"Not One Security Incident Directed At India's Diplomats, Afghanistan Not A Playground For Powers"

  • Kabul: In his first in-person interview in Kabul with an Indian media platform, Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban's Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan(IEA) in conversation with StratNews Global(SNG) Associate Editor Amitabh P. Revi. SNG's reports in Afghanistan have been filmed by Video Journalist Rohit Pandita. Initial on-the-spot translation is provided by Abdul Qahar Balkhi, Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry of the IEA.
Acknowledging "India returning back to Afghanistan as a very good step," Maulvi Muttaqi tells StratNews Global, "it is predicted that consular services will begin soon. All of this is improvement and progress. We look forward to more assistance and more humanitarian aid from India as it has done before". The IEA Foreign Minister points out the significance of India "sending its diplomats, reopening the embassy and raising the level of representation. From the diplomatic standpoint, it is very important and it works to deepen the relations between India and Afghanistan. Your sending diplomats to the Indian embassy and us sending diplomats to the Afghan Embassy in India, this is the diplomatic engagement which will move us forward". Sources tell SNG though, that specifically allowing Taliban appointed diplomats in Afghan Missions in India will not happen in the short term but depending on developments it could happen sometime next year. The diplomats currently in India were appointed by the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, which fell on August 15, 2021, when the Taliban seized power. India continues its policy of engaging but not giving official or diplomatic recognition to the de facto Taliban IEA government.
On specific security assurances given by the very top of the IEA government, Mr Muttaqi says, "there has not been a single security incident that has been directed towards them(India's diplomats). As a responsible government, we deem it our obligation to provide security to all diplomatic missions and diplomats who come to Kabul."
Watch this exclusive interaction in Kabul for more of the Minister's statements on India's concerns on terrorism, independence from all outside influence, Afghanistan not being a "playground for the big international and regional powers", what the IEA will do if "evidence of foreign fighters or training camps" is given, "the Taliban's balanced foreign policy", the desire "to transform Afghanistan into the crossroads of connectivity for the entire region", and relations with China, Russia and the U.S.

This is a pertinent question which every Indian would like an answer from Taliban. I myself am an Indian Christian but i have always felt very hurt to see the condition of Hindus and Sikhs in Afghanistan. If only Taliban manages to provide safety for minorities then India will be able to help the Taliban in every way to govern and develop the economy of Afghanistan.

In my opinion, I see that it's not only Afghanistan, but most Islamic countries do not like minorities / other religions / "Kafirs". We can see how Islamic countries had persecuted minorities from time immemorial. Trace it back to Saudi Arabia, 1500 years ago when Paganism which was a branch of Hinduism vanished from Saudi Arabia, all idols broken and pagans wiped out of existence from Saudi Arabia because they were idol worshipers. Problem is that Islam never understood the real nature of polytheism. Sikhs believe in 1 God. Hindus believe in 1 God too. Those idols are different ways of reaching that 1 God. Also, we can say that there will be unity only in diversity and also there will be complete freedom of speech, expression, thoughts, ideas, religion, belief, etc. only when there are different people with different faiths and different beliefs within the same country. I strongly believe Humanity is a product of multi-culturalism and diversity. Freedom of Speech and Expression are top of the list. Progressive countries are creative and do not destroy anything. They think logically, analyze rationally and build their countries to a more great future. This is why we see Christian countries / Western countries have developed and modernised this world like nobody else. Because, they separated religion from state as that's the only way for scientific and technological progress.

Because Islam hates all non muslims. Admit it or not but it's true. Even in India, Hindus and Sikhs find it hard to live in Muslim majority areas.

The thing is, Taliban which was earlier involved in gurreila fighting is now struggling in managing state affairs. Majority of Afghans are now living under poverty. International aid is limited due to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan being designated as an illegitimate regime. My thoughts and prayers are with Afghan people.

Also, India must take steps towards rebuilding infrastructures and institutions in Afghanistan for the betterment of their people and Afghanistan must relay with India in security and strategic affairs for the region.

Not much of the world knows that in 40 years of Western interference in Afghan affairs- 2million Afghans have been killed&, the country badly destroyed & the people reduced to poverty. A proud people who for years have fought & won against the British. Soviets, Americans Powers and won but have never given up their liberty to any Foreign Power.
May the Almighty make their future life more fruitful & peaceful.

      See today's muslim population in
      Bangladesh: 150,400,000
      India: 240,000,000
      Pakistan: 244,923,000
If India remain undivided than today's indian muslim population will be 63.5 crore. Total population of muslim is 2 billion in world. So 63.5 crore muslim enough for muslim leadership to take over India.

Great work Mr Revi and Pandita. What I noticed was that the taliban FM refers to LeT member terrorists as foreign “fighters”. If that is not a mis-translation, that indicates how far these people should be trusted.

Amitabh Revi was asking questions with a lot of care, his choices of words said it all. Looks like he was little shaky, but however has done a good work at the end. World must not alienate Afghanistan and engagement is best for regional peace. Acceptance of reality would be better for all.
