C-5 just isn't the same anymore. Loved watching them take off from Dover AFB in the mid eighties. That's when they wore the dark green camo.

It's just been pointed out to me from a still shot - there is a crew man standing through a hatch in the roof of the C5 from when he starts taxying to when he gets down to the Tower!
Once again nice vid, favorite part of growing up in western mass is listening to the loud screaming sound from Westover C-5's but it ain't the same anymore. They sound more like pax airplanes.
Thank you. That is the difference we on the outside all see between the C5-M and the older C5-A and C5-B aircraft, the newer aircraft getting the General Electric F138-GE-100 (CF6-80C2) engines over the well loved TF39 turbofan.

I do miss the TF39s. But the new engines do give it increased range, increased thrust, increased payload, and shorter takeoff distances. So all I can say is, they are more efficient and just better. I know it’s not what WE WANT (since the scream did make it unique), but it’s what the BIRD NEEDS. I’ll love this giant no matter what. I hope to fly this thing if I get assigned to AMC if I get a rated slot.
I sure miss the TF 39 engines being on theses planes.

Although they sound better to us on the ground, I am sure that the crews and engineers would prefer the reliability of the newer engines.

When the loadmaster loads 2 m1a1 battle tanks and gear I’m up to maximum weight already the newer have this power , I’m needing 8,400 feet to get off the ground. Same cargo new engines almost 2,000 feet shorter THEIR IS NO COMPARISON. Despite the sound is less then the sound of an A or B version it's still an impressive plane, nice video.

The old TF39 engines are way better the newer engines are a piece of junk
The new engines are 500% better than the TF39's but they need to bring back the old C5.
