Hopeful The Fairy Kitten Some domestic cats are quite aggressive. You just lucky you didn't get one of those, I am pretty lucky too. My cousin though has a nice little orange tabby from a shelter that has gotten her hands all scarred. Big cats and domestic cats are derived from one ancestor and through time, we humans have bred and created the domestic cat which I'm sure they just used small cats to breed over and over and over. So yes, they would indeed eat us if they were bigger.
0FeloniousAngel Lots of interesting replies to this post. A few thoughts: (1)wolves and dogs are the same species (from a genetic standpoint) so comparing wolves/dogs and big cats/house cats is not the same. The house cat came from Felis syvestris, which is a small cat a little bigger than house cats, and it is believed that the African subspecies (which is more docile than European wildcats) was the one domesticated. (2) Would a house cat kill their owner if they could? I doubt it. They may not be as thoroughly domesticated as dogs (who have been domesticated longer than any other animal), but they are still domesticated and have an attached to their peeps. (3) Is it possible to domesticate a big cat? Theoretically, perhaps. Search for" Domesticated Siberian Foxes" and watch one of the fascinating videos. A few problems with domesticating big cats would be... most big cats are endangered or threatened, so finding the 1% who is least aggressive or fearful of people by nature would be harder if not impossible. It's even possible that those who would have been more genetically likely to be domesticated have all been killed off (since a big cat who is not fearful or aggressive when confronted with people is at a huge disadvantage in the wild). . There is also the genetic predisposition of canines to genetic change (via tandem repeaters and like mechanisms) which is why there is a huge variation in dog size but not much in cats.

Domestic being those that are happy to live with us and provide us useful products and demand nothing but food and water in return - ie cows, goats, sheep, horses, camels, hens, ducks and geese. +Lillian2167 What´s the problem with that? The person is dead anyway and will get eaten by maggots sooner or later. If a dog is confined with its dead owner for days without any food, it will it the owner too.
Cats sleep 16 to 20 hours a day!!! What the hell did my wife bring home from the shop two years ago! It certainly looks like a cat, but if he sleeps more than 6 hours a day we take him to a veterinary surgeon for a checkup. He just constantly wants to play, and never seem to tire.
This video is perfect. It has cats of various sizes, great editing, writing, camera work and great narration with just the right amount of sarcasm and dry humor. A true masterpiece.
I'd guess the only reason why housecats won't try to eat us is because we're so much bigger than them. As far as I know tigers don't hunt elephants either.
TheOnlyGBeast A bit, but we only started seriously domesticating cats some 200 years ago (some exceptions, like in Egypt) while we domesticated dogs tens of thousands of years ago. For most time our relationship with cats was that they lived "wild" around our farms and ate rats in our storages but they weren't truly pets. So they are quite wild but not quite as wild as big cats that haven't been domesticated at all.
if you do some research you'd know that Egypt is generally believed to be where they were domesticated(which have paintings of them that are around 3600 years old), and the animal that they descended from is the African Wildcat. However there are records of human-feline interactions far before that; in 2004, a Neolithic grave excavated in Shillourokambos, Cyprus, contained the skeletons, laid close to one another, of both a human and a cat. The grave is estimated to be 9,500 years old
Actually they do. They dont normally when there is plenty of other prey around but a lone hungry tigress in desperate need to feed her cubs would go definitely try her luck against an elephant
Yeah, and their bodies legs are like slings. I love to see my cat, preparing his jumps: First he aims for the target, then concentrates his power and then lift off!
+Tim Her-just go to Bing.com and keyword--Cat bites human or so...you will see thousands of photos of kids, men, women with wounds produced by house cats...Most vets will tell you too..Most attack wounds they treat on other pets are...from house cats..
+Tim Her Well by definition domestic animals have gone through artificial selection to make them more suitable as pets, so even if bigger, they would be less agressive towards humans, unless you imagine we'd make agressive breeds on purpose as "guard cats" or something like that. There would be more accidents, with more lethality, but they wouldn't be that agressive, or they wouldn't be domestic cats anymore, just big cats like any other wild cats.
Yes , but you got to understand to them they just playing around( which can turn deadly). I have a cat and a dog my cat constantly attacking my little dog til he be biting back lmfao..... It's show cats love to mess around and have lots of wild fun but just don't know when to stop haha....
My cat is friendly to me, but vicious towards mice and other small animals. It swats them around and basically tortures them before killing them. I always wonder. If I was mouse size, would that be my fate as well?
I love how the male lion and the white tiger were running beside each other at the end and didn't think of fight at least once. :D They would make lovely babies. ~
Besides, who wants a big cat that weighs more than you do in your lap? It'd squash you. Much better to have a cuddly little cat that only weighs a few pounds in your lap.
I love ALL animals, but cats are the best, no matter what size, color, or breed!!!! And I miss my late domestic tiger, Matryoshka, so bad!!!!! Can you meet your beloved pets in an afterlife? :)
a trick i would do when i was a teenager and i had to bathe my cat. I would but on a couple of shirts and jeans and put two towels in my lap and get into the tub with my cat and bathe him. He wasnt that jumpy
+Big Cat Rescue Since big cats are capable of attacking and eating humans, why don't domestic cats usually attack or eat humans, be they their owners or other people?
+Big Cat Rescue This is really out of context, but, who would win a fight between a full grown Siberian Tiger and a full grown African Lion.........I have been searching for this everywhere! plzzz give me your unbiased opinion!
+3333sweetie Well given that most house cats are rather small they would have a hard time taking down a human. I have heard stories on the news though where an owner has passed away and when their cats got hungry they ate parts of the body. I know its kinda gross.
Cata are the most beautiful, graceful animals. Their independant spirit is beguiling and it speaks for them that although they are different in size there is a tiger in each domestic cat and a sweet pussy cat in each tiger....Divine beeings...
Great video! Great narrator! I volunteer at Lions, Tigers, and Bears, an accredited sanctuary in Alpine, California. We have large (acreage) forever homes for big cats, too. I loved to see the big habitats and enrichment the animals had in your video.

