    Swimming is one of the few types of exercise I enjoy. I only do it in the summer when it's hot, and my acne always improves during that time. My skin has improved a lot since I started watching your videos last year and I'm excited to see how this summer goes!

    Love the new transitions! I can definitely attest to sweat underneath clothing causing acne flares. So hard to avoid. And I’m embracing being outdoors more often too, which is fine because you made me a sun protection expert 😎

      @@orosco97 I love laroche posay anthelios 60 cooling water lotion. It feels like none other and absorbs so fast. Great for reapplications. I recently bought supergoop play and am liking it. Those are kinda pricey. I also love most of the neutrogena body sunscreens found at the local grocer or Walmart! Never burned once using those on myself and family! Oh and cerave hydrating mineral feels like heaven to reapply on my face at the beach, it’s cooling and soothing to my rosacea prone skin but it leaves a very strong white cast. Hope that helps!

      Update. Basal cell carcinoma. I needs to be cut out….it’s a tiny little spot. Anyone heard of Mohs surgery? That’s what my doc is going to perform. Love my Derm.

    • @nadab4750
      @nadab4750 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You are so smart get it checked. I'm glad it's not a melanoma Mohs surgery has a 99% cure for a spot that has not been treated before, so you'll be fine...thank goodness! Mohs surgery will make sure that no more surrounding tissue will be cut than what is absolutely necessary to keep you safe. This is especially important when it's on you face. Another good thing is that because you have fair skin your scar won't be obvious (or may eventually disappear) if you follow you doctor's intructions properly. Make sure you ask for prescription for some cream to help fade your scar. Sometimes doctors (and pharmacists) have samples to give you if you tell them you are "on a tight budget". Of course you know to wear suncreen every day (even inside), but make a point of contsantly reapplying it to the site of the scar, as then it will fade and heal better. Thanks so much for the update, you will be helping others by sharing your story.

    That Almay hypoallergenic fragrance free deodorant saved my armpits from irritation and itch due to contact dermatitis from fragrances( and essential oils) present in most of the deodorants on the market. If anyone struggles with armpit irritation and itch due to fragrances in deodorants, give this Almay deodorant a try.

    Even after an immediate, long, soapy shower, i can still smell "old chlorine" on my skin. I exercise in a pool and love it, but hate the leftover chlorine smell !

      Maybe try something pre-shower to mitigate chlorine smell. I know what you mean though, it seems to get everywhere. I try a light application of talcum powder for just a couple of minutes, then wash with normal body wash and moisturise. Oddly I also find that washing with aqueous cream instead of soap helps

    Could you do a video on skincare for people with chronic pain. Depending on the condition, it can lead to dry skin, rashes and this feeling of burning skin. I just don’t know what to do and am worried that having constantly dry skin, even when I try to take good care of it, will lead to a consistently compromised skin barrier.

    Just yesterday I was perusing Walmart's skin aisle and I saw the gold bond rich moisture, I thought this looks DR. Dray approved. I grabbed it and after my evening shower, I use the Hada Labo Perfect Gel while my skin was still wet, then after I used the gold bond mixed with urea cream for my body. The hypochlorous acid (HClO/HOCl/CHIO) anti-bacterial spray that I use is safe for the eyes. It is an ingredient in some eyedrops and dentists use it too. It can also be used on animals. Most other antibacterial sprays are not safe to use this way! The one I use is called Hydro-E and is made in Australia. It is alcohol free and doesn't sting.
      If unsure ask your pharmacist.

    I regularly swim at the indoor pool near my work. I slather my body in Vaseline Advanced Repair before I put my swimsuit on. It definitely helps to keep my skin soft and lessens the chlorine itch. After swimming, I rinse off (fragrance free Dove bar), then slather myself in Vaseline Advanced Repair again. My moisturiser, sunscreen and waterproof foundation protects my face. Before swimming I put a vitamin C hair mask on my hair and clip it in a high bun. I don't know whether the vitamin C ingredient does enough to neutralise the chlorine (if it's stablity is questionable), but at least the hair mask puts a physical barrier between my hair and the chlorine.
    For those who aren't good at swimming, just do some stretching, or "amateur water ballet", using some foam dumbells under your arms, or a pool noodle. When you don't have to worry about buoyancy, you can move your body anyway you want, upright, on your side, front or back. It's even better if your aquatic centre has a shallow, warm water gentle exercise pool.

      What waterproof makeup do you use?

