Brutal display of power from this guy. He's not only able to catch all the ebb and flow from that piece, but also translate it to his own language...Wonderful!!!
O my god!! he was playing Chris's bass lines and Patrick's solos at the same time. I am shocked that he was able to capture these blistering cascades of notes, the dynamic shifts, and the solos, while keeping the emotional through-line. This was essentially a note for note rendition of an insane piece of music written and played by five musicians!!!
One of Yes' most under-rated tracks IMHO, from an under-rated album. In terms of musicianship, I think Relayer is my top album. A one-off record, with that unique line-up of Moraz and the fab four. ...And I wonder how many notes this guy has memorised in 9 mins?
Wow! I`m utterly blown away. An incredible version of Sound Chaser. I was mesmerised from the first note to the last .I`m sure if the guys from YES see this they`ll be shaking their heads in disbelief, and I mean that in a good way. Indeed, YES music will still be interpreted for many, many years to come.
I'm applying to some linear accelerators to see if they can help me crack the lyrics. CERN still has my copy of the Relayer CD, they say they'll get back...
I know this was posted 13 years ago, and I'm not sure that Stephen is even still with us, but this is pure genius! I will say there is a little boy on TH-cam that plays part of South Side of the Sky, and would give this video a run for the money
Wow...one of those rare videos on TH-cam that makes you wish the sound quality was a hundred times better. Rachmaninoff would surely have been proud of that performance. (And I like to think he'd have been a Yes fan, too.)
Sound Chaser is my favourite Yes composition. Congratulations Mr Prutsman on your stunning arrangement and performance. You've certainly captured the polystylistic density of the original.
2 observations, in order of importance: 1: Ha ha! Pruttsman in Swedish roughly translates as “Fart-Man”. 2. Amazing rendition of this complex masterpiece. Probably one of my top 3 favorite renditions.
Freaking sensational bro!!! You nailed it!! One of the most challenging pieces Yes ever did and you did the whole thing magnificently on the piano!! Incredible!!!
This a fantastic artist ! Patrick Moraz couldn't do better ... This is the best rendition of Yes I have ever seen, even considering Rick Wakeman... It must be a great honour for Yes to see their music performed like this. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video !
I bet I've watched this 200+ times in the last few years. I've known this song like the back of my hand for over forty years, this guy just *nails* it. All of it.
If this doesn't show the collective genius of Yes...I don't know what does. And strangely worth more than the sum of their parts. Kudos to Mr. Prutsman for his abilities and recognition of a great piece to pay homage to.
Phenomenal, hearing it this way makes me realize how beautifully complex this song is with all the amazing chords and key changes, not to mention the obvious speed and intensity of the composition.
I saw Andre Watts perform Rachmaninoff's Concerto # 2 in C minor for piano and orchestra today with the Quad City Symphony and he was absolutely incredible. This guy, I have never heard of is in turn absolutely BRILLIANT I love this song and could have never imagined it being so complete on one instrument. Bravo Sir!
Unbelievable!! I´m completely astonished... Never thought I´d ever see this whole song with complete arrangements in a piano only version. Congratulations and cheers from Brazil!!
Stephen, I want to know, after the ecstatic rush that must overcome you toward the riotous climax of this piece --- how on earth do you hold yourself together to tap that exquisite little final note?!?
Totally fascinating to watch, very nice transcription, despite some parts not capturing the clarity and beauty of the original, but jeez, for a solo piano, this is a dynamite performance! Bravo!
At 5:44 he appears to be mouthing the words " Trance of Dances " - at which point I was reduced to tears . I become a little emotional when I witness the performer becoming one with the instrument they are playing and the music .
I greatly appreciate the effort that went into this and it really shows the Lisztian Romanicism in the composition. What a time that was. I know exactly where I was when we un sheathed the album from the celophane all those years ago. Still, my favorite from that album is the second half of To Be Over. "Don't doubt your part, be ready to be loved."
Brutal display of power from this guy. He's not only able to catch all the ebb and flow from that piece, but also translate it to his own language...Wonderful!!!
Cha, cha, cha … Cha Cha!
O my god!! he was playing Chris's bass lines and Patrick's solos at the same time. I am shocked that he was able to capture these blistering cascades of notes, the dynamic shifts, and the solos, while keeping the emotional through-line. This was essentially a note for note rendition of an insane piece of music written and played by five musicians!!!
Dont forget alans parts
the whole YES on his fingertips !!
Ok, I'll watch it, now.
A whole orchestra in two only hands...but, such hands, with such a brain...
Geezus! Who would a thunk?!!
This guy is unbelievable. Sound Chaser is just undoable on the piano, but this man pretty much did and nailed it ! I'm so fucking imressed !
Agreed, never thought I'd see the day.
One of Yes' most under-rated tracks IMHO, from an under-rated album. In terms of musicianship, I think Relayer is my top album. A one-off record, with that unique line-up of Moraz and the fab four. ...And I wonder how many notes this guy has memorised in 9 mins?
Probably Alan Whites best album too.
Agreeeee!!
Yes Sound Chaser is Crazy EVEN by YES Standards ...and SO Beautiful
Not sure I agree it being underrated. Every write-up I’ve seen about the song rates it extremely favorably.
Yeah, like Relayer is an 'underrated' album - lol
Wow! I`m utterly blown away. An incredible version of Sound Chaser. Magnificent!!
UNBELIEVABLE!!!! It's like no he didn't. But YES he did!!!!!! love love love
OH MY GOD. THIS SHOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE.
Not until a tune like this is transcribed to piano, you begin to realize the complexity and construction of the original.
I'm applying to some linear accelerators to see if they can help me crack the lyrics.
CERN still has my copy of the Relayer CD, they say they'll get back...
😅

