BAKA: The Wisdom of the forest

This movie was filmed in the Baka village of Nomedjoh in the East Region of Cameroon. As the title suggests, it chronicles the lives of Indigenous Baka people, some of whom still live exclusively in the forests. CBBM hopes this movie helps you recognize the effectiveness of indigenous conservation practices, which have contributed to preserving 80% of the planet's biodiversity and represent one-third of the solution to climate change. This is made possible through their knowledge systems and sustainable methods of using, managing, and administering their territories. Around the Dja, CBBM collaborates with numerous Baka communities to support their self-determination through community conservation, Indigenous protected area management, and livelihood support programs.
