Skiing The Funnel of Death Couloir On Bow Peak

Skied The Funnel of death on Bow peak a couple weeks back. We skied it from the top down and came up around the backside instead of boot packing up it. Conditions ranged from blower powder at the top to icy sections and avi debris towards the bottom. Stoked to tick it off the list!

You know how a camera adds 10 lbs. Well it also looses 20 degrees on ski slopes. I took pictures of the double blacks at Lake Louise and it didn't capture the depth.

I love how you timed it for the shadows! Good idea checking it out on belay, I once triggered a cornice fail here, one step between the rocks, and a very long fracture.

How high would you rate the avalanche conditions were? Looked wind loaded to me the first entrance.

Spring diernal conditions no avi forecasts where being put out. Our main concern was warming but we didn’t feel like the top section was loaded otherwise we would have put in a ski cut while roped up.
