GOD SAVE THE QUEEN/KING - BBC royal death announcements 1997-2022

Upon request, here is a set of four videos of the BBC announcing royal deaths starting with Diana Princess of Wales in 1997, followed by the Queen Mother in 2002, Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh in 2021, and ended with the very recent one for Queen Elizabeth II this year 2022.
The anthem's instrumental rendition from Princess Diana's is different from the other one which was used for the two Queen Elizabeths and Prince Philip. This means that the latter is used for 20 years.

BEFORE YOU ASK WHERE'S PRINCESS MARGARET'S, READ THIS PINNED COMMENT FIRST! IF YOU KEEP ASKING ON IT, NO REPLY!
Many people have asked this channel: Where's Princess Margaret's announcement? My answer to that is I have not seen any upload of that breaking news announcement with the British anthem until now. In what I see, there are no uploads of it on YT. This is the reason why it is missing in this compilation of royal death announcements.
If there is a video of the announcement itself with the anthem, you may comment the link here in this comment box. Thank you.

REAL leaders are chosen by the people in democracy. Not forced upon us by an outdated hereditary system that discriminates against every person that does not directly descend as an offspring from a monarch.
Real leaders are born with an innate passion to lead others and will be able to naturally grow into their role passionately and lead through parliament.
They are not born and then groomed throughout their full lives into a leadership role, which is forced upon the rest of the population to accept.

Thats the Queen Mothers standard flying, not monarchs/royal standard. Diana didnt have a standard - she was the ex-wide of the heir to the throne by that point. The Duke also had his own standard but not shown on this announcement. The royal standard shouldnt ever flay at half mast - as soon as one monarhc dies it becomes the standard for the next monarch.

To answer your question, Mr. Maxim, the late Queen Mother was obviously a queen, a queen consort to be specific, for being married to a King and have retained her title even after being widowed but have become a "queen mother" to be distinguished from her firstborn daughter who became just simply as "The Queen" until last week.

I'm English but my whole life up until the Queen's death, I never really cared about the Royal Family. None of my family were royalists so I just wasn't brought up fascinated by them (though I was never against them either, just had no feeling towards them either way). So even when Philip died last year, I didn't have any emotion about it. However, somehow after the Queen's death, I have suddenly become more interested in the Royal family and have been learning more about them as well as watching footage of the past funerals, weddings, etc.. Now seeing this video, surprisingly it was when Philip's picture was shown with the anthem that I started tearing up.

You should look up on TH-cam the BBC radio announcement of the death of King George VI in 1952.
I was almost 11 and was at home. My father was at work and my mother had the radio on. The normal programmes were suddenly interrupted by John Snagge, a veteran broadcaster with a deep, sonorant voice ideally suited for the occasion.
"This is London." Then a pause.
My mother sat down with a pale face and said "It's another war."
John Snagge then went on to announce that the King had died.
I think she was almost relieved. Having not so long ago experienced the deprivations and suffering of a World War (which my father fortunately survived) it's not really surprising. She didn't cry. She was too emotionally strong I think.
I didn't really react at all as far as I recall.
PS. I commented about this recently on another channel when I said that the announcer was Alvar Liddel. I was wrong.

We didn't really think much of it since I believe it was last year (???) when it was announced that the Queen had covid, but then she was fine. We was on a 5hr hour car journey to stay at a shit hotel because we was visiting some restaurant that was only open for two days, A " Unofficial Simpsons pop-up". A few hours later we went to the restaurant (bit of a waste of time lol) then arrived back at the shit hotel. Went into our room, Got unpacked at bit then turned on the TV and started to browse through the channels. I can't really remember all of the small details but I think it was about 5-half 5 when we decided to put on the BBC after remembering the news earlier about her being unwell. The exact moment we put BBC on her death was announced. We all just stopped what we were doing and just stood there stunned (we used to always joke about her being immortal) My dad put his hands over his face in disbelief and my sister started to cry. (My dad loved the Queen. He met her once/reviced a letter from her since he was a police officer at the time, many years ago.) I know this is long but it was such a shock especially if your British. I’m still crying. Not that this counts (unfortunately because she was of distant Davidic ancestry and considered gentile by that point), but if she were allowed to take a Hebrew name because of her love for the Jewish people (including the Messiah, Yeshua), she could take
      אלישבע
      בת
      גרשון
(Blessedly, her mother was possibly a Jewish Lyon. If “Lyon” was Jewish in her case, Queen Elizabeth could rightly hold
      אלישבע בת גרשון ואלישבע).

