    • @shilohauraable
      @shilohauraable หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      That drum is also a Kachina drum from USA Native Americans! Very telling since they believe Native Americans first migrated here from Asia, over a now below sea level land bridge & down from the Alaskans. The Native Alaskans are very similar in appearance to the Japanese and Chinese. They eventually became a stouter built people due to diet & survival of the fittest gene pools. But all Native American tribes have genes in common with Eastern Asian populations. So between the NAs & the Vikings, it seems Columbus was actually late to the "discovery" party. 🙄 😅

    In the early 80's not everyone had a VCR yet and sometimes movies took a few years to get on TV, so when there was a sequel, they would recap the previous movie(s) at the start of the new film, in case you missed the original. (You couldn't just on-demand watch it.) You especially see this in horror movies like the first few Friday the 13th films.

      I worked for the Dept. of Defense in the late 80's and was engaged to be married in July of 1989. So in 1988 I took a part time evening job at a new video store franchise in the area. BLOCKBUSTERS !!! Karate Kid ll was just released on VHS and we ordered 24 copies of both 1 and 2. It was like pulling teeth to get customers to bring back both copies regardless of the threat of late fees. Finally our Manager issued a decree. "DO NOT RENT ANY NEW MOVIES TO CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE OUTSTANDING LATE RETURN FEES AND RENTALS. Being at fault myself...I quit.

      We didn’t have info like that back then unless they included it in the final production credits; we assumed since there was a military base in Okinawa that it would have been filmed there.

    Great reaction to this good sequel BJ and Asia.
    Yuji Okumoto (who plays Chozen) in this film (not only shows up in the Cobra Kai series as the character later on) but he also was in two of my other favorite 80s flicks - Better Off Dead (1985) - with John Cusack & Real Genius (1985) - with Val Kilmer....plus he also was in Robot Wars (1993) along with Danny Kamekona (who played Mr. Sato in Karate Kid 2)...sadly Robot Wars would be Danny's Kamekona very last feature film (before he passed away in 1996). 😢

      The late Kamekona also appeared in Honeymoon in Vegas (with Cage / Parker / the also-late Caan & Morita) prior to Robot Wars and his eventual death, but after Robot Jox - with the latter 2 containing unrelated plots.
      Also, Okumoto owns a 2-location restaurant in Washington alongside his wife angela, Kona Kitchen.

      Under no circumstances was I trying to delve into the show, period.

    Asia: "Master Splinter" 😆😆😆 The beginning of KKII was to be used in the ending of KKI but editing decided it be better to use it in the beginning of the sequel. The song 'Glory of Love' was performed by Peter Cetera who had just left the group Chicago after 18 years with the group. The song was from Cetera's first solo album after Chicago. I'd found out a while back the song was going to be used for the movie Rocky IV but was passed over. So lyrics were changed for the KKII. It paid off, hitting Number 1 on the billboard charts in the Summer of '86 and was nominated for a Grammy.

    "Look eye, always look eye." A sign of respect. This was a good sequel and the best one in the original trilogy. After the third one, Hilary Swank did The Next Karate Kid with Pat Morita being back as well as Michael Ironside. Then they did a remake of the first one with Jackie Chan And Christopher Smith, Will and Jada's son in 2009. Then Cobra Kai TV series. Nice reaction. I suggest these films: Condorman, Shipwrecked, The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad, Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, Masters Of The Universe, American Ninja, Legend (1985), and The Dark Crystal.

    Okay, first off...Part II is my favorite....to answer BJ's thoughts...
    KK: Is Daniel's story and takes place from the start to finish of his Senior year of High School.
    KKII: Is the 3 month Summer after his Senior year and is Mr.Miyagi's story.
    KKIII: Is immediately when they return from Japan(KK-KKIII takes place total over a year and a half.
    The Next KK(KK4): Is a Mr.Miyagi story about him and his new student, Julie Pierce(Hillary Swank) and Pat Morita's last time in the KK universe as Mr.Miyagi. Daniel is an adult and mentioned, but does not appear in the movie.
    Cobra Kai is the sequel series to all 4 movies...and FANTASTIC! LOVE IT!

    Fun fact, well not for Ralph Macchio, The Blu ray commentary said they had a bad barracuda problem on the scene where he falls in the water practicing "the drum technique" and they had to build a just under the surface of the water fence to keep out the barracudas from attacking Ralph so you didn't see the fence on camera.
