    I have one of the same lane tables and refinished it using special walnut stain and Arm R seal. So glad you didn't paint it! Your tables came out beautiful!

    The tables look great. And congrats on the profit. Paying $50.00 for a matching set of MCM end tables was a very fair and good price. Finding a matching set of anything MCM is a major score.

    I think natural wood should always and only be stained. Paint is good for lower cost pieces but the real wood needs to be showcased. These look great.

      I agree but at the same time, if it’s beyond repair, paint doesn’t hurt if it means being able to save it

      I'm coming to the same conclusion. I wish I had learned this before. I've got pieces that I chalk painted! Guess I've got lots of sanding to do!😮

    These remind me of my Remploy coffee table. Remploy was a British company & the furniture was designed to flat pack when you're not using it. Which I think is just genius as I currently have it stored under my bed. I feel like we're missing that with modern furniture. The ability to unscrew it all & take it apart when we want to. You made these tables look great

    • @CedarPineDesigns
      @CedarPineDesigns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s so awesome. I wish this did break down a bit more. The body was still glued together but was nice I could take some of it apart

    The tables turned out very well, good job! It occurs to me that perhaps more attention could be paid to some little visible details, but that contribute to the final quality of the work. For example, avoid stains, finger marks and excess wood stain on the inside and bottom of the furniture.

    Beautiful work!
    Did you just use oil based stain and water based polyurethane?
    I agree with your choices for stain to match up what we’re clearly different wood species. You could also mix a custom batch in a glass jar between stains with the same base (oil w/oil, water w/water). You can control& fine tune the tint.
    Then also instead of wiping leftover stain on top of the poly, add a bit of stain pigment to your finish poly as long as again using oil to oil, water to water. That gives it depth and is permanent. Experiment as you are to do it your own way. I look forward to seeing your next project.

    • @CedarPineDesigns
      @CedarPineDesigns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow. Thank you so much for all the info. I definitely want to get better at blending. I did use water based poly over oil based stain. Once it’s dry, you can apply water based

    I wasn't expecting the top to come off. cool. im about to do a very similar set but I got 3 pieces from the same era ..coffee and sides.. made by N.C. Furniture Co. im doing two tone white paint and walnut stained tops.. I just got off several layers of green paint and almost went through the veneer. I'm new at this. 😂. I got this 3 piece set for $60 at local thrift.. I dont think I can get the top off tho. I would have went ahead and stained the underside of this one imo.. how come no one ever does that? I've never seen anyone apply anything on top the poly. hmm. the final product looks great 👌 what can you sell my 3 piece set for?

    • @CedarPineDesigns
      @CedarPineDesigns  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s an awesome deal. Veneer burn is the most crucial mistake that is all to easy to make. Sounds like your project is moving along. I just follow the manufacturers method of craftsmanship so I didn’t stain the underside as they didn’t
