I'm late but I honestly love this song. It's like we just got tired and lay down on bed and thinking about the reason to live (I know that's edgy) that's why I like this soundtrack I'm already playing Yume Nikki and this actually sound creepy but depressing at the same time.
Wow I was thinking the same thing, but more along the lines of, a scene of someone sacrificing themselves to save their family, and accepting their fate that this is it, they’re about to die, with no regrets in life. But the movie is horror oriented.
The music sounds so otherworldly. Like an extraterrestrial world beyond our own. Now kids THIS is real horror. It feels natural and gives a true feeling of dread. Hats off to Kikiyama!
my favorite world because i see myself the most in this world, to me its the bottomless pit of the dark side of your soul where all your negativity that eventually finds its way into the surface of your everyday life comes from (without you even noticing most of the time), and walking around this world looking deeply into its emptiness until finding the knife, makes me feel like im tearing down the thin walls of blissful ignorance and really seeing the true state of my soul, even if its uncomfortable at first, just being there without any distractions while time is slowing down brings me a profound sense of peace....
it's crazy how many people go through what madotsuki goes through. isolation inside of a room, (or just being relegated to a toxic environment in general) and, from how i interpret it, escaping into a world in their heads/avoiding reality. it's a cycle that feeds into itself. and i've seen people do it and recognized it in myself before. but ultimately you can turn things around i remember listening to "fitter happier" by radiohead. a text to speech voice recites a list of activities that a person is trying to stick to to stay afloat in modern society. it comes across as robotic, but disturbingly human. it sounds exhausted. like it doesn't want to go on. it ends with the line "a pig, in a cage, on antibiotics." and i remember listening to that and thinking, "well fuck." i really started to see all of us as pigs whose only purpose was to become a pile of meat at the end of a food processor. that we are all here to be imprisoned and used by the wealthy, and disposed of. and so the feeling of being trapped expanded from my room to my entire world. and i see now that's not a good way to look at the world, as a prison. it's made me miserable. ultimately i see that i can rise above the toxicity of society. i see that even though there's selfishness and evil in the world, there's also love and the potential for better things. i think it's important to never give up on yourself. never to be resigned to your unhappiness. treat yourself the way you would treat someone you love the most. i've realized i'm never of a single mind. one is loving, the other is self hating. and the latter would have me give up, sink into my vices, and see myself as a pig in a cage. but we all have self love inside of us, that almost parental love for ourselves, where we can remind ourselves not to give up on ourselves. to see that the there's always hope and that we should dedicate ourselves to life, that in the midst of subjugation and abuse we can create love, safety, and happiness. it sounds painfully cliche but it's true

She sent this to you hoping you'll like it too. The smell attracts you. It was worth of 4 stars. You're now finishing the book. It's not fascinating , but it contains a lot of images that remind you of ur childhood. It's getting a bit hotter. Your friend comes back , with a interesting descovery. She/He observes the weird sleeping position you've taken and puts a glass of strawberry milk on the table...decides to wake you up 40 minutes before the arrival.
yume nikki's soundtrack is dreams in musical form. I believe this is a dream in writing form, pure abstract concepts with no real direction that almost make sense.
That's a crazy story that really does replicate how dreams feel. The atmosphere is also really nice, I liked the part where the Mom sends her kid a "Vanilla Pizza..." I just find that both sweet and hilarious. You might like David Firth's "Sock" series. They are also written to be like dreams, my personal favorites are the 3rd and 5th ones.

Vacuum space which makes the universe itself is nothingness except for the occasional fluctuations of zero point energy. The overall tone of the music conveys a sense of emptiness that feels similar to being in the Vacuum of space where there is no sound but not completely empty as the tranquility makes it feel like there is still some energy in a vaccum.

