Cheers & you are welcome! Your eBay shop (stores.ebay.co.uk/Radio-Control-Bits-by-rc-bitz) is an excellent source of scale stuff in the UK :-) Just registered on www.scale4x4rc.org, so hope to meet up IRL at the next LSTR event!
Nice work nice and clean job. I am going to have to re order all these bits as I managed to really destroy them the first go around. Glad I stumbled across this video of yours..
you so a great service for all us enthusiasts! ! question : can I use rhe stock bumper for the rc4wd warn winch or do I have to use another type for it to fit? thanks!
+Noah Schechtel Hi Noah. You should be able to mount the RC4WD Replica Warn winch on the stock bumper (as in this video): The screws that mount the winch to the mounting plate are much wider apart on the RC4WD winch than the 3Racing (31.5mm compared to about 26mm), but that is still plenty of space to fit a cut-down mounting plate on the flat center section of the stock bumper. Good luck with your install :-) BTW, if you have already chosen the RC4WD winch thats cool, but remember with a 3Racing winch you can fit the LockedUpRC free spool upgrade, which rocks!... th-cam.com/video/cpIVCLZmbkg/w-d-xo.html
yea, thanks for info... I chose RC4wd because of its aesthetics, as I probable won't be testing its full strength with the trails I will ride. Thanks again . your work is great!!! This is my first crawler build. I am heli and plane hobbyist.
i really didn't like your parallel battery connector, how do you protect the second plug from a short circuit, when only running one battery? i would have chosen another type of plug.
Hi Troels. You asked "...how do you protect the second plug from a short circuit, when only running one battery?": Simple answer is that there is nothing in the truck that will touch it to risk a short circuit (everything is insulated and tied down), so for normal running (not in water) it is fine. But for running under water with a single battery I have a Deans connector with a sealed up end (no wires) to cover the exposed 2nd connector (otherwise it 'fizzes' in the water and the metal of the contacts erode!). Take a look at my "Water Torture" video and you can see what I mean.
Hi Gustavo. The front bumper comes with the SCX10 2012 Unlimited Rubicon kit, but I think you can get it on its own: www.axialracing.com/products/ax80125 (the matching rear bumper is AX80126).
what does it take to operate this winch? Do you need a second battery aside from the main battery? I had intended to pick this one up and use the 3rd channel on my Futaba. But is there more to it than that?
The 3Racing winch controller comes with a Tamiya style battery connector that you need to supply power to; this can be a separate battery pack if you like, or you can use the main pack on your model (but you will need to buy or make a splitter). The winch controller is rated for an input of 6V-7.2V (but I have heard of some people running them on 3S LiPo and that's 11.1V!). I am running my winch off of my 2S LiPo (7.4V) main battery and it works fine. Hth :-)
Great work on the modification and thank you for the kind mention. Hope to see you on the trails soon.
