My wife said I can’t hang out with you anymore Leon. You’re costing me far too much money and I spend all my free time now playing with all my gear and recording and not as much time with her... I’ll help the wife pack and be over in a half ‘n hour!!! ✌🏼 Another great gear video, thanks!
@Leon Todd I absolutely love delay in certain applications. Especially the way Nuno Bettencourt used it in the song "Am I'm Ever Gonna Change" from the album III SIDES TO EVERY STORY.
i've watched a few '5 favorite algorithms' since ordering mine. this is the only video so far where the sounds actually sounded great. thanks very much.
Dear Mr. Leon Todd. Thank you for the detailed videos. Most of us do not understand exactly what each knob does, and explaining them really helps us create the perfect preset. I really think you should do an episode dedicated specifically to the UltraTap algorithm. Give us a walk-through on each knob. For example, that "spread and taper" bit caught my attention (as I'm sure it didi for many of us), but that "Slurm" demo blew my mind! Highly suggest you do a video on this algorithm in great detail, as you seem to understand it well! Keep on rocking' sir!
@@LeonTodd nice! I initially wrote off a lot of them and stuck to my favorites for so long but man all of the H9 only ones are solid turns out. I never even considered using it for drive/fuzz tones. Now I have a bunch of presets using them. Hardest part for me is only using 1 and wanting it all over the pedal board.
H9 & FM3/AXEFX 3 together is pretty much everything you would ever need for approx 1600 bucks, not bad! Use the reverb/delay on H9 to save CPU space when creating heavier presets on FM3 when needed.
Great video LT. I’ve been an Eventide fan since the 80s. Have an H9 and an H9000. As a fellow fractal freak, an added plus is you can midi in your H9 to your AX8 and have the H9 do different things on a scene by scene basis. This is how I have my live setup and its an excellent compliment. Eventide Algos are kind of unique the way they’re bundled.
Leon Todd love the H9000, it has the majority of the H9 stuff plus so much more its insane. Most home studios including mine wouldn’t take advantage of 1/4 of the power and routing the H9000 offers, but man its really awesome to use in a session. I also own the Anthology bundle so if I’m using my 8 stereo effects busses (insane by itself, how many reverbs and delays can you possibly use in one song?) I always have the plugins too.
PitchFuzz is glorious: it’s suuuper versatile and each part of it sounds stellar. You can do things like shimmery delays that melt progressively (with one delay line set an octave above) , or Jack White like Octaved fuzz riffs with some ambience slapback DLY... the example here was not my fave but hey.
Great tour that helps demystify what is an always fabulous but often daunting - for all its variability - pedal. And a further question I'd love to see you cover, what's the secret to successfully using the Hotswitch? Many thanks.
Thanks Leon. I love your "Haitch Nyne"" algorithm review. These are super inspiring videos for people new to Eventide. Hopefully you will soon be tired of your flashy "Haitch Nyne-Tee" and will give us a couple more algorithm videos for the old H9... You know, for old times sake. Apart from its Fuzz effect, the Pitchfuzz algorithm seems to have the similar pitch shifting abilities as the "Micropitch" algorithm (AKA Van Halen's Balance album), but adds even more options for pitch and delay on top of that(?) If that's true, it's a VERY versatile algorithm.
Is there a way in the H9 to globally turn the Mix down from 100% to something reasonable while running through the presets? Most of Eventide's FX are wayyyy over the top to run even at 25%. Regards.
Great videos Would be cool if you did a video or videos on getting a specific song effect that's unique with H9. Like Summer Nights Van Halen or Little Guitars.
Eventides vary slightly as the years passed. They have an instrument level section and many of the algorithms are instrument level. 4000-8000 series added a tremendous line level collection. Italo left the company but continued to release some of his favorite libraries, which have been the highlight of the collection. www.italodeangelis.com/it/FX_processors_libraries/ You remind me a lot of Italo, where you understand the process of controlling the algorithm, and your reinterpretations on Fractal format are always enjoyed and appreciated. Good morning Leon, please consider Broon’s Bane, it would be delightful to hear you interpret Alex Lifeson’s music. I know you’re a fan of that era. 😜
I learned a lot from Italo's posts over on TGP, although the nature of a text based gear forum meant that his obvious passion and conviction rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. The preset's he's made that I've heard are absolutely top tier. Broon's Bane - you know me too well!!!
Hi Leon, I’m using the H9 myself and after re-watching this video, I’m just wondering.. how did you route the pedal ? into the front or in the effects loop ? Thanks in advance
the h9 core i recently purchased doesnt have an access to add more algorithms??? the purchase from the app was removed??? please give other ways of adding algorithms. ty
Hey, you cannot run multiple algorithms on the same H9 device. That’s the main reason people run multiple units on their board. Some algorithms have multiple effects running simultaneously (e.g. harmodillo, spacetime, most of pitchfactor).
I tried their acoustic strings. I liked them for the first three or so days, but then they went dead just like non-coated strings. I went back to Elixir nanoweb.
@@LeonTodd I just bought one of these second hand. It's an H9max I have no idea how many algorithms are on it or if I have to download to it. Do you know how to do that? Do I need a tablet?
Today's video is bought to you by the letter haitch.
1! 1 milliseconds reverb!
2! 2 milliseconds reverb!
3! 3 milliseconds reverb!
Ahh ah ah ah ah!!!

11 months later and it’s still nice to go back and check out the ultra tap flavors you had going on lol
Love your H9 videos. You essentially have the lockdown on deep diving into some of it.
Glad you like them! I've been toying with the idea of doing a series that covers every algorithm. Only another 35 or so to go :p

Amazing. Those clean delays and reverbs were pristine. Great vid sir.
that "Crunchstation" has that "I cant dance" tone I've been looking for years

what's your signal chain to integrate the H9 with the AX8? is it in front, in the loop? Would you share? thanks!
@@mauriciogaribay8438mine is in the loop, personally. It can of course be wired a multitude of ways.

In front - in fact everything was in front with this video for a change!
