    I had lost my father when I was 7, and even though I knew his death was nothing but a unlucky accident, I always blamed him for not being around. When Goro meets his fathers spirit, I realized, just like that hellion, I was not facing my problems, instead I had used other people as a scapegoat, and from that moment on, I chose to mature and handle anything I could without resorting to excuses.

    I know almost everyone prefers Dark Cloud 2 over this, and it is a better game overall; however, for me, Dark Cloud 1 will always be the game I keep going back to play.
    Heroes, companions, magic, adventure, tragedy, friendship, love, and the soundtrack brings into it something I can't explain, that really makes this feel like a timeless tale meant to be passed from one generation to the next.
    This isn't just a game, it's a fairytale.

      I've never played the sequel, so I can't say if it's better or not, but this game was a very big part of my childhood... even though I for the longest time only was able to play the demo xD I remember I found out they had it for rent at a local Blockbuster, and I would always rent it when I visited my dad, and I remember getting to the Dark Genie but never being able to actually beat him... Then I finally found it for sale on Amazon for a proper price, and also one who would send to Denmark where I live xD Then I got up to where I was at in my last game... in about half the time this time because I had more of an idea of what the hell I was doing xD And now I'm playing through it a 3rd time with my girlfriend : 3 One of my all time favorites this game

      @@megamage911 I've played the "sequel", (only the beginning though) and I can honestly tell you, as a modern gamer that has indeed played the latest Zelda and Mario games, that Dark Cloud outranks all those games. Dark Cloud 2, Dark Chronicle, isn't as great because it's more intricate in gameplay, having to take pictures to ride giant mechs (not as great as it sounds) and the Dark Genie's lore isn't even right! It was just a weird secret boss to make a come back to the original! Also, fishing. Nightmare.

      Dark cloud started it all and that's why I always have it as my all time favorite and my foundation of childhood. Dark cloud 2 definitely just made it better. Just added more stuff.

      @Rānui MacDonald I do in fact play the European version. I really should sit down and finish it one of these days. I did actually a few years ago sit down to play the whole game again, since I'd do better now, being older and more experienced, but I never did end up finishing it even then... xD

    God this is the only game I remember playing where it encouraged me to do good. you know this game makes you feel like a kid with all innocence at the same time a man who's seen alot of things but still somehow remains good at heart. kind of corny but that's how I feel.

      Abdallah Hassanien I love taking some time to just sit and listen to the soundtrack every now and again, still some of the best music I know tbh, and song like this one in particular and Memories, and a few others, are really good to just sit down, relax with a cup of tea, and just clear your head.

    I got this game on my 9th birthday and played to chapter 3... I let a friend borrow it and never saw it again. 7 years later I found a new copy at the local video game store. I'm currently playing through the remaining 75% of chapter 3 as my memory card was still in tact.

    They need to remake these games along with a sequel. I wonder how much it would fair against the kingdom hearts series. Dark Cloud has a much easier story to follow after all. This game was ahead of it's time with the mechanics.

      This game is a masterpiece. That none know of. Its a hidden gem in broad Daylight.
      Its been covered up by time. And shadowed by its creators.

      Honestly, Level 5 after the PS2 days just lost so much of their original edge. Dark Cloud 1/2, Rogue Galaxy, and even Dragon Quest 8. They were clearly ahead of their time in a market Squaresoft was struggling to reclaim quality with after the disappointing FF10.

    Don't get me wrong, I would never undermine this game. It was the first PS game I ever played and is still one of my favorite video games ever created to this day. I was kind of stating it for those who don't know about the game, it's one of the few good RPG's that came out on PS2 and I see it as being on the same ranks as the classic LoZ. That's all I was saying. Completely underestimated game and all I want to do is change that so that we may see a third.

    Get any type of machine gun and equip it with the flying propeller dude, status break a 9 foot nail onto it or anything with the *crittical strike attribute* and boom you have a beast gun. Each shot has a chance to 1 shot kill, 20 seconds 60 shots?.......bbbbbbbllllllllllllllllllrraaah!!!! GO have fun :)

    No, this game is too different from Zelda. It shouldn't be compared to it and I don't know why so many people do. It's an action/adventure game with some RPG elements in it, the hero wears a green hat and carries a sword, and you can fish. Those are the only similarities I can think of. Zelda doesn't have the whole atlamillia thing, random dungeons, or swords that you can level up.
    A much better comparison to Zelda would be the Neutopia series(TurboGrafx-16) or Okami(PS2/Wii)

  • @KaidosTheFox
    @KaidosTheFox 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    This technically was the Zelda for the ps2. It was made to rival the Zelda series.

  • @JMFSpike
    @JMFSpike 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think you somehow got the impression that I dislike Dark Cloud when the truth is that it's one of my favorite games of all time. I like it more then any of the Zelda games. All I'm saying is that it's wrong to compare it to Zelda because it's nothing like it, and I don't care if it was meant to rival Zelda. That may have been their intention while making it, but it turned out to be completely different. Other then the few similarities I mentioned above they really have nothing in common.

  • @NinjoXEnlightened

    I don't get that impression at all. I am just filling you in on why so many people refer it to. It still is strange because this is so much better.

    No.. :/ It is based off off the Zelda Series.
    Its Sony's response to The Legend Of Zelda.
