Onya, mate Had a trip to Melbourne with the Mrs, for her work. Stuck in a hotel with a no so smart TV with not much to else to be doing Found your channel and watched every upload from the beginning to the most recent You seem like a good guy, mate So keep doing what you're doing and stay as you 👍🏻 It's a good feeling watching a guy with knowledge sharing his experiences for the sake of teaching and I'm sure for you to continue to explore the innovation etc It's a good little thing you're doing, mate
Thats Awesome, thanks so much for letting me know. Im wrapped your enjoying the content. Countless hours goes into the channel every week and i base the content on helpful stuff that viewers have asked for, so im really pleased when people find it helpful and entertaining. Thanks again !!
Hahahaha "Alan's on Again!" then fumbles the ball and drops the fish over the side. Sorry had a chuckle Mate. Nice work on those plastics and they look like they will last a bit longer... :)
Hey Alan. Love your work as usual. Might give these munroes a shot. I recently ordered some curltail worms off temu, super cheap. Haven't had a chance to try them, but would love to see you give them a shot ... Could save a lot of money!
Awesome, ill be keen to hear how your experience is with them. Temu have written to me on many occasions wanting to send samples but I haven't really entertained the idea, so do let us know how you go.
Yep, that was me for sure. Always feel free to come over and say hello. I spend a lot of time meeting and chatting with other local anglers. Hope to see ya out there soon
I've been thinking about importing some Z-Man Finesse WormZ from America. I can't find them in Australia but they look really promising for this style of fishing
Zman sent me some about a week ago, they look really good. I just haven't been able to do extensive testing with them yet but the initial results looked very promising.
Howdy, I reckon grass whiting get a bum wrap as an eating fish. I've got a spot down the Otways I always get feed, catching them on half a scrubby. They love them. Filleted and crumbed they go really well as a feed. King George of course are superb but grassies or blue arsed whiting are good fanging
@@fishingmad I think their name contributes to the stigma. They don't eat grass but hide amongst it. They chow down on the same tucker as the king George. Haven't tried the half scrubbies on the King George yet. I use a double paternoster rig, light sinker, size 4 - 6 long shank or circle hooks with some glow beads and sleeves. Worth a try and cheaper than plastics when you know where to source them.
Yes, the Vanfords are awesome and pair perfectly with Zodias Rods. The Stradics are also great too, Vanfords are lighter in weight and have a great drag sound
I have the Zodias 7' 2-5lb Ultra Light paired with the vanford 1000 it's a great ultra light set up, I also use a 2500 Stradic on the Zodias 4-8lb set up and it's also awesome, so what ever you do you'll be happy 😊 all the best mate
Its one of the berkley collapsible nets, they are great and light weight, Its best to see them in tacklestores as the websites don't do a good job of the size guides. I also use the Shimano environets.
I use 1/12 in 1/0 with an assist running on them with a small hook. Watch this vid which shows the exact setup about half way through th-cam.com/video/flPqbfnnMsY/w-d-xo.html
I get 95% of the catches on the assist hook and I've caught hundreds of whiting on plastics. trust me it makes a massive difference. I don't bother using assist hooks for any other species.
If u want to have fun catching whiting try using some zx blades you will be surprised how many whiting u will catch slow constant roll bream and fkattys don't mind them either
Thanks !! I will give that a go for sure. A few weeks back I tried the new TT blades on them and caught a few but not as many as the plastics so ill give them and the ZX blades another go again.
I made a turtle black worm out of Moulding plaster, put it on a floor tile and put it in the oven to harden it. after it was hard i let it cool, then built a box around it, filled it with Moulding silicone, waited a day and demolded it leaving me with a perfect top pour turtle back worm Mould. now i can pour may own costing me around $5 for 50 worms, use on whiting just like this. also found the drift speed has to do with the grass whiting they seem to like a bit faster drift the grass whiting

Yeah, my mate said exactly the same thing fishing 2 days ago. he couldn't believe I was releasing them as he said they are excellent to eat aswell

Thanks so much, its greatly appreciated !!
Those Munroes are worth a try for sure. Aussie made too.
Yep 100%
I’m buying a shimano zodias rod to pair with my stradic on Friday! Also are the shimano vanfords good reels?
Yes, the Vanfords are awesome and pair perfectly with Zodias Rods. The Stradics are also great too, Vanfords are lighter in weight and have a great drag sound
@@fishingmad yep the zodias rods feel really nice super lightweight in the hand same with the vanford.

great vid, new to fishing, what size are those hooks?

@fishingmad they sure are good. Pretty much everything will eat one! Love those C tail worms!
Yes they are good! Always great to explore different products, brands and profiles too.
Thanks Alan 👍
When you get poked by a flatty - if you rub the wound on their slime for some reason the bleeding and pain is greatly reduced
Yeah right I’ll give it a go next time, cheers mate😂
Alan, just wondering about your hook up percentages. How many fish do you hook on the assistant hook as opposed to the main jig head? Ta.
I get 95% of the catches on the assist hook and I've caught hundreds of whiting on plastics. trust me it makes a massive difference. I don't bother using assist hooks for any other species.
Fiddly job, but made up half a dozen jig heads and assist hooks. Will see how they go! 🙏
Mate could you tell me best fishing spots melbourne not that far into city going today
Albert Park, Yarra, Docklands, Maribrynong river are all close to the city and have good volumes of fish

Wow that's a great idea making your own mould, and yeah I agree about the faster drift theory too

a quick clip of the Moulds and a top pour
Old trick when a flathead get you is to rub the spot on there skin
Yep 100%, that's exactly what I did afterwards. Thanks
