there's definitely an argument to be made about how trenches can lose you ground, but simply having as much goomba energy as you do cancels out any possibility of the enemy possibly using your own fortifications against you
@@spartan-1210 a badly built trench system can be easily used by the enemy as well as your own troops. many newbies who just figured out you can build trenches will spam them without attaching barbed wire or sandbags to make them ineffective if the enemy get's in. also, AI bunkers are usually just outright better if you're building next to a bunker base. it can provide allies cover inside the bunker without the enemy even being able to get in, and it still shoots at approaching vehicles and infantry.
This is why I just became a full time medic in Foxhole. My motto? “To heal and save the stupid and special.” Also, “we have shirts- We can kill” is great. Never doubt the brilliance of the stupid in a bad situation.
The “we have shirts-we can kill” reminds me of my time a couple wars ago (can’t remember which) where the province was surrounded, and we held on for 2 days with nothing but pistols, literally everything else was scavenged from the enemy. I had the same experience with some high-ranked dude when I was building trenches. He was all pissed that I was building defenses in a spot "his regiment claimed"... I pretended I didn't have a mic and continued digging. If his approach had been "hey man, love the effort and here's how you can do it better" I'd have listened. Just these assholes who have a holier-than-thou attitude because they put 1000s of hours into a video game rub me the wrong way.
I am 100s of hours in, yet even if people are brand new, go and offer them a seat in the vehicle or show around how to build, if they make bad defences/trenches whatever, its part of the learning process. Losing because you are having fun is better than winning without having fun.
It breaks my heart when I invite a new friend and they get harassed, I just want to have fun with them and it makes me feel like shit when they get yelled at because I know that can't be the best first experience
I think if it was just couple players doing it every now and then they would have this friendly attitude, but if you go to any front during any stage of the war you will find at least couple players digging trenches, every time, and about 60-70% chance they won't stop because their voice-chat is not turned on or they don't speak english or they just don't care and want to build trenches. You can look at it the casual way of playing for the experience or you can look at it the tryhard way of playing to end with results, winning the front, winning the hex, winning the war. Trenches are some of if not the least useful defense you could make and especially if spammed (as they nearly always are) get frustrating to deal with. It poisons the land for any builders to build actual defenses, it limits or restricts vehicle movement (usually for friendlies) and it turns infantry dynamic combat into grenade spamming and bayoneting because there is cover simply everywhere and take too many explosives to ever remove, especially because of husks. Not saying it justifies a shitty attitude, but you should understand it's not veteran's job explaining to every single new player why spammed trenches are bad and not every veteran that arrives to a front wants to undertake teaching a newbie something as complex as why not to build trenches or why fill them in, because they obviously will ask that question, whether you ask them nicely or not. It's the stereotype of newbie in this game, a Pvt digging trench after trench. Most don't approach them as individual players but just one of the many trench diggers that litter the front with garbage structures that will help the enemy as much as they help you now. You can't build on the front casually and be useful, that's just how developers made this system, either you plan it out and build with your regiment piece by piece or it ends up being a chaotic mess with number of weakpoints enemy can and will exploit, eventually.

Literally dealt with a situation like this with a different colonial streamer, he attacked my guys in the regiment verbally over a joke from him leading enemies to us and we died, then we made a comment while he was streaming and I was reported, later on we started digging foxholes everywhere and he started using his “streamer privilege” and try getting quite a few of my guys banned for griefing, streamers have no fun and are hella controlling in this game, attacking children for no reason, yelling at others but can’t take any back, and using their streaming power to get us mass reported

What a coincidence that I happen to be playing Foxhole earlier and dying from mortar fire that was seemingly like the act of god with how accurate and timely they were. I literally stopped in place to heal a dude for 2 secs and got a mortar round dropped directly on my skull killing me instantly. I had a suspicion it may have been a mortar house, but I've never had the chance to use them during the day to see their brilliance.
