Just a side note that I found pretty awesome. He does not have any tattoos out of respect to his grandfather and the history of generations of Cantors…he also removes his piercings before seeing the elders of his family! Hats to any man who shows such respect for his elders!
I never got any tattoos because I always thought it would mess up getting gigs. Now Im sitting in an amphitheater with our 1st trumpet having hand tats. 😂
I love watching reactions to this video. A friend happened to be in the audience that night. He said people back stage came out to see who was singing and the audience gave the bad a 10 min standing ovation. My friend said it’s his favorite live performance he’s ever seen.
That was just David Draiman clearing out his voice before we got - OOOO WAAWAAWAA - to be fair he was classically trained as a cantor long before Disturbed was formed.
Not sure if it's been said already or not, but I read that Paul Simon said this song belongs to Disturbed now. I also heard it said, that while the original from Simon and Garfunkel was a warning, the Disturbed vesion was anger that the warning was not heeded. Not sure how true all that is, but it makes sense to me..
FALSE. Paul Simon shared it on his social media but HE DID NOT tell Disturbed it's their song now. This is a MYTH circulating TH-cam, regurgitated by people who don't know how to Google. These people are conflating this song with 'Hurt' in which the original singer DID tell Johnny Cash that it's his song now. Let this myth die now.
@@cookeymonster83 Given your reply, I DID do more research. However, Paul Simon was quite taken with the cover Disturbed did. As you eluded to. According to what I read, and saw in an interview, Paul did talk to David about the cover. Paul enjoyed it. I had seen an interview that I can't find now that said as much as my original claims touted. That gives pause as well. Might have been a deep-fake for all I know. My point is, you are correct. NOWHERE in my further research have I seen Paul say the song belongs to Distrubed. I never intend to perpetuate myths. Period. Thank you for pointing this out and causing me to research a bit more. Wonderful Wonderful!!...did I say that was just Wonderful.. I have listened to over and over!!.this track... The vocal control ahhhh.. I saw your journey unfold 😊
By far, the most amazing performance of this classic song that I’ve ever heard…chills and then some…Disturbed made me appreciate the lyrics of this song more than I expected…great reaction video!✌️🎤🔥
When they were handing out vocal ability, The goddess asked David if he would like the voice of an angel or the voice of a devil His reply of course was yes and thankfully the goddess obliged
The last stanza always brings a tear to my eye. So true given the current state of our world. I relate to the anger in his anger in the last verse. One minute it's like 'here, learn from me" then the anger in the end for not listening
Thanks for listening before critiquing it makes a difference! David is a trained cantor I have followed “Disturbed” for yrs been to many 5pm us concerts But he made This his personal re~make rendition that is off the chain with such justice of another Artists message… APPLAUSE
I find it crazy that people don’t know who Disturbed is. Well, they sure do now!!! If you research this a bit it’s quite a journey. Complete with Paul Simon’s enthusiastic blessing. David Draiman is an incredibly gifted musician. He’s a gift to the world we live in now. Glad you were able to experience this. ❤
They did to sound of silence what The Warning did to Enter Sandman . . Made it thier own . . Where the original was a light sugestion as to what was going on in the world . . This is a demand, that we all need to listen and wake up . . Love it . . .
You REALLY need to check the studio version with the video ... AWESOME story and visuals to go along with their interpretation of this classic !!! ❤ ENJOY !!! 😎👍👍
David Draiman had a fever of 103° and apparently that’s why he was sitting on the stool, people were concerned about him passing out, and yet he was able to deliver this incredibly beautiful version, and from what I read the standing ovation was incredibly long, minutes & minutes. That said, I still prefer the official video with other members of the band, and David Draiman at his best!
This is one of the few covers that I can honestly say is far superior to the original - and I say that as someone of a certain age who grew up listening to ( and loving ) Simon & Garfunkel . On a different , and lighter , note I would LOVE to see the two of you react to the video of Dadi Freyr " Think About Things " - and I challenge you to do it without smiling or laughing 😉
This is the best version of the song IMO. Incredible range on David Draiman and so haunting in the live setting. This cover was recently played at my brother's friend's funeral and apparently all in attendance were stunned by the performance. All of their covers are brilliant - see 'Land Of Confusion' (Genesis cover) and 'Shout' (Tears for Fears cover) for further proof of this!
David Dramin has one of the most incredible voices. And, in my opinion *one of the most incredible voices". I hope dude has an incredibly sharp attorney.