Fred Child featured a piece by him recently on Performance Today on PBS radio
AND he does the Howe solo to boot. Amazing.
Wow...one of those rare videos on TH-cam that makes you wish the sound quality was a hundred times better.
Rachmaninoff would surely have been proud of that performance. (And I like to think he'd have been a Yes fan, too.)
As no doubt Ginastera would, as well.
How could anyone put a thumbs down for this great extraordinaire?
This is one of my dad's distant cousins! How cool to see him here!
Fantastic! It sounds as if this song was written for piano. Thank you for giving my favorite song the proper treatment. What an incredible tribute.
Sound Chaser is my favourite Yes composition. Congratulations Mr Prutsman on your stunning arrangement and performance. You've certainly captured the polystylistic density of the original.
Normally i ask about sheet music.
In this case, I prefer to ask for his fingers.
I ask for his brain. Holy shit!
What can one say? This is one of the most incredible piano performances I have ever seen in my life!
The playing is remarkable, but what I love is the interpretation.
Clearly, this fellow loves the music.
Mind blowing.
The intro was written by Patrick and Alan during Patrick's audition.
Not bad.
2 observations, in order of importance:
1: Ha ha! Pruttsman in Swedish roughly translates as “Fart-Man”.
2. Amazing rendition of this complex masterpiece. Probably one of my top 3 favorite renditions.
In Dutch it means something like a man who does everything wrong ;-)
Freaking sensational bro!!! You nailed it!! One of the most challenging pieces Yes ever did and you did the whole thing magnificently on the piano!! Incredible!!!

This is an awesome rendition/interpretation of Sound Chaser. Totally blew my mind. ☼
Shows us great example of how 'symphonic' YES music truly is
First, bravo to the musician, Stephen Prutsman.
wow. just, wow.
Fantastic! Waiting for his next interpretation of a Yes song! Such a strong left hand.
I bet I've watched this 200+ times in the last few years. I've known this song like the back of my hand for over forty years, this guy just *nails* it. All of it.
My first reaction was: NO WAY NOWAY NOOOO NOWAY. OH GOD!
If this doesn't show the collective genius of Yes...I don't know what does. And strangely worth more than the sum of their parts. Kudos to Mr. Prutsman for his abilities and recognition of a great piece to pay homage to.
So great to have transcribed this song with the vocals on piano !!
You are a virtuoso !!
Bravo
wow, superb, Mr Prutsman! Absolutely first Class!
Absolutely mind blowing. Brilliant. Astonishing. ❤ There aren’t enough superlatives to describe this performance.
Phenomenal!! I never dreamed this song could be transcribed for piano, and so faithfully, and beautifully played. Where can I get the sheet music?!
You'd need a quantum computer to crack dude's brain. Nobody wrote anything down, I feel confident in assessing.
It's all inside.
Wow! Absolutely incredible performance.
Simply amazing....!!!! What a great interpretation . Genius...
I still can't get over this ..........Also shows how inventive YES really was
Phenomenal, hearing it this way makes me realize how beautifully complex this song is with all the amazing chords and key changes, not to mention the obvious speed and intensity of the composition.
Bravo Mr. Prutsman!
Wow! What an arrangement! This album was a backdrop to my high school years. ...among several others.
Wow a true piano master!!! Love it.
Beautiful rendition, compliments!
I keep coming back to this, again & again for years.
This is an amazing interpretation.
Its been years since I’ve commented on this Masterpiece, but I find myself coming back to this performance, just superb work!
This is the best piece of interpretation of Yes music I have ever heard. Sir, you are completely awesome!
Bravo Sir!
Utterly amazing and unreal...... :-O
Absolutely amazing.
Stephen took the most difficult piece of works by YES and made it his own, he NAILS IT BEAUTIFULLY!!!!
Unbelievable!! I´m completely astonished... Never thought I´d ever see this whole song with complete arrangements in a piano only version. Congratulations and cheers from Brazil!!

A great find and an exceptional performance! Thanks for sharing.
Stephen, I want to know, after the ecstatic rush that must overcome you toward the riotous climax of this piece --- how on earth do you hold yourself together to tap that exquisite little final note?!?
UNBELIEVABLE
I forgot to breathe ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
What a mind blowing arrangement! The tension and release you created reminds me of something Leonard Bernstein would have created.
Stephen, this is amazing. Your interpretation takes the song to a whole new level. Bravo. And keep at it... all the way!
Focking Brilliant!!!!!
Reminds me of JFJO.
Thanks for Posting.

This may be the most remarkable musical performance I have ever seen. I hope this gets to the guy playing this piano piece. unbelievable