Also there is only one boy and he’s very skittish and he’s so precious and sweet and you’ll always know when he comes in the room coz you’ll hear “Meeeewwww!” He has the tiniest voice I swear it’s adorable❤️❤️
+Tenable Piano just because veggies and fruits are not required for a cats diet, it doesn't mean that the cat won't eat them. Plus, kitties look so cute eating carrots.
i got a bobcat as a pet. It's friendly. The claws on this thing are very sharp. I finally trained it not to claw the funiture. I caught by feeding it in my back yard whole chickens and finally it start letting me pet it and then picking it up. So I decided to put it in the house. I hope it's not illegal to have one. She's cute as hell. LOL
I know you're making a joke, but in case anyone really believes it, I just want to mention that my mother passed away in her sleep at home and was found a little over 24 hours later. Not only did her two cats not attempt to eat her, they would not eat for days after her death, and showed other signs of grief for months. Cats are carnivores, but not cannibals, and if they have bonded to a human, they seem to recognize her as a fellow-cat.
Yeah actually there has been known cases where cats of passed away owners tend to go sometimes into depression and completely stop eating. It really depends on the personality of your animal. If it didn't give a shit about you, it probably will, just like any cat or dog would. However there are still many cases in which this does not occur, and rather the opposite happens!
your pet cat will not eat you if you are it's owner. They look at you as their mother/father. If anything, when you die, they will stay with your body hoping that you will wake up and pet them. Cats are very affectionate companions, they do not look at people as food, they look at people as being providers of food.
I've only heard of that happening when there was no one else around feeding the cats and the dead owner had not been checked on for weeks. The cats ended up eating parts of her body to keep from starving.
I love when cats do that thing where they look like they are hunting. They walk slowly thinking no one can see them. They're so threatening and adorable! 😂😂
I love how you used Cole and Marmalade in this comparison video for the domestic cat clips and it isn't a surprise considering it was their owner Cat Man Chris who presented the video when he worked there. Good video.
Is it coincidence that Chris noted that a lion's roar can be heard from five miles away, and then showed Marmalade (a domestic cat) squalling for his dinner? If you try to ignore a hungry domestic cat, you will swear that he or she can be heard from five miles away!

same with my cat, my cat spends like 3 hours asleep and 5 hours with me then the rest hunting mouses, rats and birds
Same story here he sleep 6hours max
Really, the only difference is size.
And the fact that the household cats have been domesticated for a very long time, while big cats have not for obvious reasons.
Do they taste different?
Try to play with a tiger to prove your point.
*Cats are strict carnivores* - me trying to explain to my cat why he can’t have my donut
This video is perfect. It has cats of various sizes, great editing, writing, camera work and great narration with just the right amount of sarcasm and dry humor.
A true masterpiece.
I'd guess the only reason why housecats won't try to eat us is because we're so much bigger than them. As far as I know tigers don't hunt elephants either.
yes, but house cats are also domesticated.
TheOnlyGBeast
A bit, but we only started seriously domesticating cats some 200 years ago (some exceptions, like in Egypt) while we domesticated dogs tens of thousands of years ago.
They dont normally when there is plenty of other prey around but a lone hungry tigress in desperate need to feed her cubs would go definitely try her luck against an elephant
tiger...don't. but lion could.
Another thing for smaller cats: They can't eat you, but they sure can send you to the hospital to get stitches!
House cats have the biggest strength to size ratio. They can jump the equivalent of a four story building.
yeah they're very strong actually... and they don't even work out or anything, just sleep the whole day :p
And OMG, do they bite and scratch! LOL
Doomedlion They don't even work out...lol
Yeah, and their bodies legs are like slings. I love to see my cat, preparing his jumps: First he aims for the target, then concentrates his power and then lift off!
Smaller animals do; just look at ants.
Sounds more like a human trying to make a roar sound 3:20
I love the way domestic cats wriggle their bottoms just before they spring on their prey and I’ve seen some big cats do it too in documentaries.

