His calves got calves
That's what I'm saying😂
i was about to say that
Years of kicking
@@JakeEatNow probably mid and high kicks, but i’d say it’s mostly from years of skipping and roadwork
You mean his cows have calfs
Before practising the kick… practise the balance.
and the end range mobility (often a restriction here is confused with lack of technique)
DEFINITELY
@@carlo.demichelisyeah, if you’re running close to end of range of motion, have to think really hard about pushing your support leg back so it doesn’t pull out from under you
You re right in his case kick block on the left and sweep the other leg if their no balance...
@@arnaudredcyclone3904 yeah, or honestly just a push with a finger or two would do the trick
Nice technique pointer, also very nice doorframe
Very nice door frame id say
Yes it is a nice arched opening. I like it. Though abit suprised someone else too notice. Great minds huh? 🙂
Oh and fyi it's just fine to call it a nice doorway, or door frame or something similar in normal common language. Even if it doesn't have an actual door.
"Cased opening" would also suffice and in a more technical sense, though if arched usually "arched opening".
So don't mind me I'm just coming from a more architectural viewpoint, we all know what you mean which is what matters in common language.
(Also abit of stickler with words if you cant tell. :)
Surprisingly nice for a home gym, if thats what it is.
And no I'm not going to mention or complain about the uncoated softwood baseboards giving a kinda cheap aesthetic that contrast with it, im not, im not. :)
Kinda suprised he used what looks like those relatively thing jigsaw matting pieces for the floor/matting though. But then he's not a grappler is he? Straight dutch or karate style kickboxer yeah? Which would probably explain that. Looks so neat though. Less he glued them down or something?
Theyd always pop up and end up scattered around wherever i tried them.
@@iamshredder3587Let me eat your dog.
That form is a thing of beauty.
Absolutely legit, as someone who trains Muay Thai and has bad splits I can say this technique is the only reason I can head kick. Don’t be laughing at why I have terrible splits, i at least train 5 days a week
You don't need to be anywhere near splits to kick to head level
@@Drikkerbadevandwhat is the reason for this? Really strange, you’d think the splits would help with head kicks, but indeed it’s not necessarily the case
@@timammannI mean it does help, but its not necessary.
One thibg too is that dynamic flexibility is way greater than static. So in a fast motion you can probably get 5 or more cm higher than if you raised your leg slowly.
With proper calf raising and rotation, angle and timing you can head kick people taller than you with nowhere near full split flexibility (i definitely cant full split).
That being said having really good static flexibility will help you have way more control and better technique in your kick.
Working hip abductor strength is also really important for getting high kicks too! Don't forget them
@@jaredy.4116 you’re right Jared
When I did American karate I was taught spin on the ball of the foot180° then plant the heel. In case you wanted to do multiple kicks.
When I did kickboxing I learned it like this to have easier hip rotation.
However when I did kyokushin I was taught never to go on the tip toe because they will take (kick out) your support leg. And to slightly keep the support leg bent so it is harder to be taken.
Noted the kick distance is different sometimes for head kicks in kyokushin.
All 3 are useful depending on what you want to do. Great video Mr Vargas
Osu.
Holy moly! The definition of Gabe's calf is crazy! Looks like he has two calves instead of one. 😅
thats what years of skipping will do for you lol

Nice
The relevance is relevantly relevant.
apros pos of nothing-lovvit bro!
Best thing I have read in months
Amazing !
Great for reaching, but at the sacrifice of stability and power.
When the foot is place firmly on the ground the impact can allow for you to knock yourself off your feet.
Guess it differs between art styles.
Other than that the foot direction is great.
Not only smooth, but also adds a lot of power and speed the more you practice this. Even pro Muay Thai fighters use this and MMA fighters too. This man is 100% legit. Respect
If you've seen his wall of combat sport belts it's a no contest whether he's legit or not 😂
That is the craziest.... ghost hidden kick.
Introduction. Thanks. Helps me fix mine.