David Draiman...one of the best male vocalists on the planet imho. He has a tone to his voice I've never heard before. When he sings....you know who it is. He can go from angelic head voice to rasp/distortion on a dime and back....not easy to do. Also did you notice he can put vibrato on the rasp too? VERY difficult to do. Amazing control too!
This performance has taken up my fav male vocal of all time , taken over from Joe Cocker at Woodstock 1969 "With A Little Help From My Friends" by a smidgin thanks for the reaction
What would you do if Disturbed sang out of tune? Would you stand up and walk out on him? Lend him your ear and he'll sing you a song, and he'll try not to sing out of key. Joe Cocker's cover takes me back to my teens, watching the Woodstock movie in the cinema when it was first released. I wanted to see The Who above all, but Joe Cocker and Santana (especially Michael Shrieve the drummer) were outstanding. I saw it four times in the cinema and I now have it on DVD. Hmm, time to revisit.
Hi guys, greetings from Reading UK This is a great version isn't it 😊 For your own enjoyment Henk Poort (he used to play 'The Phantom' in the Dutch version of 'The Phantom Of The Opera') did a cover of this version when he sang to Floor Jansen (from Nightwish) on a Dutch TV show called Beste Zangers (Best Singers) th-cam.com/video/IT7cYMDDCFQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wMIc0Dx1NQ_M3sT2 You need subtitles on to understand the intro and outro as it is in Dutch, but of course the song itself is in English. It is really good and one of the few times he has ever used distortion on his voice. You also get a small insight into Floor's home life
Now for Down With The Sickness by Disturbed 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻 Buckle up 😂😂 Paul Simon contacted David after this performance and told him how much he liked it 👌🏻👌🏻
Want another cover that's very unique?? Springsteen's "Staying Alive" yes covering the Bee Gees. He did a number of covers saluting Aussie bands while touring in Oz. So different so fantastic you'll be blown away, and yes that is Tom Morello on guitar.
I grew up listening to the likes of Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan so his voice actually sounds very gentle and soft! Joking aside, this is a nice cover of a classic 60's Simon and Garfunkel hit.
If you haven’t already heard of them. Pentatonix does a cover of this song also. Even though I am a Pentaholic (fan base) this version totally blows me away. Anyway, if you’ve not heard of Pentatonix you might want to check them out. You could start with this song or Hallelujah which has over 7 million views. Just a little history. They have over 21 million subscribers. Over 6 billion views .They’ve been together since 2011. They’ve been nominated for 5 Grammys, and have won 3. They also received a star on the Hollywood walk of fame last year. Oh, and one more thing, they’re an a cappella group. Would love to see you guys react to them. When it comes to us Pentaholics do 1 video by them..we will come. 🤗💋🥰
David was trained as a Jewish cantor. He had flu for this performance and did not want autotune - which someone added, briefly, until he glared at them off screen! Simon and Garfunkel were warning - Disturbed is Pi$$ed we did not listen. His eyes in the official video seem to see right through the screen at the viewer!
I love this of cover. Disturbed is awesome. Thanks for your reaction! If you like a powerful, deep voice, PLEASE check out Geoff Castellucci's cover. It's completely different but just as good. One warning, though: He has the deepest voice you've ever heard but can also sing high tenor. Prepare for his Geoffquake low notes!
Few covers are as good as the original, but this is one. Oh, and Joe Cocker's "With a Little Help From My Friends". And Nightwish's "Phantom of the Opera" and "High Hopes". OK, there are a few. But this is one. Mostly I prefer originals, unless -- like Disturbed -- they give it a great personality of its own.
