    After researching inverter gens for years now, there was nothing ever close to the KW and 120/240 output of the Honda EU6500 and EU7000. Nothing close... Until now! For a few hundred more than the Predator, this unit has a real panel for hours and KW, and dual fuel. Great video! I think this is the TOP DOG right now.

    finally settled on this, they are selling right now for $2100, which is less than half the price of a Honda, and for my use (sparingly for hurricanes or other weather events) it should get the job done running all my essentials and the 3T AC (with soft start) AND be MUCH MUCH quieter than an open frame 3600RPM machine, it's not like i'm running this thing for a business or anything (in that case i would buy a Honda)
    i plan to keep my power usage under 6000W to improve longevity

    This beast is on sale for $1999 at the DuroMax website, beating even the retailer's price. I'll stop by Lowe's tomorrow to see if they will price match and still give me a military discount. If that's the case, it's a no-brainer and a really good deal.

As someone who is spending a couple thousand on a larger inverter generator and choosing between the Predator and this one, this video was exactly what I need. We have a buried propane tank that runs our fireplace so I will likely go with this one so that I have that option if needed.

    With the inverter gens getting bigger and better every day, I'm waiting to see who is the first to market with a "stationary/built in" inverter generator in an outdoor enclosure for home backup, to compete against the traditional gens like Generac, Kohler and Briggs. Those gens are loud and plow through natural gas, as they are screaming away at 3600RPM when running. A 10-25KW outdoor natural gas inverter gen lineup will change that market. Maybe another year or 2...

      Tristan, I thought the same thing, but knowing the price would shoot up tremendously, I did some research and looked at building an enclosure with a Walmart sheds with exhaust and cooling fans...it came to about $600 to build, a Generlink transfer switch and an auto start kit. It was still a lot cheaper than installing a Generac or Kohler. Check into the Generlink switch...I think I came up with a price tag of under $5000 and that included a soft starter for a 4 ton AC unit

    after using generators for a while, the best setup you can do is a battery bank with charge controller and your own inverter that feeds into the house panel with cutoff. PROPANE is the only fuel to use in my opinion when you add up fuel costs and longevity of engine. You set up your generator to kick on when battery bank gets down to a percentage and let the generator top it off. and also kick in some solar panels. You can easily live off- grid with normal home if you do this. Get better efficient appliances and rely on them less. You be amazed on how no paying utility company can pay for your equipment over time and its your and you are independant. The only downside is neighbors when power outages occur and they think they should piggyback off you. Wont be long and I wont have neighbors though, Im getting out of the area soon. Yes Im taking my power system with me. but leaving the solar hot water and basic panels that are older and to much work to remove.

  • @atburke6258
    @atburke6258 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sir,
    Thanks for the test. The engine sure held up under load. I also suspect it hadn't really had a chance to break in where these small engines seem to get another 5-10% power. It appeared the engine was good for more but the circuit breaker tripped at 7700 watts. I think you could have gone to 8200 watts by plugging an identical small heater on a 500 watt setting on the other breaker side of the 240. The only reason it gave up at 7700 watts was the breaker on that leg. If the breaker on the other leg had exactly identical characteristics, I truly believe you could have gotten 8200 before you had a system shutdown. The breakers are protecting the inverter, not the engine. For instance, you couldn't have taken 7200 watts in a 120 volt situation off of one side because the breaker wouldn't stand the 60 amps.
    Keep those interesting and informative videos coming,
    A.T. Burke

      Thanks for watching. I actually tried it several different ways after this test seems like there’s more engine than inverter like someone else stated but Regardless of where I plugged in once it added up to around 7700 watts it would shut off

    I suspect that the 9500 will be the same. I would have to believe they are the same (Predator and Duromax) unit just a different color and some feature differences. Is one better than the other? Debatable in my mind. The biggest test? Which company will support their customers the best. Duromax already has a leg up with a three year warranty vs HF's 90 day or additional cost extended warranty. The biggest standout is the dual fuel from the factory on the Duromax. While you can purchase an aftermarket one for the Predator online, will it void all warranties?

    Hi Gavin Great Video. Iv got a quick question to see if you have run across this with your XP9000iH. I have called Duromax about this but I haven't gotten an answer yet.
    The hour meter keeps resetting when I turn off the generator and restart it. The Minute indicator seems to be working fine. The hour will show how many hours its been running total but once I restart the unit the hour meter starts all over again from 0. • @Rk-mt4ll
      @Rk-mt4ll 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GeneratorReviews There’s two timers ,one is the long-term hour meter and the other is an hour/minute meter of how long it’s been running since it was last started. I bought one of these and have a problem maybe you could help me with, One of the main reasons I bought this generator is because it was said to be ATS ready but with only compatible select Circuit ATS . I have been unable to find any information or where to purchase said switch and cable or is this something duromax hasn’t come out with yet? I would appreciate any help you you could give me on this matter thank you

      Hey Mark, let me contact Duromax and find out about this I know Westinghouse makes a ATS that looks compatible with it but let me find out I’ll get back with you.

    Gavin, what is the Horse power on the DuroMax 9,000 engine? I’ve looked strong and can’t find the listing.

      Hey Carl, The Duromax at 459cc should be rated at 30 hp engine. That is more than enough engine to support its output power.

      That’s the exact same test you just mentioned I want to run but it’s too cold to run my A/C.
      I also have a 5 ton AC so I would like to find that out when it gets warmer I will do this test.

      It runs our home's 3 ton hvac system with no problems. You will want a hard start kit or soft start though.
      It will also run numerous other things in our house at the same time. You will need to make sure you balance the load on both sides of the 240 to maximize what you can run.

      It looks as if the regulator is on the lp tank. I would think if you had a NG regulator with the primer button (Forgot what they were called, sorry.) This may work. Definitely worth a try. I'm curious too. I converted a Ryobi 2300 inverter to NG and it runs as it should.