Yeah, all fun and games until you've got to connect with the shin
This tip in my opinion is so crucial for high kicks, I watched your pivot video, and learned this, but it is still awesome to come back, rewatch and go through the movements, thank you so much, for making this amazing video Gabriel! 🎉
Time to try this on my 450 Pounds 7,8 Bully at school tomorrow 😊
for like 10 years I thought I was doing this but I wasn't all the way up. If you're reading this, try just walking around the house in general waaaay up on the very top of your toes. Only takes like a week or 2 to get stronger there
This makes you more vulnerable for foot sweeps
Good thing I'm using this for tricking and not fighting ^^
Agreed, I'd say train both flat footed and on the ball of your foot both types of rotational force has it's strengths and weaknesses.
No, you should absolutelely rotate, I agree. This gives you the actual power
@@heinrichstaubsauger3873 yep, ball of the foot is faster but weak and flat footed is slower but more powerful; the loss of speed is very miniscule too and you're more rooted and harder to sweep.
This is how thai boxers throw their lead rounds and their retracted rounds with their far leg sometimes. Karate, Tkd, and kung fu tend to keep the anchoring leg rooted unless jumping, hopping, or skipping is involved.
I personally try to rotate on den ball of the foot but while I do this, I try to have my foot on the ground or at least down. Otherwise a true martial artist could easily footsweep you to the ground which would be fatal in a street fight. In a kickboxing tournament maybe it would make sense as long they have no footsweeps
About popped my hips off😂
Beautiful technique
Great technique thank you
Thanks dude !
Nice training video!
Get those hands up!
Why are all the current comments just sexbots😭
Lmao, wild. I guess they like his legs.
It's everywhere and they copy actual comments
I slipped in shower where i was watching this video. On the way to the hospital now
It gets harder when you whip your weight into that kick, but ill give this ago to see if it helps build more stabilization in my form.
I could watch you throw that roundhouse all day long. Such control and fluidity.
The funny part is that I can’t throw a head kick whenever I want but when I have an opponent in front of me suddenly my head kicks land 😂😂
I can't wait to try this at work 😮
Good technique 🦁
Only problem with Calf Raises is there's less balance thus more easier to Sweep.
I have the technique down but something is tight and doesn’t let me get much past hip height. I stretch alot, but somethings up
The form is perfect
This will also take so much power out of the kick too
A head kick requires far less power behind it than a kick to the body anyways, the mass and momentum is more than enough
Don't need power for a high kick to the head. If it lands they're fucked.
@@bdk1993 Problem with that way of thinking is a true warrior must never sacrifice technique for speed or fkexibility in the begining, those come with commitment and consistency in training. A fighter should be more concerned with the quality of his work not the quantity and intensity if you just train your flexibility better and be more consistent with effective training you never have a need to do this!!! It's lazy, forms bad habits and harms your development in the long run. Don't even get me started on how it effects your footwork and balance when returning from the kick. The fact flexibility is so easy to achieve and quick with commitment just adds to the laziness. When you get into the cage or ring your opponent should be only the man standing in front of you. You shouldn't also be competing against your own bodies limitations not when you improve them. Why would you sacrifice power for something that you can just train better until its what you need it to be? its weak minded thinking. Each warriors mind and body is different every fighter has a different range and level of pain resilience. If your going to risk that high kick for a knock out blow it needs to count and if every part of you body is not prepared to pull this off to the best of potential then don't throw it unless your training or sparring. That thank the video is titled 'cheat tip' gets my goat as...there are no cheats in fighting.
@@hayden5880 There are many different kind of round kicks dude and I won't pretend to know them all. Howver myself I use 3 variations. The Thai round kick for the most power a Karate kick for a blend of speed and power and a TKD kick for the most speed and I can promise you a professional, 'professional' coach will not teach you this rubbish. Again if your making the effort to time this right and make this land you want it to count, because you proably ain't making this land again in the same fight.