This theme always made me think of walking through some old lady’s house with vintage furniture with old wallpaper everywhere that’s black and white with hints of gold… the lights are those old ones that are dim with a brown hue that are dome shaped so bug carcasses get caught inside them.
I will tell to you a story that I pray you never forget. There once was a small boy who lived by his lonesome. He had no friends, no acquaintances nor any enemies to speak of. His days were spent playing with his toys in his room, where he would act out grand stories with branching paths and deep characters, played by his toys, voice acted by him, for his own amusement. Every day, from dusk to dawn, this is how his days were spent. Until the boy met a most curious being. On a dim night, years ago, the boy laid awake in bed, staring at the ceiling, unable to fall asleep. He wanted to play with his toys, but couldn't, as his parents would scold him if he got out of bed, and was caught playing. And so there he sat, unable to fall asleep, but unable to play. In a state of mindless limbo. He finally began to drift into a slumber when suddenly a startling noise came from under the boy's bed. The sounds of something sharp scratching against the wood of the bed, quite quietly however. The boy, oblivious to the possible dangers, peered under the bed. His eyes met with another pair of white eyes, the shadow's form obscured by the darkness under the bed. And yet he felt no fear when facing this entity. He felt only comfort by it's quiet scratching. And it, in response, showed no hostility. And for weeks the shadow remained under the boys bed, never causing any disturbances, aside from the scratching noise. And the boy tolerated this for a long time, until curiosity overpowered the boy's instincts, and the boy once more peered under the bed in the dead of night. Once more was he greeted by the lifeless, white eyes of the shadow that glowed dimly in the darkness. "What are you doing underneath my bed, mister?" The boy sheepishly asked. The shadow gave no response, but did stop it's scratching momentarily. It retreated into the darkness before the glow of it's white eyes disappeared. The boy, unsettled, returned to his bed. He crawled underneath his covers and awaited his slumber. And so, the boy would only see the shadow one more time. On a stormy night, when the break in happened. Weeks later, a storm struck the town the boy lived in. He hid under his covers, fearful there may be monsters on the prowl, having almost entirely forgotten the shadow under his bed. When suddenly from the hallway outside his room, a crash was heard and the noise of the rain became louder on the other side of the boy's bedroom door. The boy quickly hid under his covers, hoping there were no monsters coming for him. Alas, there was the worst of monsters coming right for him. He knew, as he could hear the footsteps approach his door. The door slowly opened, as the creak of the old hinges was drowned out by the sound of the rain. A man stepped into the room, looking around. He appeared disheveled, and weary. He quickly tore through the boy's dressers, looking for something. And then, he noticed the quivering that came from under the covers. As the man approached, he thought to himself. "This kid is awake? They might've seen my face. I have to shut them up, else they'll say something to the cops." his deranged mind repeated over and over. And so they tore the covers off the boy. The boy would have screamed, hadn't he been frozen in fear. The man reached for the boy, his shaky hands aiming towards the boy's neck, when suddenly... A scratching sound came from underneath the bed. The man stopped in his tracks. He got down on his knees and peered under the bed. Without a sound, he 'crawled' under the bed. There was no more scratching. The boy, traumatized, peered under the bed, and was once more greeted with the white eyes of the shadow. The shadow made a 'shushing' sound as it retreated deeper into the darkness. The man who broke in was nowhere to be found. Not even the stench of cigarettes that followed him could be detected. That man was never found again. Oh, the humanity.
This brings me back to December of 2021 we’re I was interested in Undertale. I know it’s not Yume Nikki but it just reminds of Undertale. Plus it also makes me think I’m in a room with a bright light from the ceiling fan.
This song makes me think of seeing the morning sun after a long night and it's time to finally sleep. I also think about the many road trips that I was on that we stayed on the road well into the night.
GOD this world terrified me. Even when I knew I had to get through it to progress, I damn near didn't finish the game because of it. Perhaps it's my nyctophobia, but still, nightmare fuel
Why some find this relaxing but others as scary or uneasy? This theme have both, why? The two chords that sound are E(sus4) and B half-dimished (Maybe D minor 6 over F or F6 flat 5 I´m not sure) The first one don't have a major or minor third, the third gives a cheerful (Major) or sad, dark (Minor) sound, instead of those the chord have a 4 that gives neither sad or happy sound, just like a floating or dreamy sound, like neutral. The second one gives the dark, creepy uneasy sound, because the B half-dimished have a minor third and a tritone between F and B that gives a very unestable feeling, the tritone was even considered evil ages ago, you can find the tritone in almost every soundtrack from horror games or movies.
to me it always felt like hearing something shocking, painful, that leaves you speechless. and like trying to come with terms with this, feeling the weight of grief and sorrow appear, and realizing, that it won't go anywhere for a certain amount of time i've felt something like that several times lately, and Yume Nikki, Cry of Fear and Omori soundtracks were somehow helping a lot with acceptance. to anyone who reads this, i wish you to find your happiness and to value what you have
Way long ago, when I first got into lucid dreaming etc (surprise surprise lol) this is the ambient effect that I put on so I could stay half-awake. I opened the game and went to the Dark World so it would be a continuous loop. I'm still convinced I would've actually had a lucid dream except my mom burst in right when I was starting to dream lol
this sounds so confusing and "expertive", but its amazing! it sounds like your the only last in a dark town, your just walking through a dark town that got hit by a tornado, and it feels oddly liminal.