Hello my friends Finn and Belle!!!....No one better than you, to make a reaction video and analyze this incredible singer, with the most incredible vocal range of the world, who is leaving all the experts, literally with their jaws on the floor!!...In 2017, a 22-year-old singer from Kazakhstan, named Dimash Kudaibergen, was invited to participate in the famous Chinese program for professional singers called "The Singer"!!... In his first appearance, Dimash covered one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse"...Since then all this madness began on the internet, TH-cam and social networks worldwide and he is already considered the best singer on the entire planet!!...It is almost impossible to see a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges of 8 octaves, that is, the 88 keys of a digital piano, which allows him to reach all registers, both masculine and feminine, that is, he can sing as Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Contratenor, Contralto, Mezzosoprano and Soprano...You can see in TH-cam to all kinds of experts (Vocal coaches, analysts, singing teachers, singers, youtubers, reactors, etc.), who have dedicated themselves to watching his videos and verifying for themselves that what is said about him is completely true...In addition to all this, Dimash is capable of singing in more than 12 languages...In all his concerts worldwide, tickets are sold in just seconds, via the internet, due to the immense popularity he has worldwide...Anyway, I think you haven't met this impressive singer yet, so here is the link to the first song that Dimash performed in China in that year 2017, the song S.O.S., and if it doesn't bother you, I would like you to mention me as the person who recommended it to you...Warning: You have to be prepared for thousands of views, comments and new subscribers...The video It is more recent, so it does not have the millions of views that the first ones, but it is more complete, including an intro, subtitles in several languages and better audio and sound quality...th-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/w-d-xo.html
I see that it's already been mentioned in the comments, but it would be really interesting to see how you react to the version by Pentatonix. This (Disturbed's) version is very dark and moody,,and definitely a warning to humankind to get its act together, in a way that somehow the original by S&G never seemed to do. It's the first time I've really listened to, and understood, the lyrics and the message behind them. Pentatonix serve up a totally different experience - I'm really not sure which I prefer, both covers are exceptional, and dare I say it, as someone who grew up loving S&G, both superior to the original.
This must be an old video because one of the comments was it's a very popular song it has 144 million views my last recollection was it had almost 1 billion views
Glad you highlighted the arrangement as well as his voice. The original seems like such a simple little song until you actually listen to the words and the message. Paul Simon never liked anything added and never has electric guitar or drums when he played it live.
It bothers me when people assume that this is the version they should be watching. Need to be watching the official music video that will invoke the true emotions
The music videos better cuz you watch the actual video it tells the story The Conan one's good but the music video is better you need to be able to watch the entire video while you're listening to it much better that way this is the only song that makes me emotional in my entire life I cry every time I hear it and I've never cried at a song ever before I'm 67 years old and I've always been a Vulcan control my emotion type person I have no idea why this song makes me cry but it does
I have a request for you, I would love to watch your reaction to James Blunt singing “ Monsters “ It’s not the sort of stuff that you usually react to, but IS an amazing song ! Thank you so much in advance ! PS, you might need tissues ?
Lets calm down, the original being one of the best songs of all times. No, I'd put it in the top 100. It was a good song for it's time and generation. Which I was part of. This version is a great song for it's time and generation. And I'd put it in the top 50. It's so much more emotional and powerful than the original. That it's not even funny.
He was sick when this was performed and they use autotune to fix his woice and he never ok's that. He was so angry about it that he sayed he never gonna be in that show again.
Oh, It seems David had the flu during this performance, and was upset some autotume was used for this live perfomance. Again, I have no substantial evidence of this, but I do beleive he had the flu at least..
I love this version of the song, but I just can't listen to Disturbed anymore after reading the lead singer's xenophobic Twitter feed, supporting Israel's genocide in Gaza. I doubt I'll ever listen to Disturbed again.
Just a side note that I found pretty awesome. He does not have any tattoos out of respect to his grandfather and the history of generations of Cantors…he also removes his piercings before seeing the elders of his family! Hats to any man who shows such respect for his elders!

He does a great live duet with myles Kennedy
Best cover ever!!!!!!!
Some bands cover a song with a blanket. Disturbed brang heavey equipment and trucks of dirt. I guess it's more of a burial.
He was actually sick at hat time and did it anyway
A voz mais potente do mundo.
David was ill with the flu during this performance. That's why he was sitting.
If I could say that in the most respectful way possible that is the way I would like to say it respectfully
The studio version os even better. :)
Think he was sick AF that night, too.
It's impossible to stop it
Pentatonix did this also. Very creative, both of them.
This and Helellujah are probably the best things that Pentatonix have done, the harmonies are sublime.

Oh, It seems David had the flu during this performance, and was upset some autotume was used for this live perfomance.
Again, I have no substantial evidence of this, but I do beleive he had the flu at least..
Bless you! Cutest sneeze ever!
Masculine voice.
It's not live😂
Lady, you are making me sea sick the way you sway back and forth
Whats up with the wierd smile that she keeps plastered to her face? Its seems quite forced.
🤣🤣🤣
I love this version of the song, but I just can't listen to Disturbed anymore after reading the lead singer's xenophobic Twitter feed, supporting Israel's genocide in Gaza. I doubt I'll ever listen to Disturbed again.
Well, he is Jewish. Would be a bit weird him supporting his people being slaughtered LOL.
Heavy metal but an angelic voice lol
