      @@DtotheAtotheN unfortunately the 'vaccine' neither prevents one getting coronavirus; nor prevents you passing it along. The point of the old vaccines, like the TB vax, is to prevent people catching it and becoming ill - thus protecting the population, including the more vulnerable ones and those on whom the vaccine does not 'take' - or those who are allergic and could die from it. This isn't Trump's fault though.

      I get why people are reacting negatively to this -- trust in institutions is incredibly important when you have a threat at this scale -- but when you have leaders like Boris Johnson and Donald Trump failing to pick up the ball and provide for their people, you really have to consider your own safety and your own well being, as well as the safety and well being of your community. You cannot blindly trust the government (though blind distrust isn't helpful either).

      @@one_smol_duck I agree with your sentiments about taking responsibility for yourself. Government can't provide for the people despite their empty promises of surrender more and more and we'll promise to take care of you.
      The government has no resources or money. They can borrow or print, which they are doing already and are about to do even more so. There seems to be the misunderstanding that the government are sat on a pile of treasure and are just refusing to hand it out. They can only take from other people. If they took it from all the "rich" people, those people would be forced to liquidate investments which would collapse businesses and cause massive unemployment. If you took their already liquid assets and divided it between everyone else, it would hardly make a dent.
      It's pretty clear they are about to bail everything out via new currency issuance, then later everyone will complain about sky-rocketing prices and demand price controls.... then shortages. People have relied on the state being mother, the state being father more and more and more for so long now, that we are an incredibly fragile country currently, with massive debts and no savings thanks to central banking. We have almost no economic resilience.
      We moved away from free markets and the consequences of risk years ago. We have central banking, fiat money, fractional reserves, legal tender laws, capital gains taxes, deposit insurance; a whole swathe of distortions and moral hazards. And we have artificially controlled interest rates that mis-price risk and reward bad investments, punishing the prudent who want to save, by transferring wealth from the bottom to the top, via inflation. Ever more punitive and costly regulation and state control. We have so much state-managed capitalism, that we're not far away from communism or fascism.
      And worst of all, free markets will get the blame for it... and people will demand ever more control and government power in return for surrendering more liberty. We've given up on the ideas of liberty and prudence and the rule of law that made us such a wealthy country. We've been burning away our capital like a lit fuse.

      2) Income will be protected. The government will fund universal statutory sick pay for any and all workers on any kind of employment roll including zero hours contracts, who have to self isolate without delay.
      3) If you have any kind of cough or fever, self-isolate for a minimum 7 days or Until you are nolonger coughing.
      4) If you have any repiratory illness or are over the age of 70 self isolate until further notice.
      5) Self isolate means. Stay in your home. Stay 6 ft from other people if possible.
      6) Everyone wash your hands with soap following medical methods for doing so, and avoid touching your face unless your hands are clean."

    being an introvert has never been so beneficial. this is kind of what we deserve, we've voted for this, time and again. humanity is, in many ways, deeply stupid. and we're still taking it, there is no fight to change anything. we sit and moan but we don't change anything. people still go to work for the man, pay their taxes, day after day after day, nose to the grindstone, to ensure that THEY are OK , that THEY can feed THEIR kids. someone else should stand up, not them, they have too much to lose. and so it goes on and nothing changes, nothing ever changes. i include myself in this btw, i am not claiming to be any different, or have any answers. a general strike, by everyone, is the only non violent thing i can think of that might be enough to initiate some kind of change. like, everyone. every worker in the world. anyone up for organising that shit?

      Yeah can't fault the 'dream' in that. The problem is that if you can find anyone with the guts, drive and nouse to kick start it, they will soon realise that, they are very likely to come out of it richer more powerful, sooner and with less effort if they take the 30 pieces of silver that is bound to be offered by the already rich and powerful elite! That is if these extremely moral world 'leaders' can't see a way to quietly whack this lion of a man or woman!
      It's all been done before many times over whether it be called communist revolution, social capitalism, dictatorship or whatever. The same crud rises to the surface, to lord it over the hoi poll-oi below!
      The stupid comes in because the many can't ever seem to grasp the fact that people they vote into power, don't ever give a fryer tuck about the welfare of the morons who put them there in the first place, other than to see how much can be screwed out of their loyal voters to enrich themselves!
      Cynicism rules!

