- Ayesha Siddiqa, one of the best known experts on the functioning of Pakistan Army and author of 'Military Inc: Inside Pakistan’s Military Economy' says Pakistan Army doesn't know how to respond to India in the aftermath of India scrapping the article 370 which guaranteed special status to Jammu & Kashmir. She adds there's a general perception in the country that Pakistan Army doesn't have the capacity needed to wage a war against India.
In Conversation with Pervaiz Alam, Ms. Siddiqa discusses various options available to Pakistan before it could formulate its response to India on Kashmir. As the RSS and its affiliates have dictated a national narrative in India, Pak army has always tried to control the narrative in Pakistan - that only it could protect the idea of Pakistan and its two-nation theory, opines Ayesha Siddiqa. Now, the politicians may ask the Pak Army to walk the talk, Ayesha says. And, in that scenario, Pakistan doesn't seem to have an answer.
She fears repression will increase in Pakistan to suppress the voices of dissent.
The interview with Ayesha Siddiqa was recorded in London on 12 August, 2019.
A Ph.D. in War Studies from King’s College London, Ayesha Siddiqa has written two books, 'Military Inc. : Inside Pakistan’s Military Economy' (2nd Edition Pluto Press, London, Nov 2016) and 'Pakistan’s Arms Procurement and Military Build-up'.
She has expertise in Pakistan's military decision-making, defence economics, civil-military relations and militancy and extremism in South Asia and the Middle East.
She has also authored 12 book chapters and published over 300 articles in academic journals and opinion pieces in leading national & international outlets including The New York Times, Al-Jazeera, The Indian Express, The Hindu, The Dawn, Jane’s Defence Weekly, Kafila, Le Monde Diplomatique, The News, Tehelka, Himal, expertise in military decision-making, defence economics, civil-military relations and militancy and extremism in South Asia and the Middle East. OpenDemocracy, Outlook India, Dawn, The Friday Times, Newsline and others.
She was the only woman and civilian to have worked with Pakistan Navy as Director of Naval Research. She has worked as an Advisor to the Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) - Pakistan’s Anti-Corruption Watchdog. She has been associated with the Department of the Auditor General of Pakistan for 10 years as part of Pakistan’s prestigious Civil Service.
Ayesha Siddiqa is regularly invited to lecture at leading educational institutes and think-tanks including Johns Hopkins, University of California - Berkeley, George Washington University, Columbia University, University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, Tufts University, Oxford University, Heritage Foundation, Durham, Geneva Centre for Security Policy, Chatham House, Kings College, Lund University, Sorbonne University and Royal Danish Defence College among others.
She is the recipient of several prestigious fellowships and research grants including Charles Wallace Fellowship (Oxford), Woodrow Wilson Pakistan Fellowship, Ford Fellowship, University of New Mexico, SDPI Fellow, Mehboob-ul-Haq Award, Heinrich Boll Foundation Grant, Center for Strategic Research and Analysis Grant, and Kodikara Award.

Separatists had announced complete shutdown of the valley for 3 months when burhan wani was killed. Seeing the first few lines of this interview and reading tne first few comments and retorts by the channel itself is enlightening with the benefit of hindsight.
Had read some news excerpts military inc reproduced in newspapers on net. Must say she did a great and honest job for her country of origin during the time. And that made her an outlier to the establishment.
There are 3 things that cones across very clearly -
1. Ideology of Pakistan is hate against India. Guess the leftist bent of land reforms by the pre independence Congress was too much for the zamindars in their feudal hegemony. So the new born grew up on hate for India and was used by Anglo Saxons to keep landlocked Soviets restrained from reaching Persian Gulf. The hate child has hate in blood and now in DNA. Economy and society is based on war and Maal E Ghaneemat. So ideology has been incorporated.
2. Deliberate Chaos is s form of confusion created for outside world to buy time for internal power struggles (inevitable in a selfish society) and for a lifeline to come around so that the past can be continued that other day.
3. The real progress has been in anglo Saxon establishments - press, military and intelligence services and increasingly politics.
The real conquest will be of the west. Look at grooming gangs and toolkits with diametrically opposite groups like Left, LGBTQ when histiry has shown that these have been used and then eliminated by forces as represented by Pak.

There is not a remotest comparison possible between RSS and ISI . RSS is a cultural and social organisation . Indian media , Judiciary , academia and bureaucracy are largely control by left leaning people . They have formed a formidable nexus among themselves ,which has been promoted , protected and nourished by Congress .The have been setting the narration from last couple of decades , which never resonated with the country s ethos and culture . Majority has been taken for granted and ridiculed .They have been persecuted inthe name of secularism and at the same time appeasement of minorities became the new found religion of political parties . RSS has been the lone voice for such people who tried to think about nation and held their head high , fighting breaking India forces.

Pak army strategies:
1. Indoctrinate a narrative that says Pak Army is above reproach or criticism.
2. Indoctrinate a narrative that Pakistan is in a constant state of war against India, Jews and the Americans. Everyone is cruel except Pakistan army.
3. Chew off of the national budget to maintain the above narratives.
4. Inflict cruelty and abduct anyone who castigtes the army. (Missing persons).
4. Build a narrative that Islam in Pakistan is only secured if Pakistan army is in control.
5. Indoctrinate the masses with the fact that Pakistan army's objectives are in line with the two nation theory.
There is no reply of Foreign policy and diplomacy of India under Modi Government. Pakistan is helpless and can't do anything, any aggression from pakistan means digging its own grave.
Its been a ambition of pakistan to take over Kashmir by fighting on the shoulders of Kasmiris and on the name of Kashmir issue these pakistani general looted a huge amount of money from pakistani tax payers. So forget about any war, abrogation of 370 is good for the comman people's of both the countries.

RSS talks about people who belong from Hindustan including all religion. They believe on unity of Hinduism (which is not about religion) Hinduism is not considered as religion even in Ancient Hindu texts. Religion is Sanatan. Hinduism means people who belongs to this land.
By the way you should have asked her about human rights violation in Balochistan, Gilgit and other parts of Pakistan and also about genocide and rapes of Hindus which is happening since than Pakistan was created.

Like in many other countries such as Egypt as a similar example, the wishes of the people are not represented in the halls of power.