    • @nadab4750
      @nadab4750 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amyfleck1427 Hi Amy, I use Ella Baché "Great Sunguard SPF40 (full/opaque buildable coverage). It doesn't say waterproof, but it is. It has a thick consistancy and covers everything. One tube lasts for ages, you don't need much to cover. It can just be used to cover spots and/or dark inner eye. They have changed the name & packaging many times since I started using it the 1980's as everyday make-up; I looked like a store mannequin!
      Ella Baché also have "Suncover Great Foundation" SPF50 4 hours waterproof. I haven't tried this yet, but it's next on my list. It has more of a natural look with light diffusing mineral particles. It does say avoid the eyes though.
      Ella Baché don't have many colours. Mid-price range.
      However, I also use a similar foundation that is cheap cheap 🐤🐥! It is the "Sace Lady Full Cover Concealer Makeup Waterproof". Use it all over as foundation, or just where needed. I buy it on eBay or Ali Express. Around AU $4! It only comes in a small plastic pump bottle, but it also lasts for ages, because it is so thick. I buy a few at a time, so I have bottles at work, home, car, make'up bag, swimming bag and back-up etc. I have also given some to friends who want to know what I use. I use this everyday (order: sunscreen, primer, Sacelady). Sace Lady have a larger range of colours. It's a fantastic cosmetic brand if you are on a tight budget, or are saving for something special.
      Very thick foundations are good on spots and dark inner eyes, but they look very aging right under the eyes, they make lines/crows feet look worse! So I don't apply it where my goggles sit. I have "Batgirl" style goggles (rather than the seperate oval ones).
      I use "Lily Lolo" or "Nude by Nature" loose mineral powder to set & mattify. I hope this helps. Any questions, just ask.

      If you aren't going to be in the sun for too long, wear a decent amount of broad spectrum sunscreen and also use a natural fibre summer scarf/pashmina loosely over your shoulders & arms for extra protection. You don't have to schlep around a jacket that way, and can just put the scarf into, or tie it onto your bag afterwards. I also keep a suitable scarf in the car for that reason. They comes in very handy if you are stuck in traffic on a sunny day, or can only get an outdoor table at a café

    Thanks for talking about prickly heat! I used to get such bad cases when I lived in the tropics, particularly on my nose and upper lip. Man, it burns! Contact with any liquid--water, sweat, moisturizer--was absolute torture. I really feel for little kids who get it. Need to find out if the Skinsmart spray can be used on the face and near the eyes.

      I spray my on my closed eye lids everyday because I get eye irritation. They have one for the face and eye area but I think Dr Dray said all their formulas are the same, just relabeled. Not 100% on that.

      The more dewy the sunscreen is, the more it reflects light off of any and all texture the skin. Choosing a matte finish, using a primer or applying setting powder would be best. Personally I use a more matte sunscreen to help reduce appearance of my pores.

    Hey Dr. Dray! I know this isn’t related to the video but I need help figuring out my exact skin type. For instance, I tried the cleansing method on how to find your exact skin type (where you cleanse ur face and wait about an hour to see how ur face feels, without any product). My results consisted of a regular forehead (not too dry or oily), flaky nose (not oily bit pretty dry), dry around the mouth area - (upper lip, bottom of lip, around nose (like near the cheeks). My under eyes looked wrinkly when smiling and felt dry too. However, during the day, my T ZONE area feels and looks oily, shiny. But my cheeks are pretty regular to minimal tightness and oily ness. But my cheeks are where all my acne is (around the side to side burn area). I never had a problem with acne until now, and my acne won’t go away!! It’s so stubborn!! This has never happened before 🤨 anyways, to add another thing that might affect my skin, I don’t drink a lot of water (maybe like 1-2 cups daily), I wash my face and take care of my skin once a day which at the end of the day feels oily when I glide my fingers through my face. I only eat two times a day really (oatmeal for breakfast and some greasy meal for dinner). I feel I might have combination skin (oily t zone and normal cheeks with minimal tightness). But I have no idea.. if you can help, that would be amazing, THANK YOU 🦋🦋🦋

      Salt water pools ARE better for your skin and hair; however, most salt water pools forbid the use of sunscreen. We have a salt water pool in our back yard, and I have to swim either in the early morning or late afternoon when the pool is covered by shade.

      @@vetsai8199 Thanks for your reply!
      I actually read my comment again and I don't know why I asked if salt water pools are better. I know they are!
      You are lucky to have one :) But having to go in without sunscreen really sucks. Have you thought about getting a rash guard? I saw some cute UPF 50's on Amazon.
      Also is a salt water pool more expensive to maintain? I am moving to a house with an indoor pool that I dream of converting into one

    I have contact dermatitis due to my sweat. I cannot wear things that rub on my skin. From clothes to jewelry. I have to wear loose fitting clothes that are breathable. Jewelry must be loose and preferably plastic or beaded, no metals. Otherwise... a walking hive rash and at times blisters. It is pretty bad.

    Hi Dr Dray, I wear sunscreen all of the time, I’m fair skinned. I recently was in the sun quite a bit but had sunscreen on and reapplied, a day later I noticed I have a rash on my arms and legs, it’s itchy, blotchy red raised bumps- what is this? I looked on line, could I be allergic to the sun? Can you please recommend something to help heal this? TY.
    Well wishes for your mom💕
