    So is this worth buying?

      Now that gapless switching has been added it is great solution for anyone wanting to dive into the Fractal world without getting the FM9 or Axe Fx III. Some users add a small FS to handle tap tempo or control the on/off state of certain blocks since there are only 3 footswitches.

    Awesome, what speakers do you use in a live/band practice situation with one of these?

      FX Return of an amp sounds good. I also have a Laney LFR

    This really sounds fantastic and is one of the most natural sounding modelers. The EQ shifting you did on the fly was impressive. Have you spent any time with this going direct to PA / FOH? I have a large pedal board and Marshall JVM which I love and is going nowhere, but for small gigs and jam sessions I want something portable. I really want to avoid having to use cabinets and extra effects. The FM9 would be ideal but it costs a fortune here in Australia. The FM3 Turbo is probably plenty, especially with potentially a couple of external switches. But I would need it to sound good through a decent PA to be worth it, hence my question. Thanks

      Every PA will sound slightly different but that can't be your concern. Any modeler will give you a great sound with headphones and studio monitors. If you dial in your sound to your liking on those then running through the PA should be a great experience. The FM3 is more than capable to do all you need and yes I would add another footswitch for extra control over certain options like tap tempo and tuner. Adding an expression pedal can open up more possibilities as well. Let me know what you decide and I can answer any other questions you have. Leon Todd is also an Aussie and uses the FM3 for lots of his live shows. Check out his channel if you haven't done so already.

    Hello, Doctor! I'm a huge fan of your HR prime guide videos. Of lately, I have been considering this new FM3 turbo. Right now, I'm using return of my Laney IRT studio going into my Orange PPC112 cab after disabling cab sims. I'm wondering if any modeller will sound better going through an FRFR speaker with different flavours of cab sims and IRs. I would really love your opinion on this.

      Honestly any modeler will sound great these days. I still have the Axe FX rack and FC12 FS but I sold off the FM3. Cool unit but I didn't like the limits it had at the time. Those limits have been fixed by the new gapless switching. I also have the Kemper Stage, Headrush Core, MX5, TMP and Helix. Flavors of IRs are fun but no one really does that playing live do they? You have one amp and one cab and that is your sound. Going FRFR does save you from having to bring an Amp and cab and just run direct to FOH so the possibilities are endless. But its also good to limit yourself so you can concentrate on playing and not having a different sound for each section of the song.

      @@DoctorMcFarlandStudios Wow.. what a great advice! Most people would have encouraged me to spend more on a fancy new gear but you saved me a lot of money by showing me how important it is to enjoy what I have. I appreciate that so much. Many thanks, Doctor! Cheers!

      I have lots of modelers for making videos but I am perfectly happy with the Headrush Core. I am not left wanting more.

    Pretty nice sound, I would hate to think what price these would be in New Zealand with our NZ $ only 60c USA,, Plus the import duty

    Hello, do you use any Global Settings to improve live output sound to boost any frequencies? I find that my FRFR speaker is drowned out by the rest of the band even though by itself its loud as hell? any suggestions please, thanx

    • @DoctorMcFarlandStudios
      @DoctorMcFarlandStudios  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Which FRFR are you using? Midrange is a guitar players best friend. I would test on headphones and make sure you are not scooping the mids too much.

      I’m using Redsound MF10/M. Where exactly do you boost the mids? Is it global settings-graphic EQ or in the Amp block EQ output page within a preset? Thanx for your help by the way👍

    • @DoctorMcFarlandStudios
      @DoctorMcFarlandStudios  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can do it on the amp but I am surprised you are having issues with the Redsound speaker.

      I’ve increased the global EQ settings (every adjustment from 26 -16k) and then the output EQ on the amp block within output EQ and I think we are getting somewhere now. Thanx for your help 👍

    • @DoctorMcFarlandStudios
      @DoctorMcFarlandStudios  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have a Boss Katana, Bluguitar Amp1 with Nano Cab and Quilter Aviator Cub. I would use the FX return when using a any modeler when not using a FRFR speaker.

      Of course it is. When they provide every option possible the possibilities are endless. Keep it simple like you would with a real amp and pedalboard. You can get fancy later.