How? He's just practicing the foot positioning for a head kick
Very useful suggestion as always. Now I can do high kicks even being a beginner in Kickboxing ❤💪
He makes it look very easy and explains it well
This makes my Tatsumaki Zankukyaku a breeze!
Great breakdown👍🏽
For me, angling the kick did all the magic :D
Yes he is the main character
i definitely need to practice this
his technique is challenging the textbooks.. 😂💥
Damn I needed this
Boxers mma fighters a lot of combat sports have popularized being active and up on the toes
Magic Gabe! I'll try it out this evening.
I'm gonna try
Bro got them DBZ calves
Isn’t this how all roundhouse kicks are normally done? At least that’s the way we’ve been taught at my gym
Thanks
He's right
cheat tip: be a multiple time kickboxing world champion
Wow, what a cool training tip. I need all the kicking toe I can get. Current kick height just above the hip...
nice🔥🔧
You just made me realized why i kick higher than i should.
Your calves😮💪
Beautiful
Thank u
I never thought to throw the kick this way, I just kinda let momentum do its thing and pray to not overshoot
Good tip
When you upset a classic ballet dancer.
Feel like my acl is going to tear when rotating and elevating at the same time
I never could understand how one throws this technique with such easy
Not elevating with pure calf muscle contraction during the rotating of the supporting leg, there should be some sort of bounce or already pre existing momentum upwards before the rotation part of the supporting leg
Now let's talk about the athletic tape on/below the knee
I struggle with pivot cuz my foot sweats and it gets stuck to the mat too much
What if I can’t kick that high or the muscles are tight in my legs, should I do stretches
Absolutely. Stretch. Build the correct type of strength is the legs.
I'll post a video below that will help
th-cam.com/video/VL5CIMJZSgQ/w-d-xo.html
It's crazy watching your toes jump into action. I was like them things ain't supporting nothing, then bam toes locked to the floor 😆
This is legit cause we are taught this in Muay Thai as well
It does look zesty from this angle ngl
I like it
Hell, receiving a clean kick to the heas like that 😮😢
How do i strech my legs proply it dosnt work for me could you do vid about it please❤
I think I do this but if my balance is off I end up slipping
this is the best way to get an ankle sprain. Much safer to use the kicks, where you can hit with your heel. More powerful too.
what
It's completely fine:
th-cam.com/video/2df9cvPUP-E/w-d-xo.html
This cool bro but my leg don't go that high without dislocating
I would love to know how to get mi legs to kick so high cuz i got 0 flexibility
He's also doing something with those hands tho
Can I use it as a 5'3 guy
This works without doing groin stretching??
What is the name of this model bag please ?
Muay Thai tippy toes
Where ist your guard, or you Wanne get counterpunch in the face?
باریکنا، خیلی هم عالی
I already do this, and still cannot kick to the head 😢.
I tried this and my kick ended up so high up I ended up losing balance and falling down 💀
Holy fuck this rlly works
Also stretch that groin
Balance diminished if 0.2% off
I’m super stuff so it takes me doing this to kick at the body, otherwise i’m throwing straight groin shots.
And if you throw high kick, make sure you put your hands behind your body for balance...
ماشاء الله1️⃣4️⃣4️⃣5️⃣هجري☯️
Nice tip! But even when doing a vid like this keep your right guard where it should be.
My hips can't split that far though 😔
If your body weight is alot will crush your ACL
👍👍👍👍👍
what if enemy is pro wrestling and counter u
This will allow you to not dislocate your hips😊
Some door frame that
Unfortunately this didn’t help my hips get any more flexible lol good tip though
What happened to your knee
I remember doing this when I'm learns Taekwondo in High School, the sensei force us to do it in asphalt, my foot bleeding, and the asphalt got inside the wound, that the last time I learn any Korean shit.
should be on mats
@@JMRVRGS yeah it should be, he just have messed up logic, he think that kind of pain would make people stronger, in fact we would get tetanus first before getting the yellow belt.
So if you're a short guy you need to stand on your tippy toes to do a head kick. Makes sense.