I’ll leave this here for anyone who wants to chime in with the retort; “what has the Queen done for you? Was she ever there for you when you suffered?”
Sod off. I lost my grandmother and great grandmother in 2013 and 2004, respectively. I watched my family grieve, along with myself. Imagine going through this and having the entire world watching, judging you, your loved ones and the person you love that has died. You can’t. It’s inconceivable. That’s what I’m grieving for. And I’m getting sick of people chastising me for it. You didn’t like her, great. I don’t care. And neither do countless others who are also grieving. So let them have their moments, let them wish the Queen a peaceful passage into her next life, with her husband, mother, father and sister.

    • @abbycollins
      @abbycollins ปีที่แล้ว +17

EXACTLY! Yes, she had her bad and controversial moments. Grieving over her does not mean that they don’t care about them, and even if they don’t, it still does not allow you to curse people out or be rude at people who are grieving over her or otherwise cared for the queen. They have their opinions, don’t attack them over them.
I stg, social media was a minefield that day. One of the only times I had to log off because of all the sheer negativity and flame wars…

I think some of the family as people are personally nice, for the me the queen being one of them, and I respect them and their words and actions. Upon the queen’s passing I was actually quite sad and perhaps in a bit of mourning as I did like her just as a human being and her, like everyone else, unique personhood that connected her to everyone. - but I can separate that love for them personally from the hate for the system they are forced and groomed into for their full lives. Seeing those nice people in all that luxury they are born into and attire they often wear is just… uncanny to me and it I cannot help but feel this abhorrent emotion from it as it segregates them as an elite other from everyone in society trying to get on with our lives.
The idea of a birth right to rule from a God that doesn’t exist negatively affects the general population and the wellbeing of the monarchs who feel pressured into the roles.

For Prince Phillip, I remember his death so vividly. I had been awake at least one hour my mother turned on Escape to the country on All 4 and then after that ended they said

    Its obvious Philip is dead
And then they made an announcement
The queens death I was just checking whether she had died on TH-cam and then the first one which said HM The Queen has died by sky and I was like
    OMG THE QUEEN IS DEAD
To my mother and I called my sister down so we could pay respects.
I never have experienced a death like that. The announcement was so sudden and I knew that she was going to die at 4 when I came in from school, I was oblivious to the fact she was ill all day and I got on my dad went

I was watching "Good Morning America" when Prince Philip died. They cut to the "ABC News Special Report" screen, and I thought to myself in that split second, "Who died?" In that split second when they announced that the message was from Buckingham Palace, my heart dropped, as I thought it was the Queen. Then they announced that it was the Duke of Edinburgh, which was just as sad.
For the Queen's death, I was going about my day as normal, albeit rather concerned for Her Majesty, given the earlier message, and then one of my friends announced to our texting group that HM The Queen had died. I then frantically looked at BBC and other reputable British sources to find out whether that was correct or not. When I found out that it unfortunately was true, I immediately changed to black and took down my flag. I've been rather emotional the last 12 days.
Part of me wishes that I could've gone to London or Edinburgh for the events there.

When the queen died I had just gotten home from work (I'm American) and I had researched months before what will happen when said event happens. I get home from work and see the news on my phone and I ran inside and turned on the TV. Never turned on the TV so fast in my life. It was weird for me to see the events as actually playing out.

Yeah prince Philip was 2 months shy of reaching his centenary age of 100 years and I can’t believe that prince Philip died two months before his birthday

I still remember hearing God Save the Queen when Diana died in the early morning hours. It totally gutted me, as if I hadn’t been totally gutted me when it was made official.

I met Diana, Princess Of Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 before she died...I was walking late at night time back from work...walking past a park in Central London...I saw this asian/Pakistan older person and looked a little closer and it was Princess Diana I couldn't believe it...I didn't go near her as there was 2 body guards walking around but she looked at me...I can always remember that

Ideally, better if they shown instead the flag in half staff. Maybe for the reasons of formality and regality.