      "nothing changes, nothing ever changes" - We first need to figure out the changes we want. (Also need to figure out who "we" are.) Then, we can push for those changes to be implemented and in this second phase, the options can vary immensily from lobbying politicians to general strikes as You mentioned. First of all though, we need clarity and unity in our intent. Best of luck!

    • @jonnylumberjack6223
      @jonnylumberjack6223 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Eusantdac for me, at least, there is a one word answer to that - equality. How to get there is a rather more complicated proposition. I'm not sure humans really have the brains to come up with a scenario that would work for everybody. When I say brains, I don't mean intelligence, I mean brains - maybe we are not an egalitarian species at the end of the day?

    • @Eusantdac
      @Eusantdac 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jonnylumberjack6223 "Equality" sounds nice. We already had the cry of: "Liberté, égalité, fraternité" in the French Revolution, of 1789. One would have thought that after that we would not be once again crying out for equality but that is where we are. So, we have to define what equality means, in terms of opportunity, or wages, or whatever we mean by equality and then it can be translated into legislative options. That is the main problem with protests nowadays: they are fractured in their intent/goals. One has to be specific in their demands, in my opinion.

      Also, brand new research from Hong Kong suggests that some of those who recover (including non- at risk groups) will sustain damage to their lungs resulting in 20-30% reduction in lung capacity, and it’s unknown how permanent that is or whether there are other health issues post-recovery.

      James Parker HAHAHAHA wind your little neck in, lad
      Cow’s milk is well-nice and harmless. Drink it up instead of gargling spunk.
      Are you actually blaming animal products for obesity? Funny you should say that... I was 18stone this time last year. Switched to a diet high in eggs, dairy, meat etc and now I’m 14stone, fitter, faster & stronger than I’ve ever been and actually a healthy human being.. Cholesterol, heart, blood pressure, liver & kidney functions, all PERFECTLY HEALTHY. Complete U-turn.
      I was obese and high-risk PRE meat/fish/eggs/dairy... and in excellent shape POST both inside and out.
      Mostly, obesity is a result of being a greedy, lazy slob (experience), and certainly has NOTHING to do with what foods you eat.
      Now when it comes to vegetarianism, veganism or whatever, I’m usually an “each to their own” kinda guy. Honestly couldn’t give a shit until twats like you come along thinking you’re taking the moral high ground. Screaming and shouting whilst wearing t-shirts, trousers, socks, shoes etc made in the Middle/Far East that a little Chinese, Pakistani, or Bangladeshi lady was paid £0.50 an hour to make for you. But you’re nice people because they aren’t made of leather and you don’t drink milk 😂😂😂😂
      Get in the bin, you absolute lettuce leaf🌱

If we are then clearly I noticed something different! After the disabled person entered the car the guy clearly struggled to take apart the scooter to fit it in the back of the vehicle, maybe he doesn't do it very often, I suspect he is a volunteer driver who picks up disabled people from the hospital because it wasn't a taxi and they didn't interact like they were related in any way. so, maybe, just perhaps, this was a decent guy doing someone vulnerable a favour (badly as it happens) but ... is this exactly what JP is saying though, how the vulnerable are laughed at?

That is the only way to fight this infection until our scientist develop an effective immunization for it. But it really is a pretty wimpy virus compared to some other past and future viruses. And our technological and practical skill at dealing with disease in general is much better than it was even a few decades back, let alone a century ago when we were faced with the Spanish Flu pandemic. The experts say there is around a 1% mortality rate for those with other comorbidities. Small comfort for those exceptions in the 1% and their families, but as long as you don't smoke, aren't obese, and are under 70 you're most likely going to be alright - helps not to be poor either. Just be smart if you do get it. Stay in bed and get lots of rest, drink plenty of fluids, and take medications to help ease your symptoms. Do the same things you'd do if you came down with the regular seasonal flu. Of course, if your respiratory symptoms get too bad then yes, call an ambulance and get admitted to a proper facility where they can put you on a respirator and start you on serious meds. We really are going to be okay. This isn't Captain Trips or some real world disease like Ebola or a high mortality super flu.
