It would AMAZING if you could show a video of a shorter person 5ft 2± doing this obstacle.

Focus on getting one leg up, and then you are 90% done.

I was so pumped during my first Spartan Race that I went to get over this I ate shit super hard because I jumped higher than I expected and could have cleared it if I didn't reach out and grab it. Learned my lesson and a couple bruises.

I did the same thing yesterday on my first race, think my left hand may be broken, or at least badly sprained from my fall on the other side of hurdle. Sneaky dangerous, watch out!

They make the hurdles extra extra high now. They are above my head. If I could post up on my arms like you show it wouldn't be a problem, but I can't get up there when the hurdle is over my head. Any ideas? I'm 5'1" . They keep making these obstacles taller and bars further apart and it makes it impossible to conquer at this moment.

Get one leg up and then straddle it like a horse.

I had this obstacle in Hawaii, but it was the size of a telephone pole, and it was raining. Nobody could get over it because there was no way to get your chest on top of the obstacle unless you were 6'6"+. I'm glad they went with a smaller sized pole now. Much easier.

What happens when you are a tiny 5 foot 2? lol. I needed a friend to help me out with this one. I need to find a high hurdle to practice on.

I would also like to point out that you don't need to take a running start at this obstacle. I've seen many people take a run at it, jump, their legs swing underneath, then they hit the ground... and often bang their heads...

That's exactly what happened to me on one that was like a telephone pole. lol

@@cakeies1 I don't think anyone doubts it can be done, more like what it would look like. I'm 5ft 6 1/2in and I really struggled. My no.1 lessons I learned during my first race: learn how to jump and improve grip-strength, lol.

    • @kcollings11

@@cakeies1 I'm not sure if my reply went through. Sorry if this is a duplicate. I would love any tips or how you train that allows you to get over this one. I'm 5'1" and I've been racking my brain on how to make it happen. Work on muscle ups? box jumps? air squats? If the bar was shoulder height or below I'm pretty sure I could get it, but it starts out over my shoulders, so it's sort of like a muscle up. Anyway, if you have any tips I sure would appreciate it. I really want to conquer this!
