  • This is a muffler delete, not a straight pipe. There is a difference. A straight pipe set up means you don't have catalytic converters, or a muffler. My truck still has the cats on it. They are the oem cats.

    Good video i have allmost same truck mine is a 2000 f150 5.4 trition xlt with 33 mud tiers and 4inch lift and costom hood and grill and exhaust the only problems i have with her is coil packs i just replaced all 8 now she runs amazing love ford trucks man

    I have a 2002 with a full muffler and cat delete,sounds great deff recommend it if you have a 5.4

    Your basic cordless 20 volt impact gun puts at least 50 lbs of torque down ...so usually if you use an impact your good to go.

    Is it smart to put gasket maker in those bands so there’s no leaks? Or maybe I want the leaks for extra pop lol

    is it normal when small amount of water comes out of exhaust tip? just bought a similar truck & im new to trucks lol! especially fords,im 16 years old & would like to do this myself but i was just curious about the water. COOL VIDEO!

      All it is is condensation. As long as you haven't noticed any engine issues, then its okay.

    I'm definitely doing this to my 04 5.4 3v v8 fx4. Hey the water that shot out the exhaust when gun it, did that come from the old muffler holding water in it? Or it does it regularly regardless of straight piping. Mines does the same.

      The water is condensation. As long as it is isn't oil, or coolant coming out of the exhaust, it is fine.

      If a Ford doesn't have water or water vapor coming out of the exhaust. Than it's not running right. Every ford I have owned since the late 80s has always had water condensation come out of the exhaust.

      Yes. The best thing to do is measure the pipe before you buy a replacement pipe. That way you know the exact length, and diameter of the pipe you need.

      Butted up against it. It's a 3" pipe.

    Should I weld the pipe instead of using a clamp? because I don't want it to loosen while I'm off-roading

      That is up to you. Welding the pipe in place will hold it better than exhaust clamps will.

      @@bradleypumba Its a strap clamp. I got mine from NAPA, as well as the pipe. When you cut your muffler off, measure the distance between the pipes. The diameter should be 3".

      I got it from Napa. The whole install was less than $50.

    Does this make you fail emissions? Or the inspection check?

      Check your states requirements. Some states have age limits on vehicles. So, a vehicle so many years old is exempt from emissions in some states. But yes, a muffler delete with fail an emissions test. In some states that do heavy inspections, yes, a muffler delete will fail. But do look at your states emission and exhaust laws.

      thats what the cats are for...a rig with no cats will fail an emissions test
      in my state, rigs 15 years or older are exempt and no computer based emissions are needed and they dont even have to visually inspect it either

      A sawsaw with a metal blade. It's a pain but, it can be done. A grinder with a cutting wheel would work too.

      It should be the same, if not a little better. I haven't gone in a road trip, and anytime I've driven my truck lately it's been extremely windy.

      Look for exhaust band clamps. There are a few different styles. Go to your local auto parts store and ask about them. They should have them in stock or would be able to order them for you. Make sure you know the size of your exhaust pipe.

      @@legendeli2358 The inner and outer diameter is relatively close. Try to find a 2" clamp. A 2.5" clamp will work but, its best to go with the right size of clamp.

      @@thomassmith3951 A shop would do it more professionally, but to be honest, all they would do is weld it. exhaust clamps work just fine.

      I haven't noticed anything power wise, and I haven't noticed anything fuel mileage wise. I still get 18 - 20 like I did before the muffler delete.

      Removing a muffler causes you to gain horsepower because it provides less restriction on the motor. You do not lose horsepower by a doing a muffler delete. If anything you gain power

      @@bmxandskatingadventures8258 Yes. On the interstate or a flat highway with no wind, i can average 18-20mpg. With a tail wind, I've gotten even higher than that. In town driving I get about 13mpg. Not all trucks are built equally. Some get better fuel mileage, more power, etc.