yume nikki's soundtrack is dreams in musical form. I believe this is a dream in writing form, pure abstract concepts with no real direction that almost make sense.
That's a crazy story that really does replicate how dreams feel. The atmosphere is also really nice, I liked the part where the Mom sends her kid a "Vanilla Pizza..." I just find that both sweet and hilarious.
You might like David Firth's "Sock" series. They are also written to be like dreams, my personal favorites are the 3rd and 5th ones.
@@dinosaurcj hi. this comment i made is just a tiny part of my imagination. i was 17 when i made it and i was very childish, which explains the "vanilla pizza" part. even though i'm 19 now i don't read books for intelligent people (i've never heard about the book you mentioned because i'm from Europe, sorry). when i saw your notification i thought "i think it's from one of my cringy edgy old comments" but i'm surprised that it's one with a story i made about some people traveling around the universe.
my dreams are really weird. i mainly dream creatures like fairies (they sometimes sing) and shadows of people that talk and move. i also dream about me eating desserts, cemeteries and forests.

The music reminds of being of in a dream being chased by something I can’t see but all I can hear is the sound of its garbled breath and the smell of blood.
This kind of reminds me of something you'd hear in Twin Peaks, it's vaguely ominous and kind of depressing.

For a song titled Dark World, it's actually pretty relaxing!
Vacuum space which makes the universe itself is nothingness except for the occasional fluctuations of zero point energy. The overall tone of the music conveys a sense of emptiness that feels similar to being in the Vacuum of space where there is no sound but not completely empty as the tranquility makes it feel like there is still some energy in a vaccum.

this soundtrack gives me a lot of nostalgia. i remember playing yume nikki for the first time when i was 13 or 14, over summer break, and being completely enamored with the game. this was always one of my favorite tracks and i remember just chilling in the dark world for a while to listen to this lol

This theme always made me think of walking through some old lady’s house with vintage furniture with old wallpaper everywhere that’s black and white with hints of gold… the lights are those old ones that are dim with a brown hue that are dome shaped so bug carcasses get caught inside them.

