0, but then immediately spike back to whatever his effect allows it to be. It then goes on to say that it retains this attack after Shrink wears off, implying that the former all happen while Slifer is affected by Shrink This doesn't just apply to continuous effects either, as a nearly identical ruling can be found with Ra. I believe Shrink with overwrite effects that *set* ATK to a certain value (there's a lot of rulings for that), however Slifer and Ra both *gain* ATK from their effects. It would also hypothetically overwrite cards that gain Original ATK, but to my knowledge all cards that adjust Original ATK set their Original ATK rather than gaining it (such as King of the Skull Servants)
@@yurazah Either that or there's a ruling difference between TCG and OCG, however I can't think of any way that attack change rulings are different. @@yurazah for that specific ruling, yes, he's wrong. An activated effect that sets the original attack to a new value does not prevent increasing/decreasing effects from working. He confused the shrink interaction with Megamorph, which sets current attack to a new value, instead of original attack.
Wait I'm mega confused on the Shrink why would changing Slifer's original attack result in its current attack changing at all when Slifer's 4000/4000 comes from its effect "Gains 1000 ATK/DEF for each card in your hand." So before the Shrink, Slifer has 0 original ATK and 4000 ATK added by its effect, Shrink halves 0/2 = 0, Slifer's effect still gives it 4000 ATK. What am I missing here?
If "Slifer the Sky Dragon" is targeted by "Shrink", after its ATK becomes half of its original ATK, its effect that causes its ATK to become the number of cards in your hand x 1000 is applied once again, and the ATK ends up being the number of cards in your hand x 1000. That final attack orders ruling is basically the reason why bottomless trap hole can destroy a don zaloog if mystic plasma zone is on the field, but slightly less intuitive because turning the card vertical feels like an action that should start a chain in a way that adding 500 ATK doesn't
Yo Coder you should put bigger image of card effects for us to see the effect of cards because probably some of us want to do these questions on our own
The last question was so simple, it's an if effect, as such, it triggers on a new chain, meaning for all intents and purposes the alpha was never in defense
you say the last one is simple but....I've been versus people who state it doesn't because it wasn't in Attack position on summon (then again I've had people who have the cards/effects cannot be activated when this card is normal summoned mean that you can't activates cards/effects for the rest of the duel so make of that what you will.)
A technical explanation of slifer's wink can be inferred from damage step procedures, which apply continuous effects during or because of each substep b4 allowing that substep's activatable effects to be used.
I was playing MD last night and my opponent was using every effect at their disposal to out my Kikinagashi fucho despite it being unaffected by card effects. They even tried to dropplet it TWICE 😂 they passed 3 turns without attacking over it even though it had no materials left on it 😂
So the Vanity's Ruler ruling I knew about because a similar situation with Guardragons occurred where People would summon Majestic Star Dragon and claiming it would remain on the field because Stardust isn't in the GY to activate its effect. If it's a mandatory effect it will activate, whether it resolves fully or not is irrelevant in the sense of mandatory activations
An easy way to think about "Unaffected" monsters vs. "Opponent cannot target for attacks" is that we don't target for an attack first, we select a monster to attack with first. Once we choose a monster to attack with, then we choose an attack target, so if we select an unaffected monster to attack it can target the un-targetable. I honestly got that one wrong due to the "Opponent cannot target" phrase, I figured it affected the opponent, so I came up with that explanation 😆 Yet another lovely Battle Phase exception!
I recently learned about the unaffected monster vs Aqua Argonaut/God Slime style monster and was hoping Dzeeff would get it. Def tough tho. Great video again, Coder!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but would Slifer not have 4k/4k under Shrink? Shrink only sets the original ATK and DEF of a monster, it shouldn't affect any other stat modifiers on top of that That and the OCG database mentions this interaction specifically. It says it drops to 0 and then gains ATK from its effect, and it then goes on to say it gain ATK from its effect once Shrink is no longer applied, which implies that it had already gained its ATK while the effect of Shrink was applied. I don't really see how this situation would be different in the TCG
Wtf happened in question 2? From the ruling section of Slifer in the Yugioh Fandom Wiki: "If "Slifer the Sky Dragon" is targeted by "Shrink", after its ATK becomes half of its original ATK, its effect that causes its ATK to become the number of cards in your hand x 1000 is applied once again, and the ATK ends up being the number of cards in your hand x 1000."
Fun fact: I knew the answer to question 3 because I had a scenario similar to this with controlling Crusadia Maximus and Geomathmech Final Sigma where Crusadia Maximus' effect makes it where only Maximus can attack but since Geomathmech Final Sigma is immune to card effects except for mathmech cards then Geomathmech Final Sigma can attack along with the Maximus
Thoughts on adding a way for people to get back points? Maybe like a bonus question on some of the setups that gives half a point back, if you’ve lost any?

Wait I'm mega confused on the Shrink why would changing Slifer's original attack result in its current attack changing at all when Slifer's 4000/4000 comes from its effect "Gains 1000 ATK/DEF for each card in your hand." So before the Shrink, Slifer has 0 original ATK and 4000 ATK added by its effect, Shrink halves 0/2 = 0, Slifer's effect still gives it 4000 ATK. What am I missing here?
It changes its attack to half of its original, which is 0, and locks it at that value for the rest of the turn.
It changes its ORIGINAL attack to half of the original. The current attack isn't locked.
If "Slifer the Sky Dragon" is targeted by "Shrink", after its ATK becomes half of its original ATK, its effect that causes its ATK to become the number of cards in your hand x 1000 is applied once again, and the ATK ends up being the number of cards in your hand x 1000.
Shrink only sets the original ATK and DEF of a monster, it shouldn't affect any other stat modifiers on top of that
That and the OCG database mentions this interaction specifically. It says it drops to 0 and then gains ATK from its effect, and it then goes on to say it gain ATK from its effect once Shrink is no longer applied, which implies that it had already gained its ATK while the effect of Shrink was applied. I don't really see how this situation would be different in the TCG
OCG vs TCG rulings as always
Nothing to correct bro
You should get the cali effect on one of these shows with shaddolls!
He didn't even bother using the lifelines lol
Wtf happened in question 2?
From the ruling section of Slifer in the Yugioh Fandom Wiki:
"If "Slifer the Sky Dragon" is targeted by "Shrink", after its ATK becomes half of its original ATK, its effect that causes its ATK to become the number of cards in your hand x 1000 is applied once again, and the ATK ends up being the number of cards in your hand x 1000."
Dzeef doesn't know his conjunctions. This rulings quiz proves it.
Hah Yugi you’re monster had dirt in it’s eyes and blinked on summon so it missed timing, fool! -Kaiba I guess
Part of me is hoping for "Does MBT know WIGHT rulings?"
I love the idea of slifer pulling a Glock on its enemy
It's nice of you to provide a single lifeline to your contestants
i love these videos! So much fun to watch :)
I thought the pendulum mechanic was that the card when returned face up to the extra deck was considered to have passed through the GY
YES MY FAVORITE SERIES LETS GOOO
Slifer Blinks *loading barrel dragon*
Monster: I’m in Danger!
If “WHY THE BA NO DIE” isn’t in a Farfa episode I will be sorely disappointed 🤣
Dzeeff and Coder what more could I have asked for
Doug keeps falling for the trap questions, last season is Faker's "except during the damage step" and now it's mandatory effect
I missed this series :)
Edit: the last explanation was on point :D
Yoooo
I was just rewatching the old episodes
So if flamvell firedog destroys a trap monster on the field and sends it to the graveyard you dont get the effect either?