would domestic cats try and kill us if they were bigger?
+Tim Her Yes I would imagine so.
I love how you used Cole and Marmalade in the thumbnail and video. I recognized that derp face.
Years ago, Chris Poole was the videographer at BCR.
3:14 that s one of the cutest things I ve ever seen 😍🤗
i love CATS, any kind of them.
I love how the male lion and the white tiger were running beside each other at the end and didn't think of fight at least once. :D They would make lovely babies. ~
What's the difference?
House cats = Own You
Wild Big Cats = Eat You
I'd rather be owned.

sometimes I really wish to cuddle a big cats they r so cute but I know if I do I m dead instantly some guys can dot it and I envy them
Wild animals dont want human affection and they can easily attack and kill
My kitty just so happens to be the very best kitty in the whole wide world. I would say that Tigers are like my kitty.
Dogs are better (just my opinion
no, most likely not.
Aww Marmalade's meow is cute
a trick i would do when i was a teenager and i had to bathe my cat. I would but on a couple of shirts and jeans and put two towels in my lap and get into the tub with my cat and bathe him. He wasnt that jumpy
No explanations or comments needed the simple answer is YES.

AwesomeShelbiNicole I agree. But house cats KNOW that they're smaller than we are, so they do not attack us, right?
+Big Cat Rescue .. iz that the voice of Cole and Marmalade 's hooman
Cats. Always beautiful
Cata are the most beautiful, graceful animals. Their independant spirit is beguiling and it speaks for them that although they are different in size there is a tiger in each domestic cat and a sweet pussy cat in each tiger....Divine beeings...
Divine for sure! They amaze me!

That tiger chuffing at the other tiger in the mirror was just too cute.
Great video! Great narrator! I volunteer at Lions, Tigers, and Bears, an accredited sanctuary in Alpine, California. We have large (acreage) forever homes for big cats, too. I loved to see the big habitats and enrichment the animals had in your video.
Thank you for watching! We are a fan of Bobbi Brink and her sanctuary. We often work together in rescue missions.

Magnificent animals, its good to be a cat no problems to worry about that's why they sleep a lot
what if cat eat bugs..?? my cat hunt and eat cockroaches at night..
Oswald Rayleigh There is nothing wrong with that. Domestic cats are actually the #1 hunters of all cat species.
Oswald Rayleigh they eat lizards too i was surprised to see that. It was gross.
Mine use to hunt gophers and leave it right in front of the backdoor

"Sometimes they misjudge distances" - LOL too cute
Cats are very agile, but it seems they miss their target half the time. Good thing they have 9 lives.
Poor Cole's squeak was so cute and funny.
The difference is when a house cat bites you they immediately realise you are too big to eat. When a big cat bites you, you are a meal.
I have six cats! I love them all so much! They all have such different personalities! Grumpy energetic skittish floppy tuff and playful!
Also there is only one boy and he’s very skittish and he’s so precious and sweet and you’ll always know when he comes in the room coz you’ll hear “Meeeewwww!” He has the tiniest voice I swear it’s adorable❤️❤️

my cat ate a carrot once
+Tenable Piano just because veggies and fruits are not required for a cats diet, it doesn't mean that the cat won't eat them. Plus, kitties look so cute eating carrots.
True
+stephen dwyer You forgot puma/cougars...and no not all non-big cats are house cats, many like the ocelot and the jungle cat are wildcats
i got a bobcat as a pet. LOL
Its a big honour for us to see the eye of Tigers in our domestic cats
All big cats in one domestic cat 🐈
A common house cat would eat you if you died in your home. Just saying.
As would DOGS. In fact, some badly disciplined dogs will maul children to death. How's about that then?
"Oh yeah and big cats will eat you." Haha! I love this video.
I love that! "We're owned by cats!" SO true. Cats are family. :)
Family that DOESN"T SUCK!
3:39 that’s called a chuff it’s basically a friendly greeting.

I am proud to be owned by two house panthers lol.
I love when cats do that thing where they look like they are hunting. They walk slowly thinking no one can see them. They're so threatening and adorable! 😂😂
I DARE somebody to take a laser pointer and go to the zoo and play with the lions and tigers.
th-cam.com/video/x3BHSt42L0Y/w-d-xo.html
I love how you used Cole and Marmalade in this comparison video for the domestic cat clips and it isn't a surprise considering it was their owner Cat Man Chris who presented the video when he worked there. Good video.
Is it coincidence that Chris noted that a lion's roar can be heard from five miles away, and then showed Marmalade (a domestic cat) squalling for his dinner? If you try to ignore a hungry domestic cat, you will swear that he or she can be heard from five miles away!
I always knew that a cats tongue was rough in texture, I did not know that it was covered in stiff, barb-like hairs, that's cool.
is 3:20 a real meow or a voice over?
cougars actually make noises like that
SSJ32Gohan i was hoping somebody else had an issue with that!!!
LMFAOOO 😂😂😂
Big cats roar and small cats purr, but not the other way around
Still, the house panther has to nibble a bit, but a wild panther would take off a hand. Lol
The difference? A few hundred pounds of pure wild instinct to use your face as a claw sharpener...