I will tell to you a story that I pray you never forget.
There once was a small boy who lived by his lonesome. He had no friends, no acquaintances nor any enemies to speak of. His days were spent playing with his toys in his room, where he would act out grand stories with branching paths and deep characters, played by his toys, voice acted by him, for his own amusement. Every day, from dusk to dawn, this is how his days were spent.
Until the boy met a most curious being.
On a dim night, years ago, the boy laid awake in bed, staring at the ceiling, unable to fall asleep. He wanted to play with his toys, but couldn't, as his parents would scold him if he got out of bed, and was caught playing. And so there he sat, unable to fall asleep, but unable to play. In a state of mindless limbo. He finally began to drift into a slumber when suddenly a startling noise came from under the boy's bed.
The sounds of something sharp scratching against the wood of the bed, quite quietly however. The boy, oblivious to the possible dangers, peered under the bed. His eyes met with another pair of white eyes, the shadow's form obscured by the darkness under the bed. And yet he felt no fear when facing this entity. He felt only comfort by it's quiet scratching. And it, in response, showed no hostility.
And for weeks the shadow remained under the boys bed, never causing any disturbances, aside from the scratching noise. And the boy tolerated this for a long time, until curiosity overpowered the boy's instincts, and the boy once more peered under the bed in the dead of night. Once more was he greeted by the lifeless, white eyes of the shadow that glowed dimly in the darkness.
"What are you doing underneath my bed, mister?" The boy sheepishly asked.
The shadow gave no response, but did stop it's scratching momentarily. It retreated into the darkness before the glow of it's white eyes disappeared. The boy, unsettled, returned to his bed. He crawled underneath his covers and awaited his slumber. And so, the boy would only see the shadow one more time. On a stormy night, when the break in happened.
Weeks later, a storm struck the town the boy lived in. He hid under his covers, fearful there may be monsters on the prowl, having almost entirely forgotten the shadow under his bed. When suddenly from the hallway outside his room, a crash was heard and the noise of the rain became louder on the other side of the boy's bedroom door. The boy quickly hid under his covers, hoping there were no monsters coming for him. Alas, there was the worst of monsters coming right for him. He knew, as he could hear the footsteps approach his door.
The door slowly opened, as the creak of the old hinges was drowned out by the sound of the rain. A man stepped into the room, looking around. He appeared disheveled, and weary. He quickly tore through the boy's dressers, looking for something. And then, he noticed the quivering that came from under the covers. As the man approached, he thought to himself.
"This kid is awake? They might've seen my face. I have to shut them up, else they'll say something to the cops." his deranged mind repeated over and over.
And so they tore the covers off the boy. The boy would have screamed, hadn't he been frozen in fear. The man reached for the boy, his shaky hands aiming towards the boy's neck, when suddenly...
A scratching sound came from underneath the bed.
The man stopped in his tracks. He got down on his knees and peered under the bed. Without a sound, he 'crawled' under the bed. There was no more scratching. The boy, traumatized, peered under the bed, and was once more greeted with the white eyes of the shadow. The shadow made a 'shushing' sound as it retreated deeper into the darkness. The man who broke in was nowhere to be found. Not even the stench of cigarettes that followed him could be detected.
That man was never found again.
Oh, the humanity.
That was amazing!

This brings me back to December of 2021 we’re I was interested in Undertale. I know it’s not Yume Nikki but it just reminds of Undertale. Plus it also makes me think I’m in a room with a bright light from the ceiling fan.
This song makes me think of seeing the morning sun after a long night and it's time to finally sleep. I also think about the many road trips that I was on that we stayed on the road well into the night.

Why some find this relaxing but others as scary or uneasy?
This theme have both, why?
The two chords that sound are E(sus4) and B half-dimished (Maybe D minor 6 over F or F6 flat 5 I´m not sure)
The first one don't have a major or minor third, the third gives a cheerful (Major) or sad, dark (Minor) sound, instead of those the chord have a 4 that gives neither sad or happy sound, just like a floating or dreamy sound, like neutral.
The second one gives the dark, creepy uneasy sound, because the B half-dimished have a minor third and a tritone between F and B that gives a very unestable feeling, the tritone was even considered evil ages ago, you can find the tritone in almost every soundtrack from horror games or movies.

to me it always felt like hearing something shocking, painful, that leaves you speechless. and like trying to come with terms with this, feeling the weight of grief and sorrow appear, and realizing, that it won't go anywhere for a certain amount of time
i've felt something like that several times lately, and Yume Nikki, Cry of Fear and Omori soundtracks were somehow helping a lot with acceptance. to anyone who reads this, i wish you to find your happiness and to value what you have
Way long ago, when I first got into lucid dreaming etc (surprise surprise lol) this is the ambient effect that I put on so I could stay half-awake. I opened the game and went to the Dark World so it would be a continuous loop.
I'm still convinced I would've actually had a lucid dream except my mom burst in right when I was starting to dream lol
this sounds so confusing and "expertive", but its amazing! it sounds like your the only last in a dark town, your just walking through a dark town that got hit by a tornado, and it feels oddly liminal.
