I don't know if this will make a difference, but I got my Silver Vase almost 4 years ago, it was flowering when I bought it. I didn't know what it was called for a long time but by the time I did, the flower was long gone. Once I figured out what she was, I did a lot of research, which all pointed me in the direction of removing the pups. I never had the heart as she is my absolute favorite plant. My main plant is still alive, she had several pups, I didn't know that I was supposed to cut them away at the time she had them, so they've just grown along side of her. She's still alive and well. I am assuming she just never got the memo that her time was up. I don't plan on removing her pups, and hopefully because of this, she will be around for years still.
I just love silver vase plant everytime I see one I feel like I could have lots of them 💕around.i have one in my house bought it recently when I look at it I just feel happy 😊
Im glad you're doing well too, its great to hear from you! And I totally agree now I jsut need to plant a tree and my bromeliad will have the perfect new home...
Allright now I can't stop watching your videos and after I got my first plant which was a money tree 2 months back I now have 8 plants since then and 4 of them are bromeliads.. my quill plant is red and orange looks pretty cool I want that pink one though.. hi-way nursery on transit in Lockport has a bunch but they only had 1 left and it was looking rough so I'm still searching
Hey there im super late to this comment but thank you so much it really means a lot to hear people enjoy the videos! It sounds like your collection is growing a lot I hope they are all doing super well for you!!
I've had mine for 4 years, bought it when it was flowering from a grocery store. I've had 5 or 6 pups from it, 1 was successfully transplanted and 2 or 3 didn't make it. The last 2 have been attached to the mother plant for a couple years and everyone is doing well! I don't let the soil completely dry out and often forget to water the vase. I'm doing everything wrong, maybe that's the trick to keeping them alive lol The pups attached to the mother are more then half the size of her whereas the pup pup isn't nearly as big and is 2 years older!
I don’t think there is any one way that’s perfect to care for plants it sounds like your is doing amazing! I always have a hard time detaching my pups from the mother too I just like to leave them on there like one big happy family 😅

I will keep this in mind and try the same. Thanks! Btw, does she keep giving new pups?
Same question! 👆🏻
The mother plant will live until it gives up. You'll know when it turns brown.
I actually just got the same exact plant, and I'm so in love
Small world! They are so pretty especially when they are in bloom!

My daughter just gave me one. I was wondering about potting. Do they like tight spaces or close roots?
How will it react to air conditioner draft ?

How do you propagate the pups
A bromeliad that has a bloom has reached its full lifespan. Don't expect it to grow anymore. But it will or can put out pups.
My silver vase has suuuuch long leaves, why is that and do I need to trim them? Is this normal? I swear the longest leaf is 2-3 feet!
Very informative but I recommend you play at 3/4 speed :D
Thats good advice I am a hopless fast talking new yorker 😂😂😂
I live in Florida and bought mine outside and probably watered it wrong and it died 🥺 I want to get another one but kind of scared she’s GORG!
My plant seems to be dying and drying out
